Just started doing this life. But I built in a cargo trailer and pull it with my Hummer. Really enjoying the lifestyle. And since I can work from anywhere, I really enjoy this! Watch your vids and you do a great job miss! If you need anything such as safety and self protection, let me know. I'm a Veteran and in the outdoors industry.
One thing I would recommend is keeping a Visa gift card that doesn't expire in your car in case you leave your wallet/purse at home. That way you can still eat or buy gas if needed.
Adding the garbage can was a game changer for me. I also recommend a larger contractor trash bag (the ones that will fit a 50 gallon drum and are made of super thick plastic). This has come in handy more times than I can count. Ground cover, check. Impromptu beach clean, check. Dead body, double check.
my cup holders are pretty darn clean. I have these stone coasters that take all the condensation. Also whenever I'm wiping off my dash I make it a point to also hit up the cup holders!
Nice! Should have had a couple more of those plastic storage boxes for the trunk to place his shoes and other loose items in to keep them from rolling about and to also make it easier to remove them if it becomes necessary to change the tire or get to the jack and lug tool under the boot cover.
I am the same. The storage areas of my ride look like a preppers underground bunker. The only time I couldn't acommodate a passenger request on one of my cross country trips is when they asked for a salad in the middle of the night in Wyoming. On that note, military MRE's are great to keep. AAA has changed their naming recently and rv plus is now called premier. I recall it being $129 for the year. Its an absolute must. It pays for itself the first time you use it. A decent first aid kit is a must as well and a fresh can of fix-a-flat. If you use a fix-a-flat type product make sure you tell the mechanic who eventually fixes/replaces the tire that you did so they don't get it all over them during the repair. Enjoyed the vid.
I mounted a waterproof bag with a plastic carabiner on the passengers seats back. More space, quiet good to reach and out of the way. Visor organizer and maybe the head rest cover with molle and velcro from OneTIGRIS would be a great addition.
I keep an identical atlas in the same place in our Civic when we travel. We have both a Civic and a huge Dodge Ram Promaster. We travel, tent camp and ski from the Civic - but have never slept in it. Love some of your organizing ideas.
If the spare tire is in the trunk under the carpet you can usually put stuff around that. I have an early model ‘97 VW Passat, and in my trunk I’ve got winter and leather gloves, warm hat, wool blanket, bags, plastic trunk liner, a multi tool, safety glasses, rags, jumper cables, a duster, and a few other things. Most of it is under that carpet floor thing. I also have front and rear sun visors that I keep in a seat pocket. Good to have something to start a fire and a flashlight too :)
Buy and keep a Goo Loo in the car. My daughter got us a Goo Loo jump starter for Christmas. Jump starts vehicle, charges phones, any item that has ISB port on it. She has one and uses it when she goes camping and has used it when she's lost electric for charging phone, lantern. We also camp quite a bit and I'm sure we will use it frequently.
I got all that and a tent, hatchet, machete, fire starter stuff slingshot with sling bow collapsable fishing rod and gear, pair of knives and camping kitchen gear. then there is the optional cold sleeping bag for winter season
Curious, can you do a video on preparing your vehicle for vehicle living, the do's, don't and must have. f.y.i. Thank you, got me motivated to clean, organize, maintenance and restock my Mitsubishi. much appreciated.
You forgot a couple of things Ahle, but they are not essential as you got the main stuff like jumper cables. I however, would have added a solar powered battery charger, for those moments when you are out in the boonies and do not have access to another car that can jump you off. But the two things I think you should have added, is a portable battery powered air pump and a small tire repair kit specifically a plug patch kit. Some people might want to include a can of fix a flat, but that can really make things harder to put a permanent patch put on the tire which is why I recommend a tire plug kit.
Always have a raincoat, flashlight, first aid. jumper cables many people forget. even a little gas can is convenient to have. last summer i got like 4 flats, but its so easy to put on a dummy tire, unless you a dummy.
