I put Escalade taillights in my Silverado - it was way more work than I thought!

- Ever wonder what Escalade taillights would look like in a Silverado? Me too! It took nine days in total, but it was worth every minuite!!
It suits the Cadillac front end and will work perfectly with the side cladding

This is giving me some ideas for my step side. The tail light mounting points in the bucket are just destroyed.
You're doing a great job and doing everything right. Man I miss my caddy swapped Sierra
french in the 3rd caddy brake light on the cab it'll give it that xtra wow. I did it to mine I also went as far as skinning the tailgate and integrating the caddy tailgate lower portion with the cladding and handle to the Sierra tailgate. It was a lot of work also to relocate the tailgate handle but in the end it all clashed in together very well.
Thanks man, and holy I bet that looked awesome! I will be putting the cladding on the bottom of the tailgate too, but nothing crazy with the handle

That’s a good thought, I’ll size it up when I get the cladding on. It may look good even with one light coat

Looks good gives it a way cleaner look
It's crazy that the bottom body lines matches two different vehicles 😅 but it's gonna be better once you body fill it and paint it 👍 but I dig it something different
You really should’ve put the tailgate or any tailgate in there to keep shape & body lines right!!

I definitely should have done that, yes. I got ahead of myself and didn’t realize that I missed that step until I noticed the lines weren’t perfect. I may go back and clean it up when I do body work

@StationroadRatrods the factory escalade lift gate has cutout for the taillights I think your lights might be pointing out the bottom gap would of close up.
To be honest, this is a horrible Frankenstein project with a very cool concept. Why? Because body filler is heavily being relied upon as a corrector and not a micro-finisher. Body filler is for tiny pinholes and stuff. It’s not spackle. Sheesh.
I need to build up about a quarter of an inch. Lots of show cars out there with much more. This is a driver
The problem with body filler is when you cover up Swiss cheese with it. Body filler on his project isn't a problem when everything under is solid metal. On top of that he is making something that never existed, cut him some slack and remember he is bringing us along his journey of creating something new, especially if it's outside his comfort/still zone. Most of us don't even try or don't have a space to create like this so maybe just enjoy, get inspired, and use your imagination to see his vision.
@@DirtyShirt1914 I did cut him slack, hence the "cool concept" comment. However you essentially explained what I said in your first two sentences.
@@kid_rajah I agree it's a cool project. It's looking like way more work than I would have thought. I thought since the bodies were so similar he wouldn't have to cut so much just bolt up one gm product to another but here we are. I guess that also goes with your Frankenstein comment what with it not being so straight up. He is building a monster and he is Dr Frankenstein!
@@DirtyShirt1914 true indeed. I think also he doesn't see his vision until he does it so not much appreciation for the build is there. People typically tend to skip steps or half ass sometimes just to hold their interest. Then they see their final product and it's either trash or trophy room. He just needs to stick with it because he can refine it later. I highly suggest he refines it.
