Thank you for your kind words, Kirt. I’ve just been totally busy with a lot of side issues. Hopefully, I can get back on track soon. Thank you for your loyal support.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
First of all thank you for your service to our country and protecting our freedom. That was one tough machine, I have seen many like them sadly to say. Like you said you just have to keep playing and taking the good with the bad. I've been invited to that casino but have not make it down there yet, I hope too some day. Thanks for sharing John and I hope to see you again some time to play a few sessions. Take care.
Hi Jeff, Thank you for your kind words. It was so cool to reconnect with my shipmate who served with me on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Forrestal, in the 1970’s. Even though 48 years had passed, we picked-up right where we had left off playing guitar together aboard ship during our off hours. As for the Hard Rock, I ended well in the next session, as you will see in the next video. Last night, I went to Harrah’s SoCal on some free play and cashed out $300. With that I swung by Pechanga & played that $300 through the machines & hit 4 Aces twice for $400 & $800 each (I coined-up to the $2 coin denomination), then I hit a few more Quads. So the machines giveth, taketh, and then giveth back again!😊 Thank you for your viewership & comments, my friend. Take care!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I love to win but if I can go and play for a while and come out around even, I'm happy. I just love to play video poker, it calms me and I can forget about things for a while. Also there is nothing better than playing along side a friend to root each on or poke fun and talk about old times. Continued luck John and looking forward to your next video.@@johnsworldofvideopoker
That’s nice you re-connected with your friends after almost 50 years, I bet you had a lot to talk about. My husband used to be in a band & he recently reconnected with a former band member he hadn’t seen in 50 years (through Facebook as well) we met in Las Vegas last month we had a blast, he’s a really nice guy & so is my husband . Amazing how fast time flies. Can’t wait for part 2 I hope you got a good win.
Hi John. With the evening crowds or weekend crowds at some casinos I prefer to not go. Like you mentioned, when machines aren’t hitting, it’s not easy to just get up and find another machine when it’s crowded. Love the morning hours! Looking forward to the next video. And as always it’s nice when we see each other
Yes, indeed. I too prefer to go on the non-peak hours and have my pick of machines. Thank you for your friendship and support. Great job on your channel, Jiro & Jasmin!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Always great to see you post a video John! Glad you got to see some old buddies. I feel guys you served with are always the ones you can reconnect with the easiest. Good luck and hope to run into you in Vegas this year! Or Pechanga!😅
Hi, Mason, nice to hear from you. Great job in growing your channel. Hopefully, we can cross-paths again sometime this year. Keep up the great work. My best to Ashley. Take care, my friend.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I do enjoy making videos but have been tending to a lot of things that have needed to get done. Little by little, I’ll be back on track. Thank you for your comments and loyal support.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Last Sat at Red Rock I was dealt 4 aces with a kicker for 4k. 2 hours later dealt 4 caes with an 8, drew foe the kicker and got the 3 for 20k. I have been killing it since moving to Vegas in Aug, 17 handpays over 61k total, that's not profit though, I am still way up. I have also had a few roals on BP, most hits have been TDB.
Yes….the machine was stubborn and just wouldn’t roll, but it happens. Things turn around for the better on the next video. Thank you for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Greetings from Torrance! Wow, almost 50 years have passed since you have met with your friends. I still keep in touch with a few friends from High School and I mentioned how we are all starting to look like our parents. You know.......old. Years ago, my Dad went to his 70th high school reunion in Utah. I asked him how it was and if he had remembered anyone. He didn't remember anyone and the ones he remembered had passed away. It was a very small reunion. If people ask me "How long has it been since High School?" I tell people that High School was 85lbs ago :) Thanks again John!
Thank you for posting your words of wisdom, Paul. You always bring up good points. Your father’s experience gives one “pause” about the ephemeral nature of life. Be kind to everyone, work hard, invest for the long-term, cherish your family and friends, and recognize the fragility of life. Life is fulfilling and happiness is achievable by balancing all of the above. Thank you for being my friend.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi, Becky. Yes, that was a tough session and because the casino was crowded (along with fewer video poker machines) I wasn’t able to scout out other machines right away until things died down a little. Still, I had a great time exploring a new property. Can’t wait to go there again one day, and give it another shot. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@Beckysvideopokeringaround Yes, they do. They have tons of Super Times Pay machines for you too. The pay tables may not be, all that, but I think you would really like it there. The high limit areas have good pay tables. Great job on your channel, Becky!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Any shot if you called IGT they'd tell you the impact of changing denoms or if RNG changes between denoms? I think I recall you knowing a couple of people there...Thanks!
