Yeah, some of my favorite memories when I was in high school was going to my best friends house after school and playing the shit out of this game, as well as Armored Core 1, Diablo 2, and Everquest... man, good times lol. Honestly though, Red Alert 1 was my absolute favorite. I probably put in more hours on the original Red Alert than all other games combined. I always put the difficulty on very hard in skirmish mode. The computer AI always sent like these massive fckn waves and I loved trying to survive. It was amazing, no other game sent waves like that. I mean they'd send like 100 units to attack, I loved the challenge, very memorable.

TIPS: 1. The best area to build a base is on a mountainous range with a single pathway that causes the land based infantry and vehicles to bottleneck and be annihilated. 2. Have your Ore Miners gather ores first because it provides higher funds than gold. 3. While gathering ores, send some dogs on various sites on the map so that you can have partial visibility once you have built an Airfield or Soviet Radar. This is also helpful to find other structures like hospitals. 4. Once your base has a War Factory, build another Ore Miner, at least four IFVs for air defense and two Rocketeers or a sniper to kill those Yuri Clones. 5. Try your best to make a Strategy Center immediately so that you can train a spy to infiltrate the enemy's base and steal their funds and tech, the Allied needs a lot of funds to built an army to win. The Soviets must train Boris as he can be deadly against land-based attackers, he can also call MIG Fighters to strike an enemy base, the higher promotion gives him more MIGs to summon. 6. Once funds are stolen from the enemies, use these to build air defenses as the allied usually attacks the Ore Miners especially at the beginning of the game. The Yuri forces would usually send their flying saucers to attack. There are so many ways to win a 1 vs 7 game, what I listed are just among the few and there are surely more.
When you master the game and figure out the weakness of AI in this game, beating 7 brutal enemies will feel like a simple game, and it is definitely easy with US.
@@Tehstampede Like the guy above said, the AI won't attack you from many diretions, so if you block the main route they use, you are fine. With the US, you block it with the free paratroopers and it helps so much. And after you survive the early pushes, you will have enough best units to make strong counterattack. Best to do with aircrafts, so target their most important buildings.

I come from China, I found this game on my father's computer in his office, year 1998. At that time not everyone have computer, even his entire team only have 2. This game becomes me a gamer, after this I played dozens of other games and now I still playing WOT, DOTA2, CSGO even I am 32 years old already. But my little daughter never cares about it just like my wife, lol.

From Year 1999 to year 2012 is China's NET BAR age, a whole generation spent their time in Net Bar as they can't afford a pc at home or not supported by their parents. BILIBILI is a new story for young kids now......And unfortunately young kids now in China not play with computer anymore, they are playing mobile phone games. Those game scene sucks but they are enjoying, playing with a little screen and pretend to be playing ESPORTS is really a funny thing, but time changes.

Ah the memories. I remember I liked to play the Libyans because of the demolition truck. My computer could handle only 5 going off at once; if there were 6 the explosion was so massive that the game crashed. Good times indeed
I installed chrono storm mod before and the AI got silly. they'll build lots and lots of aircraft carriers without even using it, then the game will start lagging when they release those aircraft all at once.
If you click in a circle of at least 3 or 4 waypoints, you can click to make a circle and the unit will infinitely loop that waypoint on attack move. You can also use this by clicking a single tile in waypoint mode, and then clicking just on the edge of the tile a few times to make the waypoint chain onto the same square, and then you can click the waypoint node again and the unit will "patrol" that single square. It will essentially stay still and behave as if it's in guard mode but return to the tile you told it to patrol once it's done eating people. I do this often with dogs by placing them in particular spots I don't want spies to show up at, but it can work with any unit. I've never seen you build chrono legionnaires or send a spy into a battle lab either, which is a shame, since those units can be pretty fun!
They AI is so stupid it wouldnät make a difference if teal attacked. He wouldnät have sent so many units his way in one go. Beating the AI even 7-1 is not that hard :P depending on map ofc, some are alot easier thanks to awful pathing etc.

