i buy pops because i like them, i dont worry about the value going up or down.

I try not to pay attention to the prices of the pops when they 1st come out on the secondary market. I check back about a month or two . To see where they settled at.

Hi John, another great video, 1 thing I have to say is your doing American prices, I think you should do prices for overseas like Australia where I am. If a pop is say $30- in America it's about double for us here at Australia. I like the Loch Ness ann the Red Hades pop,I love the Freddy Funko as Darth maul pop. The Captain Kirk pop is Cool too, Keep up the good work from Dave in Australia.

What is also going on is Pops are dying. Now, I love Funko pops, and I collect them. However, the main reason for the plummeting value for these Funko Pops is due to the concept of Pops dying.
Honestly, I have to disagree with you on that. After seeing the lines at NYCC of people waiting for hours on end just for a few pops and sodas, and most of the exclusives weren't even that great in my opinion. That was happening at events all over the country throughout the year. I don't think Pops are dying, I think people are just being more selective and Funko is over-producing a lot of lazy figures.
It’s your money, you can do anything you want with it but it doesn’t matter how much money you have because nobody likes paying big money for something only to watch it drop drop drop in value. there was some excellent information in today’s video that all new collectors need to know.(I’m not trying to act better than anybody. I’m trying to help people save money because I know what I’m talking about. Just because I didn’t know when I started doesn’t mean other people don’t have to know when they start.) some of the best advice I can give new collectors is to never pay big money for any hot topic exclusive(of course there are exceptions. Very few exceptions. It pays to do research when spending a premium on a pop. doing some homework before spending money on an expensive pop is definitely worth way more than the amount of time you put into finding the information you are looking for, especially when your research helps you discover you were about to pay way more for something than it is worth. there are many hot topic exclusive out there that are worth big money because they are vaulted so they should never be made again so the longer time goes on the fewer and fewer there will be, especially in decent condition, on the aftermarket platforms for sale and the more they dry up the more expensive they get but for the most part almost every hot topic pop can and will get restocked even if you think it can’t happen to your pop it can because they got restocked years after they came out plenty of times.) because hot topic’s #1 Objective has absolutely nothing to do with people having fun, just like every other business hot topic is trying to make as much money as possible and a great way to make money is to sell something for a cheaper price that you are still making a profit you’re happy with than your competition (even if your competition is aftermarket platforms.) like restocking a pop that sells all day on eBay no problem for Way more than retail at retail. Hot topic is doing absolutely nothing wrong when exercising these business practices, Hot topic is not out to get us, it’s not illegal and it’s not immoral either restocking a popular item that is selling for way more than you can offer it for brand new is good business that any other business would do if they have the opportunity. do you like making fast easy money? So does hot topic. if you could be happy selling something for $15 while making a profit you’re happy with when everybody else is selling it for $100, would you make that quick easy money?so would Hot topic (and every other business out there no matter what they have for sale), hot topic loves making quick easy money just as much as the rest of us. people and businesses do things we don’t like all the time that we have absolutely no control over but when you know what a business is going to do because you have seen them do it time after time after time for years you can use that information to collect smart and get the most bang for your buck while having a great time enjoying the hobby. collecting smart does not mean you are a cheapskate, there’s nothing embarrassing about using coupons and taking advantage of sales as much as you can, educated collectors have the most fun because when you spend as little as possible on pops that means you have more money to spend on other pops and when you’re constantly buying pops every dollar you save adds up fast. A very very smart way to go about buying hot topic exclusive pops that are not for sale at hot topic anymore is to set yourself a price limit you are comfortable paying and don’t spend more than the line you draw in the sand (spending more than your limit isn’t really having a limit. But like I said it’s your money and you can do anything you want with it, LMAO.), stick to your limit and you will be extremely happy in the long run because when Hot topic restocks a pop you paid a premium for on The aftermarket (don’t lie to yourself thinking that will never happen to you. You better believe it can happen to you just like it has happened to all of us. The longer you collect the more you will see that they do this a lot.) you will not feel like some jerk pulled the rug out from under you because you are prepared and you will not be that disappointed because you knew what you were risking when you bought the pop in the first place, when you don’t have fall too far it doesn’t hurt as bad when you crash down to earth. it doesn’t matter how high or low you set your limit as long as you’re comfortable with the limit you set for yourself, it’s hard to have self control collecting but self control builds character and when you have great character you always win the race, I haven’t paid more than $350 for a hot topic exclusive cents I set my own personal price limit 4 months ago and I’ve been having a great time collecting, like I said great character always wins the race. just remember everybody, when new hot topic exclusives(especially when there is a chase) come out and sell out then quickly go up on the aftermarket for expensive prices don’t pay those expensive prices, they will most likely restock and most of the ones that don’t restock drop in value. Great video today slap shot! we all want to stay positive but there’s nothing wrong with remembering bad things happen. Nobody likes hearing bad news and nobody likes giving bad news because it’s a thankless job but somebody has to do it and you did it today, kudos slap shot, kudos! there’s nothing wrong with keeping it real, finding out about values dropping is just as important as finding out about them moving up and everybody knows it. there’s no such thing as having too much information, when you’re serious about something even if it’s just a hobby it’s in your best interest to get as much information as possible and use it the best you can to your advantage whether it’s positive information or negative information. keep up the great work and great content! Don’t stop shooting till you get the most bang for your buck!