You’ll notice that when you switch denominations, the cards change on the screen to the last hand held on that newly selected denomination. It would not surprise me that each game has its own RNG for that reason. But it could be all the games share just one central RNG. Both, Slotmassacre & I, have personally asked different people at IGT, at different times, over the years, and we always get conflicting answers, from different people. Unless we’re able to meet a hardware engineer directly, we’ll probably never know for sure. My experience with switching denominations leads me to believe that every game operates “independently” of all the others, and I suspect there may be multiple RNG’s within a machine. The casinos can select several different pay tables for each game (which changes the payback percentage of each game). Assuming that each game has at least 5 different pay tables & there’s at least 20+ games or more available in each machine. I would doubt there are 100+ RNG’s in a machine, but rather, the games may share the use of multiple RNG’s. It’s probably best to assume that changing the denomination, changes the RNG in use, or it may “re-set” a single RNG being used for all the games. Good for thought.😉🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
John, I enjoy your videos and knowledge! I have been playing VP at HR Tampa for close to 20 years when they got class 3 machines. I have never seen it as bad as it's been the past 2 years. It's almost like these are paying back at 80 percent like the slot machines, and I sometimes play .25 or .50 denom 8 5 Jack's or better I still lose rapidly. Your session was typical or even better than typical. I am not the only one a lot of VP players I know have been complaining about it Sorry I missed you. Please let me know when you come back if you ever do.
Thank you for your insights and commenting on my channel. Yes, the casinos are replacing older machines with new ones and installing poorer pay tables too. Although, I see here, (in Pechanga), that they put in new machines and kept the good pay tables intact. Hopefully that trend of good pay tables continues. I’m sure that one day, I’ll return to Hard Rock, Tampa and we could meet. Thank you for your comments and subscribing to my channel.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
This session sums up perfectly my recent play, no quads, occasional trip, rare full house, some 2 pairs, a few pairs and tons of almost something. Waste your time and take all your money!
Yes, these kinds of sessions do come along from time to time and are “lackluster”. Hopefully, we can keep them to a minimum. Let’s hope that we can find those machines that are (more often than not) on a good roll. Good luck and thank you for watching.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi, Susie. My 2nd session at the Hard Rock, Tampa, Florida will be featured in my next video. Thank you for watching and for your loyal viewership.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
John, I was thinking about you earlier today, hadn’t heard from you in a while. Definitely a rough session, I could hear it in your voice. I’m gonna be in Vegas on Thursday, Any chance the stars collide?
Hi Tony. Yes, that session was lackluster, no doubt. Things turned around for me though quickly after that when I moved onto another machine and eventually into the high limit room, but I’m saving that for the next video.😊 I so look forward to finally meeting you in 2024, you’ve been my biggest supporter of the channel. This Thursday, I wouldn’t be able to make it, but I do believe it’ll happen sometime this year. Good luck in Vegas and please keep me posted, my friend. Take care.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Glad to hear things turned around for you, always enjoy your videos and your wealth of knowledge during your commentary. I’ll be back in Vegas March 9-12. We will make it happen this year. Can’t wait for the next video. Thanks, John.
John, are you 100% certain when the machine is rolling and you up your bet the RNG doesn't change? Another slot channel said on VP when you chage bets it's like changing to a different machine. My confusion awaits your wisdom Best🥰
I have noticed lately that (when a machine is on a “hot run”) that the moment I switch to a higher denomination, that machine suddenly, “goes cold“. Perhaps it is possible, that by switching to a higher denomination, a different RNG is employed. However, most of all my big runs, for big money, have occurred on machines that were “running hot” and kept running hot no matter how many times I switched to the higher denominations. Besides, the RNG’s are completely random, and it shouldn’t make any difference anyway. But, perhaps it would be wise, (if a machine is running hot), to stay on that denomination until that hot streak starts to whither and then switch to a higher denomination. Also, switching back & forth from lower to higher and then back down to lower denomination (where it should still be running hot) would work as well. In other words, collect a lot of coinage at the lower denomination, and then switch to a higher denomination to reap the rewards on house money, even if it’s not running hot like the lower denomination was. I was playing on a $1, $2, $5 denomination machine at Pechanga that was running hot on the $1 coin denomination, and kept doing so on the $2, & $5 denominations as well, so I would go lower to collect a lot of coins and then use that “house money” on the five dollar coin, denomination, and low and behold, a 4 to the Royal showed up, so I held it and I hit the $20,000 royal on the five dollar coin denomination. The RNG just kept rolling in spite of the denomination changes. Personally, I scale-up regardless, particularly if I’m up on house money from the lower denomination.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I’ve heard from, Slotmassacre, that at one time, the Wendover casinos, were the best kept secret in video poker with so many great pay tables across all the games. Much has changed over time, but I’m sure that they still offer some great pay tables such as 8/5 BP & probably others as well. One of these days, I would love to go there and play. Thank you for your viewership & comments.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker yeah the pay tables are pretty good no doubt and I’m from utah too so it’s the closest casinos I can go to but definitely come give wemdover a visit and yeah I love your videos Johs world
I was just passing-through the Hard Rock for a quick stop (on the way to the airport) and didn’t have time to scout out the machines and it was a very busy and crowded Saturday night to boot. I chose the first 2 open machines that I could find, but later, I went to the high limit room and played 8/5 Bonus Poker (my game of choice) to play the $10 coin denomination machines. I hit quad 5’s on the $10 coin denomination for $1,250 and then immediately left for the airport. That was my very 1st visit to the Tampa area and that casino. My local casinos in Southern California have 8/5 BP, but if I’m in a market that only has 7/5 BP (which is a medium pay table), I will still play them. It’s not an optimal pay table, but nonetheless, I have hit close to $100,000 in Royal Flushes playing them. Thanks for watching, and also thanks for the info on the Hard Rock pay tables. I will check them out thoroughly the next time I visit.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Yes, indeed, 6/5 BP pay tables are “no bueno”, 7/5 BP (while not ideal) can still yield a lot of Royals. I have managed to win $70,000+ playing them in casinos that don’t happen to feature 8/5 BP. Naturally, I would always select an 8/5 BP pay table (when it’s available), but when it isn’t, a 7/5 BP pay table can still get the job done (although it may consume a little more of your bankroll to get there). But I agree with you, stay away from a 6/5 BP pay table at all costs.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
John, your lack of an answer is confusing the heck out of me. Do you know the answer? Hope your ok because the lack of reply with only likes is so out of character.
