    I love this tutorial, i'm away from home and i cannot wait to get back and try this out. Do you have any tips from keeping the paing wet on canvas for lower quality paint? I'm just starting out and making tons of mistakes while trying to mix colours so i've mostly bought cheaper paints as most of what i mix goes to waste right now, and the thing i always struggle with is that my paint dries almost instantly after i apply it to my canvas, can't see me successfully doing this blending with the paints i have right now ..

    • @LaurasBeatingArt
      @LaurasBeatingArt  2 роки тому +3

      hmm, I would say try your best to not worry about mistakes (i know it's easier said than done! lol) and just work on the blending first! Practice that part over and over until you get the hang of it.. and then start working on colors etc.

    • @PEPA3RD
      @PEPA3RD Рік тому +3

      It is possible to wet the colours with a fine mist sprayer (used by hairdressers, for example). A flower sprayer is not suitable, the droplets are too big. Water must not be too much, the drops are undesirable. The paint can be kept moist on the canvas for a very long time.

    The secret no one tells I guess is that you need to have a lot of mop brushes for blending. In the tutorials from other painters it just looked like they were using the same brush the whole time and I was frustrated why my blending is not working. I intuitively thought about it but only after watching your blending tutorial is when I went to the store to buy a few more. I was thinking if they can do it with one brush why can’t I😂 but my intuition was right! Thank you for your tutorials without letting out the little details that really matter!

      sorry if I am not understanding your comment entirely, but I do tell all the little details - like needing multiple mop brushes. I say this many times in my acrylic blending videos.

      @LaurasBeatingArt  Рік тому +1

      I showed the entire process.. if I used any water (and I don't believe I did) I would have mentioned it in the video and you'd see me doing it on the camera view on the right. The trick is to use very thin paint and work very quickly. If your paint is too thick, try adding some water to your brush, not the paint.

  • @haphazardacrylics

    I've been scared to use my mop brushes this way because I was afraid the paint would dry in the bristles before having the chance to clean them out, which would make them lose softness/ability to blend smoothly. Now that I'm seeing this, I'll have to try it out! Thank you!

    my paint is absorbing super quickly and making blending a bit sloppy. I'm using medium weight canvas with a few layers of dried gesso. Your paint goes down easy and covers a lot of area for the amount of paint you're using, mine is gobled up by the canvas within the first couple strokes. What am I doing wrong? I'm new to using acrylics on canvases, usually sculputures and stuff, which does let me get more out of my paint. Should I be wetting the canvas and spritsing the surface?

    • @LaurasBeatingArt
      @LaurasBeatingArt  8 місяців тому +1

      the extra layers of gesso is causing it to dry faster! also, different canvas brands will react differently to paint. for example - i can't blend this way on arteza brand canvas - even with my special method the paint dries extremely quickly. i recommend using fredrix brand canvas!!

    Hi, I'm a beginner to painting but really enjoying it. The 2 biggest ongoing issues I'm having are 1) the canvas texture makes it very hard for me to get an even texture. Is this the kind of canvases I'm using or is there something I need to do to prep the surface to make the paint glide on it like yours does? And 2) The acrylics I'm using dry faster than I can blend them. Could it be the brand of acrylics or is there a product / dilution method that slows the dry time to help with blending?
    Thanks so much!

    • @LaurasBeatingArt
      @LaurasBeatingArt  2 роки тому +1

      1. I'd suggest experimenting with different brands of canvas until you find one that's as smooth as you'd like. The canvas I use is Fredrix Creative Series (yellow label) and it's my favorite. You could try adding some additional layers of gesso to your canvas to make them smoother but it's going to make blending a bit harder (especially if you use my method)
      2. I never use slow drying mediums, so I couldn't make any suggestions on that. I use craft paint and golden fluid acrylics. It works the best for me when blending. You can try adding a bit of water to your acrylics. Keep practicing and you'll get it! :)