It is always interesting to see these pops going up and down in price and see where they end up settling in at! The NFTs do seem to go down quite drastically and fast so would definitely hold off on getting any of them right off the bat!!

It’s a little disappointing that Darth Maul Freddy has gone down that much, but he won’t ever leave my collection either way. At least the Loch Ness Monster is low enough now for me to pick up that bad boy up.

I just saw one of my pops drop $30-40 and another almost double in price in the last couple of weeks! Just like the stock market, changes are dramatic sometimes.

It seems reasonable why most of these pops went down. Re-releasing and restocks and other versions. I got my darth maul Freddy for about $110-$115 when the market was still fresh and I got the Mighty Thor for $25 when it was popular so they’re in my collection so I don’t care about the value but it’s interesting to see the fluctuation Forsure! Back to vacation! Had to make sure I got my daily UA-cam video in🤣😁❤️ fantastic video guys! Keep up the great work!

The only Pops I collect is mostly anime, some video games like Kingdom Hearts, Persona 4, and Sonic, Marvel but only the characters that are in their comic book design aka the boxes that just have the Marvel logo as the main license, certain cartoon characters like Flocked Courage the Cowardly Dog, Transformers, and Star Wars mainly the Clone Wars Pops or just certain characters I love

I just bought a new jollibee champ regular and chase funko pop online from overseas..I was very lucky to have purchased both funko pops at a very good price and I'm so happy to have purchased it for less than 60 dollars whereas buying on ebay costing more than a 100 dollars each..

Trying to make sense of the Funko market baffles me sometimes. They don’t make sense, the lady Thor was a big drop in price, I have seen a drop in the Original Michealangelo turtle pop and in the white ranger pop the white ranger baffles me though we are about hit the 30th anniversary of the power rangers. But like you say at the end they are in the collection for what they mean to me not there value :)

Another interesting video with these prices. Some of them are surprising. We finally set up an account to get NFT's just for when Ghostbusters and Stranger Things show up but I also have wondered about in the end if it might make more sense to by them out right after they dip down. Every movie gets mixed reviews
True, but some movies are more liked by a majority of people in most cases, like Avengers Infinity war for example.
The Remy pop gets me as well but most people bought it to sell it because it was limited. I’m holding mine because ratatouille is one of my favorite movies.

Outstanding observations, guys. The first few had a pattern: Funko made extremely similar molds and it hurt the value of the OG version. Funko should maybe stop taking the cheap way out and, therefore, setting BOTH molds up for success.
I agree 100% with you on that! Unfortunately, they don’t design their lines that way and seem to have tunnel vision with newer products

I pulled the freddy funko as Darth Maul from my first BOF and I will never sell it regardless of the price drop. Even though I am not a huge Star Wars fan, the mold is absolutely amazing. It is one of my favorite freddys right now.

Hi I've just found out about funko changing its pricing and my pops have gone through the roof probably my whole collection by a few grand yay, I collect game of thrones, stranger things, back to the future, lord of the rings, horror plus a load of little ones like Vikings and sons of anarchy so I'm a happy girl, great video too

Mostly true about the NFT pops, however lately with their tendency to release previously unreleased characters (like Foghorn Leghorn) and some of the new horror ones, I believe those have longevity as grails between the limited piece counts and the fact that they're the first representation of said character, but on the other side of the coin, there's the Game of Thrones set...with zero new characters lol missed opportunity
