It's one of those jokes that really sinks in well after you've heard it.

She and the other cultists made the decision to make their deaths messy and horrific. That makes them even more villains.
About the scene with Clarence and his son -- it's kind of a character backstory thing that happens in the second book, but doesn't amount to much in the story, so it was interesting that of all the stuff they cut out, they kept that in there. Unless they are going to do something different with it for the show.

Rekkai’s take on Auggie surprised me, I’m glad he didn’t fully jump on the hate train. What he said is exactly how I feel about her, I’m not saying she’s right but I don’t know that she’s wrong either. I get that we need people like Wade, but we also need people like Auggie. There needs to be checks and balances, you can’t JUST look at the bigger picture.
For people who are pissed by Auggie, imagine how would you be so angry for what Jin do later
@@livbusy4629 if you’re referring to Cheng Xin’s, plot-line, Auggie is acting more like her than Jin Cheng. But yeah that’s gonna piss a lot of people off.
Will is perfect for the job because he said he is not loyal to humanity probably for Sophon to hear. He will become San Ti's perfect human specimen.

Not Rockabye baby! 😂. One thing I haven’t heard mentioned is the San-Ti said they can’t lie and their whole reason for now obliterating everyone is their ability to lie but the San-Ti don’t even present themselves in their original form. Isn’t that a lie?

Presumably the humans worked with them to develop the game software, and insisted it was important for players to see them as human so they would empathize with the plight of the san-ti.

I don’t know why you didn’t include the joke since that scene literally feels like it’s an important scene for the series. I mean kinda makes sense the San-ti can monitor everything that’s going on but not what’s going inside someone’s mind so it most likely is a code of hint. I am not a book reader please don’t spoil me if I am close or far.
You're close in understanding that the joke is important. You have no idea just how important it really is but its not because the San ti cant understand humour or lies or anything, its because they know what her joke was alluding to that they decided to kill her. The meaning behind the joke is whats important.
The reason Ye smiled when tatiana came to kill her was because by trying to kill her it confirms that the idea the joke alludes to is correct and would be a MAJOR threat to the San Ti. The main clues for what the joke means is the "dont play with god" part of it and the two books "fermi paradox" and "game theory" that she placed on her shelf. Those books will absolutely come into play later in the show.

I'm sure we'll explore "escapism" in season 2. Are we really going to let them billionaires leave us behind and leave us to be wiped out by the San-Ti? I know that's how real billionaires would do! They already building their bunkers & rockets for themselves.
Wade is kickass cool, and Wade kicks ssA! Honestly, the U.N. should become the Planetary Organization of Earth's Defense (POED, aka P.O'D) and apoint Wade as its Emperor General of Defense. It seems he is the one who should be running the WHOLE show, and the world should be united behind him.
He fun to watch. However I can easily see how it could bad real quick with him also. But until it does. I'm team Wade.

I havent read the books yet but i dont think its quite necessary for the comments to be nagging them for skipping the joke, despite its importance, isnt it way more interesting & authentic for viewers to not initially realize the importance of moments like that only to have it dawn on them later?
Not a moment like this. They arent being dramatic when they say that the answer behind this joke is EVERYTHING to this story.
The problem with this series when they tried to compress all the main characters into the oxford five, is it feels like Wade and the PDC are targetting them to do their dirty work.

I haven't read the books, so i have no context beyond the show... I can't stop wondering if the san-ti are as advanced as they are... why can't they find a habital planet without a population? Why do they need to take ours? Or anyone's?... Why can't they just find a goldilocks zone planet that doesn't have cognitive residents already?
a goldilocks zone far from ensures there’s organics on a planet. i guess when you’re shipping your whole specie across the galaxy you want a sure fire shot you’ll end up somewhere that can sustain life, and Earth was stupid enough to broadcast their location in the dark forest that is space, and even invited them.
Because the universe is a dark forest. If you read the second book, you will get the answer.

Ive also just watched the season on Netflix without reading any books of it but I think on of the main reason could be that we humans on earth were the first one to reply to their message or our message was the only/first one to reach out. One thing I don't understand is since they're already far advanced in any aspects than us why they need human to play with the vr headset or use that thing?? I mean that is only beneficial to us to understand their planetary conditions but why this is so important to them?

To Hell with Auggie. She is being absolutely, utterly selfish - she even said, in no uncertain terms, that this isn't their generation's problem because they'll be dead before the enemy arrives.
She's self-absorbed with her own personal morals - morals that are no longer of consequence, and acting like a child because she's offended due to apparently some "affront" to her morals.
It would help if you had someone to have a different perspective before you destroy yourself or the world as Ye Wenjie did. Auggie isn’t selfish. After witnessing the destruction of the Judgement Day ship with the countless innocent lives killed, she was traumatized. You may be with Ranjit Varma that they were at war, but that does not excuse the deaths of those kids. The whole plan for the nanofiber was to have Evans not destroy the data disk by sending in operatives, yet Evans safeguarded it with his life. That meant they could have just sent in the agents, and innocent lives would have been saved.

It was dead on accurate in the 60s, accurate still 10 years later, this was even true in the 1980s, as 10 more years passed it remained a fact, rolling into the new Millennium the accuracy of it did not waiver, it still continued to be true even in the 2010s, and now - to this day, without a doubt - it's factually accurate. And I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that in every year, of every decade since the mid-1960s, there's been at least .5% to 1% of the global population that has felt the same way.
And yes, Auggie is selfish. She she refuses to actually take part in the fight now, she even protested Will's involvement/sacrifice. And she genuinely protested it, all while Jin realized it was the right thing to do and supported the decision even though she really didn't want him too. Auggie was selfishly dead set against it even though he was dying... it was THE only option in the short window of time, and he was the perfect candidate. Also, SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS...

@@FLQueerLiberal1982 Ye had no one to turn to, someone she could truly confide in. Her mother's betrayal. The Red Guard had no remorse. Her comrade stole her idea. Evans never acknowledged their daughter Vera until her funeral. She became disillusioned, and that made her villain arc. As Jin said to Ye, she will be remembered as someone who fought back, which Ye failed to do so when she responded to the warning. Auggie is someone who fights back. There is no selfishness and as she stated, today is not a weapon, tomorrow is. So you think Auggie sabotaged the nano-sail with Will's brain on it? Why would she do that to Will?