What is the EV of holding 3 to the straight flush vs holding the ace in 7/5 BP? Just curious… Also, I don’t ever recall him claiming to play VP for living.
You are correct that holding 3 to a Straight Flush is the correct “long term strategy hold” vs. holding a single Ace. And that “my hold”increased the House odds “against me” by an additional 14.2%. However, the 1st card out was a 2♦️& the 2nd card out was a Q♣️. Neither of those would have given me the Straight Flush. I played a “short term strategy” because, holding 3 to an open Straight Flush only, hits 1 out of 360 times, vs. holding a single Jacks or Better card, which converts (to a pair of Jacks or higher) 1 out of 3.9 times held. So the “odds” (in the short term) were “better” using the “incorrect” hold. I appreciate your comment. You are entirely right! The correct long term strategy was to hold for the Straight Flush. Many of my subscribers have texted me about how some of my concepts have helped them hit very large ($8,000, $20,000, $40,000, $100,000 & $200,000) Royals (that they wouldn’t have normally hit otherwise), without using some of my principles towards the game. I’m not a perfect player by any means (very few players even approach that), but I have inspired others to consider my approach and many have won very big Royals that they could never have imagined before as a result of watching my channel. I am semi-retired, and UA-cam is not a means of my making a living. I enjoy the video making process and helping others reach their goals in video poker. I do appreciate your comment though because you’re helping others understand that a long term strategy is the best approach to the games. Thank you for that.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I was invited to IGT Headquarters in Reno as part of an event to sponsor Video Poker & Slot player Influencers. I learned that all the cards are randomly shuffled continuously by a Random Number Generator (RNG) and that they randomly get dealt out from left to right. They are not placed. There are no gimmicks. The cards are dealt out randomly. Video poker is a negative expectation game. The pay table odds over the long term generate a profit to the casino. That, coupled with player error creates even more profit. There’s no reason to “alter” or “influence” the machine in any way, because the math of the game inherently generates a profit since in the long term the pay back is less than 100%. The “randomness” is what makes the game great. The average odds of hitting a Royal is once every 43,000 hands, but because of “randomness” I hit 3 Royals in 3 hours for a total of $110,000 off of a single $100 Bill which was won off of $15 free play a few weeks before. The first Royal hit on a 4 to the Royal hold, for $2,000 (50¢ coin denomination), the 2nd Royal hit on a 1 to the Royal hold for $8,000 $2 coin denomination), the 3rd Royal hit on a 3 to the Royal hold for $100,000. That all happened within 3,000 hands instead of 43,000 hands X 3 coin cycles of 43,000. I just kept playing on house money and scaled-up the coin denominations from 50¢ coin denom, to $2 coin denom, to $25 coin denom, and hit a Royal on each of the 3 denomination (50¢, $2, & $25 coin denominations) I used house money to do it all. Randomness is “the key” to riches in video poker. It is “randomness” that allows “anything to happen in the “short term” vs. the “probability” of what would normally happen in the long term (1 trillion hands). Perfect strategy helps beat the odds, but randomness is the key to winning, in spite of the “law of averages” on the long term odds set by the pay table. 😉🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Thank you, Barry. I appreciate your viewership.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
7:45 you hold 567 of hearts and hit 2 pair.
Why play a 7-5 game? The Hard Rock has 9-6 Double Bonus Deluxe.
6/ 5 is no doable.7/5 is bad as well.
🙄 I didn't see your reply till now. Apologies.
I lost my comment when I left the screen momentarily & had to redo it. My bad.😊🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
No worries. It got lost on my end. I appreciate your input and comments. Thank you.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Thanks, John, for keeping it clean on your videos - it's nice NOT to hear profanity 😃
Yes, I agree that decorum is the more appropriate way to go in a public setting. Thank you, for your comment.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
20:08 you made the most boneheaded play. You cost yourself a straight flush!!!!! I can’t get over you do this for a living.
What is the EV of holding 3 to the straight flush vs holding the ace in 7/5 BP? Just curious… Also, I don’t ever recall him claiming to play VP for living.
@@ThePropertyHustler true. I’m baffled.
Thank you for that.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
How do you know the direction this machine comes out? They may be placed.
