@Void No that's not true, at least for Fatal Frame and Silent Hill 2 they have been exactly the same, the only thing that changes the puzzles is the Riddle Difficulty.
I played silent hill 2 on a tube television, with black and white color scheme during lonely sleepless nights in a rented rundown apartment. That place was already creepy enough on its own, greatly enhancing my experience. I'll never forget jumping down that historical society hole at 3AM. One of the best games ever.
Cybeeeerrrr shelllllllll what’s a beautiful human specimens such as yourself doing in a scary hood like this ! Also can you make silent hill bOnUs ViDeO ! (;
I like how, with the cutscene removed, it looks like James just guns down Eddie in cold blood for no reason even though he wasn’t fighting back and was just trying desperately to escape
Interesting that because you don’t get the radio from killing the first monster, you don’t get to hear the static noise when enemies are nearby. Actually makes the game a lot scarier!
The town is probably scrambling and triping over itself to get all the fucked up shit in place as James is sprinting through Silent Hill with the grace and speed of an Olympian gold medalist.
My man, I absolutely adore these videos. I've watched every single one no matter if I'm even remotely interested in the game involved, because the stories you share and your presentation are just so top-notch. Please keep it up, and take as long as you need.
i played silent hill 2 during 2021 and it was the first silent hill i had ever played and have never watched anything about it, i never spoiled myself with the ending nor been spoiled, and at first I thought the voice acting was really goofy and cheesy but after playing through the game and getting immersed, it almost felt more real as james acted like people you would find in real life, not overly serious sounding like a voice actor, but they sound serious enough in their own rights as a normal individual. And the music, so perfectly orchestrated, with such bangers. plus the graphics are quite amazing for its time especially with the cutscenes. James is such a relatable character on the whole level of him just wanting a normal life, but not getting that because of his ill wife causing him to be shackled by her, but when in silent hill maria gives him the alternative to a more fun and fulfilling life that acts just as a band aid to the full issue. But what really got me was Eddies character, he's portrayed as this big fat idiot who just seems like comedic relief but turns out to have this really tragic story that makes him seem so evil because hes so socially inept. From a completely fresh view of the game, it was absolutely amazing, and from a gameplay perspective, I really enjoyed the tank controls since re 4 is one of my favorite games.
I also played SH2 in 2021 for the first time ever. I knew nothing about the story of this game so it made it more enjoyable for me. I remember that at first I wasn't sure If I wanted to finish it because I was quite angry that I managed to survive PH first fight at my first try only to die 15 minutes later by some monster and I had to reload a save before the fight with PH. I thought this game is too hard for me but after some thinking, I decided to go on. I'm glad I did because finally I've fallen in love with this game and with the whole series (well, except Origins and Homecoming). When I finished SH2 I played all SH games apart from Book Of Memories because it's shit. To this day my favourite one remains Silent Hill 3. I love Heather and her sassiness.
A lot of people have made the observation that Silent Hill 2's voice cast falls into the uncanny valley. There is a humanity to each character's line delivery that is simply not there with professional voice actors doing 'movie voices', but they are human in an almost off-putting way (even James), that is to say, they actually sound like mentally ill people who have stilted speech patterns. This makes them more real and unsettling to listen to. There is no comparison between Silent Hill 2 voices and actual bad voice acting like the first Resident Evil. These actors were milked for the perfect delivery by TeamSilent.
fuck yeah new ThaRixer video, literally my favourite channel ever, with a close second being DougDoug. Absolutely love your channel, its always my highest priority if I see a notification for a video of yours
Yes!! You're my favorite speedrun commentator(or explainer? lol), by far. Something about your tone of voice and your ability to entertain & fill most of the empty air yet stay relevant to whats happening is immaculate. Keep it up man!!!
Definitely love these videos. They feel more relaxed and give a nice, closer look at how runs are done. Also the fact that they're in horror games like Silent Hill feels like a nice change of pace as well. :)
Only in the video game community would there be a group of people actively hunting down the fastest way a man can experience the worst traumatizing horror
I rarely put commentaries but I watched all your videos and Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite game of all time so thanks for this awesome video. Keep up the good work, greetings from Belgium in Europe !! ^^
Love the Silent Hill runs and was looking forward to this! Hope to see Silent Hill 3 explained next year. Your videos are always super engaging and entertaining :)
What a great video!! I always loved this game, and I’ve never really considered the speedrunning capabilities it could have, especially after your first video. Once again, a great doc Ricky!
Your production quality is masterful. These type of videos always get me excited the moment I see them in my feed. Somehow the bell icon got changed off, so I fixed it.
Not really into speedrunning but I've liked your channel for your easy to digest video breakdowns. Commentary ones like this are fun, wouldn't mind seeing more of these types of uploads.
This brought back some memories. I used to watch Nubzombie when he first came onto the Silent Hill speed running scene. I’m unable to watch him much anymore since I am no longer on graveyard shift. But all the little tips and tricks from quick saving and the RNG on the clock.
Glad to see this finally came out! Just recently finished this game and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Happy to know some of my best friends in speedrunning could lend a hand to this project as well!
I've had this video on my watch later for months. At home sick and decided to finally watch it. Really liking this style, often I watch speedruns and I'm like wtf is going on. I've never even played Silent Hill.
I hardly comment on UA-cam but man I found your channel through your ratchet videos and within 2 days almost binged watched your entire your channel. Thank you for all the effort that you make into documenting speedruns and glitches. It was such a breath of fresh air. Sadly I only have a few videos left but that makes me excited for the content to come. Thank you again, you really make some exceptional content ♥️
Damn these videos of you and the way you speak and truly give all of you to these games is stunning. I played Jak series as a kid and I dont care about twitch and speedruns but you were the guy who explained the true story of effort put in all the games. Always watch all your videos even if you were a reporter on tv i would enjoy watching it because you give us the real feel how is it so hard to beat these runs.
I just realized, that I‘ve seen the video on the first one. I was confused how I recognized a video from just a month ago without having watched it. Great narration again, very well done.
Great video, I was waiting for it and was pretty sad when it did not came out at Halooween, I thought it won´t come out anymore, but here it is and I love it
These are so nice to listen too, I only saw this came out now but I've been hoping you would do something like this again since the SH1 TAS. If you're going to do something else like this, I would be especially interested in another TAS. Either way though, great work!
Absolutely Ricky, I love these kind of videos and I'd love one on SH3 next halloween ^-^ The whole frame rng mechanic is super interesting! They definitely did the right choice by allowing it to become part of official runs.
I've begun learning to speedrun this game and while I'm far from good at it, I can't recommend it enough. It's such a fun experience and getting my first time-saved splits after all these years of watching speedruns feels unreal.
You have a good voice for this and it's informative. These are all the games I grew up playing. I never knew that someone would had gone to these extents to get these times. I remember playing this game at 2 in the morning in my home in the mountains of TN. I literally pissed myself. Now looking back at this speedrun, I am thankful for this guy's dedication and yours to show it.

All that can be said about this run is one thing.
"GAME SAVED!"
Which ironically is what the PC version did to silent hill 2 considering konami today

I'm down with spooky videos after Halloween. We have to fight back against Christmas's illegal occupation of November.
Yea my stores are already full of christmas stuff, yet nobody is selling sugarlaced almonds on the streets, what a scam. Still halloween in my book

Eh, I love Christmas so I don’t mind it.

Well presented. Unsure if it is the writing or your voice, maybe both, but it was really chill to listen to. Great video.

I'm really happy to see the likes of DarkViper watching these videos. Amazing.