Hey Zoom3000, I had a question. What recording software did you use? I'm trying to get something decent with OBS but it's typically coming out a bit fuzzy, not as crisp. RA2 has always been one of those tricky games to get recording lol. Maybe it was because of my resolution setting. How did you get it to 1080p and not have everything super small?
I freaking love this game. I was going to figure out how to install it on Windows 7 but I'm too lazy. I'll figure it soon as I own the physical copy that has almost all the games on one disc.
I had won 7 brutals in 18 minutes, for years I had saved the just moments from winning the 7th brutal I used to brag about it... but years passed lost the file and I used to win with russia...it used to be crazy I didnt let any AI use chrono or super weapon....I used to destroy them before they could even use it...I was strong against AI but turned there are more people stronger in real person VS...I couldnt play it in networks or internet cafe.. thats why I remain weak against very top professionals.
The main ai weakness remains its inability to build spare construction yards. So basically you just have to sustains attacks on your base while building a building sniping team and its a win.
That and they flounder with Navies, barely building anything and unable to understand amphibious transports. Any island map and they suck. Plus an overabundance of defence structures that often leave them running out of space on maps with small base areas.
I want to play this game again. But don’t know the ideal setup for the game to run smooth and without hitches . Would it be easier to find an old Windows XP type of PC to run? Are people dual booting? Curious.. I have a young kids that id like to into the game to.
Why only 1 spy? If you had acouple more spies built you could have saved alot of time from the lack of funds and being more aggresive on the aircrafts. It took like 15mins to stabilize due to funds until you built more spies.
I thought the same. And why not put a spy into enemy barracks and war factory to get promoted troops. Guardian GIs are also awesome at defending the base (air and tanks), even though a bit costly. However, good gaming man!
Wheres the fun in that? You can play perfectly but for what purpose? A win is a win no matter, and this way was more exciting, you might think oh no he might lose.
Did something similar once, captured a lot of oil rigs and just produced hundreds of rocketeers, built more barracks so the production time is faster. They attack both air and land enemies lol.

Studtistics he'll probably lose if Teal attacked. Yellow's Dreadnought is just staring at his base when it could destroy all of his Air Field.

I as well loved Red Alert 2, although I would have to say I think I enjoy Tiberian Sun a bit more, the more sci-fi game play is so appealing to me.

I want to play this game again. But don’t know the ideal setup for the game to run smooth and without hitches . Would it be easier to find an old Windows XP type of PC to run? Are people dual booting? Curious.. I have a young kids that id like to into the game to.
Have you ever noticed that the mirage tank's icon has its turret turned even though mirage tanks can't turn their turrets?

I usually build a strong defense and then send a large group of prism tanks to finish the game. That's fast

Why only 1 spy? If you had acouple more spies built you could have saved alot of time from the lack of funds and being more aggresive on the aircrafts. It took like 15mins to stabilize due to funds until you built more spies.
I thought the same. And why not put a spy into enemy barracks and war factory to get promoted troops. Guardian GIs are also awesome at defending the base (air and tanks), even though a bit costly.

Wheres the fun in that? You can play perfectly but for what purpose? A win is a win no matter, and this way was more exciting, you might think oh no he might lose.
If i remember correct its too late because they usually train dogs and defend base when 2-3 minutes passed
Did something similar once, captured a lot of oil rigs and just produced hundreds of rocketeers, built more barracks so the production time is faster. They attack both air and land enemies lol.
Good game, but In my opinion, you can use aircraft carrier to stop those superweapons to destroy a base instead of harriers.
but harriers are so much more funnnn
yeah but the problem is they are so expensive.
But destroyer,submarine will destroy them
ikr they need a support like destroyer, dolphins and cruisers to guide them.
Im still playing this game in 2020,thanks RA2. 7 brutal enemies No problem
