- Author and professor Michael Eric Dyson weights in on Sean "Diddy" Combs alleged 2016 assault on his former girlfriend in the context of America's culture of misogyny.
Diddy is done…and the fact that the video was EXACTLY as Cassie described, verbatim, in the lawsuit is insane. Makes you wonder what truly happened to Kim Porter 😢

@@---Dana---- that's a retarded thing to say. My eyes are opened
As a victim of domestic violence, this makes me sick, and yes, it permeates the culture seemingly without consequence, but Mr. Dyson almost tried to dilute this specific horrific abuse by Diddy by not focusing enough on the egregiousness of this situation, but saying it’s everywhere. We know this, but focusing on one powerful example can be the impetus for change everywhere.
I thought it was the opposite of diluting it. To me diluting it would be to simply explain it away as a part of a very small segment of society (rap culture) whereas he's saying it's everywhere and a huge problem
Half his answer addressed specifically what Diddy did and why he did it (he didn't value a woman as an equal or even a human being with value). He addressed both the specific story and problem overall.
No disrespect intended but it feels like part of the problem is no answer is ever good enough and people trying to draw attention to the problem in good faith just get criticized
I noticed that too. Dyson's number one strategy is to say, "Yes it's deplorable, but let's look at it in the larger context. It's Everywhere!! Let me give you a very long list of the Other places it is, without ever discussing the person/atrocity you brought up".
I agree with you 100% but I think this is about money and politics, I asked AI: AI answer about Sean Combs/ Blackrock/ Vanguard/ BOA and $2 billion lawsuit against his sponsors: Diageo Beverage Company sponsored big events with Sean Combs. This entire thing smells of desperation, greed and corruption. Especially if he has been an informant for the FBI.
Diageo, one of the largest beverage alcohol companies in the world, has a diverse portfolio of brands including Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Baileys, and Smirnoff. The company is predominantly owned by institutional investors.

Regarding Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, he has been involved with Diageo through a partnership centered on the Ciroc vodka brand since 2007. This collaboration was highly successful, leading to significant growth for Ciroc. However, in June 2023, Combs filed a lawsuit against Diageo, alleging racial discrimination and claiming the company failed to honor their agreements related to Ciroc and DeLeón Tequila. Combs sought $2 billion in damages, accusing Diageo of neglecting these brands due to racial bias.
Diageo is a British multinational beverage alcohol company, renowned for its wide range of spirits, beer, and wine brands. Some of its most well-known brands include Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Baileys, and Smirnoff. The company operates globally and is one of the largest players in the alcoholic beverage industry.
Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has had a significant relationship with Diageo through a business partnership involving the Ciroc vodka brand. In 2007, Combs entered into a strategic alliance with Diageo to develop the Ciroc brand, acting as a brand ambassador and handling marketing and promotion. This partnership was highly successful, leading to substantial growth in Ciroc’s market presence and sales.
In June 2023, Sean Combs filed a lawsuit against Diageo, alleging racial discrimination and claiming that the company had failed to fulfill their contractual obligations. The lawsuit alleged that Diageo had not adequately invested in and promoted Ciroc and DeLeón Tequila, another brand co-owned by Combs. He claimed that this negligence was due to racial bias, resulting in significant financial losses. Combs sought $2 billion in damages in this lawsuit. Diageo denied these allegations and maintained that they had honored their agreement with Combs.
The legal dispute highlights the complexities and challenges that can arise in high-profile business partnerships, especially when they involve significant financial stakes and issues of racial equity.
@@maskedmarvyl4774 So you think it's a better strategy for awareness to stay hyper-focused on Diddy, a billionaire weirdo that nobody will relate too where it can chalked up to the individual rather than making the point it is everywhere because misogyny is a huge problem in society in general, even in places you don't normally think of as being misogynistic?
I don't understand the complaint here. It would be one thing if saying it is everywhere was done in a way to minimize it but he's not doing that at all. He's saying it's everywhere and needs to be stamped out everywhere in society to stop it

I thought it was worth bringing up as I've seen a lot of it in our two faced "humanity culture". Isn't it so interesting that American men are so protective that they warn us about all these other countries, how women are treated. But take a close enough look at our own culture before making any judgement aimed towards anyone else. Many of these so called "protective American men", are commiting some of the most heinous crimes.
I've learned that must of the men in many other cultures, are so much more humane than those who are trying to tear down men of other cultures. Almost as if they're trying to keep us women in check, afraid to leave. They don't want us to realize that there are real men who actually treat their women better than their cars.
