I love that every book on your shelves has a story to go with it. The crazy thing is that even your distilled-down-to-the-essentials collection still takes up two whole rooms!
My copy of the Aeneid is the same translator as yours!!! I admit, I have the novel, easy to read translation of The Iliad. I have to check out the Robert Fitzgerald one. Gustav Dore is great!!! My Divine Comedy has his illustrations. * happiness *
Loved this video. Although I really love homer and re-read parts of the works regularly, I have not read the Fitzgerald translations yet- will be picking them up soon.
"I'm filming this as the city prepares to die" oh that breath of optimism ;) always appreciated Who want variety? I just want to see ALL the books in your house ;) Is there such a thing as being to late to read ancient classics? I don't think so, but I sure am close to that. The snippets from Oddysey and Illiad I've read so long ago for school won't stand the blow of a dissapointed Steve for long. It's time to fix that.
Hey Steve, just curious about your educational background in literature. I want to learn and be widely read, other than reading everything...what do you suggest?

A whole shelf of Classics! I ate this up.
I'm a fan of this shelf no doubt

Haha I'm reading a version of Odyssey as we speak. Perfect for this video
finally -- the good stuff!
Do you read the original languages?
What? There is no shelf full of none-fiction on Ancient Rome? How did you fell in love with Ancient Rome? Is it a story worth telling?