Thank u for sharing idea about the trash can. Maybe i will buy one for my self. I use to have the trash can that I bought in dollar store that has a lid its a small container for the cereal.
should of included some triangles, flares, and for a blanket go to ebay and buy a thermal blanket, they are super compact also include in the trunk at least two chinese safety vest they cheap on ebay, also a flashlight go to amazon buy a lermx bike flashlight its rechargable compact and super bright. oh and get a phone holder
Make sure to have spare fuses. If I’m not mistaken Honda has a main fuse and if that fuse blows nothing will work and I do mean nothing. I think it’s a 50 amp I could be wrong. Just a suggestion. Car looks a lot better with your help 👍🏼
This is a cool video, I'm prepping my SUV for upcoming road trip. Besides cleaning, portable cooler/ warmer, solar charger, portable shower tent, solar charger and portable toilet
Hi Ahle I would have put some matches or a lighter in the travel bag for the what if the car lighter doesn't work and some bags and a bucket and a back up roll of toilet paper
FYI for the food in the trunk. Most say something like 5 - 25 years, however, that's when kept at a cooler temperature than a trunk in hot weather. I read the fine print on some 5 year meals I had, and realized in the summer around Austin, keeping it in my truck would lower it to just a few months. Still a good idea to keep food in your vehicle, but if you live somewhere warm at all, consider changing it out a lot more often. If you change it out before it goes bad, you can still eat it so it doesn't go to waste.
Never seems to fail with me I start off all clean and small as time goes by I end up with more clutter and need more room so I go bigger and just keep adding. I use to keep things neat clean. But some where between neat and clean things went south. I can tell you two of the worse smell I have had was a time I lost a gallon of milk all over the carpet in the dead of heat. Next was a car load full of Clams I went clamming one night in the summer and it was too early to cash them in so I went home to nap and I didn't wake till 8 hours later .
I too have had the gallon of milk problem. cleaned the trunk carpet - still smelt. Ended up dumping half a bottle of Ferbreeze in the back and letting that dwell on a hot day. It worked! But the car always smelt a bit like lavender on a hot day. Better than cheese though.
@@FromThePrairies I lost a full gallon of milk in a camper I had to pull the carpet all up and toss it then bleach everything. some smells you just can never get rid of and some after you smell it no matter how far away you are from it you still have that smell sticking to you.
This has inspired me to clean out my car, especially my trunk. It’s full of stuff! It’s not dirty like this car, but I have a 2 year old who throws random things everywhere. I found a rogue chicken nugget yesterday. Edit; oh yikes my glove box and center console are full of junk. Thank you for the organization tips. Do people still use road atlases? With navigation in most cars & on all cellphones, how often do you need a map? Still not a bad idea
that's awesome! i'm glad you caught that rogue chicken nugget hahaha. IDK if ppl still use atlases haha but I like to find my area in the atlas so I can get around very easily when I post up for a few weeks in no service areas... especially in no service areas I hadn't planned to be in. Sometimes I'll download google maps for offline use but on the atlas I can draw and highlight stuff! So I can see potentially not needing one, but I love it!
Hobo Ahle You know what, you brought up a great point. There are plenty of places off grid without any service so I better get myself an atlas for just in case. I used to really enjoy writing out/ highlighting my route back in the day just like I used to plot a course sailing. Great video as always and thank you for responding! Lol I feel so special. Safe travels ❤️
Don't have a road atlas, but have state maps in my car. My state-PA-and states around it that we frequently drive in. Also have few county and forestry maps as my part of PA is very rural and quite a few areas have no cell service.
Makes me wanna go clean out my car and I love the little garbage can that's a smart idea and I don't know how many times people jumped in my car and I couldn't charge their phones so I definitely need to get a IPhone charger and how did that cleaner work? It looked great in the video but in person is it really good? I've always used armor all and I didn't realize how bad it was until I've been reading up on it. Or if you prefer another cleaner?
Katie should watch this. She definitely needs to get her car organized. Living in a really tiny space like that and everything is cluttered will give me a headache.
I see what you did there. You almost got me to actually watch you clean some dude's car! I have said from the beginning that you should be in sales of some sort or on TV. You have a great gift of making whatever mundane thing you are doing seem like the most fascinating thing to watch and do. But....not.... this.... time..... (I'm on to you Hobo Ahle! :-))
Loved this video but was hoping it had alot of stuff already in the car but very unorganized and Hobo Ally was going to save the day by organizing it all. Can you do a video with stuff already in it but messy😀
Wish I could do this for some friends but most of the time they say no.... Then we never go in their car.... Sorry. Dirty, unorganized is a no go for me...guess we taking my car. I can't be in a dirty car too long makes me feel gross. OCD over her for sure.... LOL. Most people say my house is too clean! 🤪😆 Have a good day

ooooo what a cool idea!! I can see that being super useful
Wait she donr leave in her car?
Better to just leave emergency cash in the car, some places don't take cards.
That's actually a really helpful idea. I'm def gonna do this thanks!!
Of course, someone could bash out your window and steal everything in your car, not to mention your car itself.
