I don’t like how high the text is on the front side of the CAC label. The top line is partially obscured by the edge of the window. It would look nicer if they shifted the text a little lower.
Sadly there is a bit of truth to this statement. I don't have many slabs but do have a Morgan date set in all PCGS V1.2 holders (Rattlers). They aren't special holders but what was available when I built the set. I have been offered stupid money for the set. Most aren't exceptional coins but all wrapped in old plastic that can't even keep the coins still. I should probably just sell it before slab mania fades away.
If there is ONLY ONE reason to buy a slabbed coin is the fact that a coin is authenticated as authentic and real and it will let us know if the coin was tampered with/cleaned. I don't know how many times I've seen a " Profesional" send a coin out to be graded and to the collectors suprise.....it comes back CLEANED. I don't want a cleaned coin. A cleaned coin to me is a damaged coin...TRASH.......and if I'm gonna pay good money for a coin....I don't want it cleaned and WILL pay a little extra for someone to Verify that I have not only an authentic coin.....but a coin that hasn't been tampered with....sure....I can tell to a certain extent if a coin has been fooled with.....but a second set of eyes under a more powerful magnification.....that's what your paying for....the market is FLOODED with fake and cleaned coins....
Even though I keep my slabs in either a PCGS or NGC box, I enclose each slab in the "wrapper" to keep them from getting scratched. I rarely, if ever, stack them. I keep them wrapped until I pull them out to magnify or closely inspect them. Hopefully, when CACG develops a holder for their slabs, they won't be as expensive as NGC holders. OBTW I ordered four tops from Borup_Coins to enable me to place my NGC and PCGS slabs in date order to make it easier to keep track of. Thanks for all you do for us collectors, Ben.,
Thank you for the report on the new CAC holders, at least the sample slabs. Future generations of them may change over time. Wouldn't be surprised they will also introduce their own branded plastic boxes.
I wonder if PCGS and NGC (and now CAC) realize how petty them seem, by deliberately making sure their respective slabs, don't fit in the other's boxes. Thanks for the video.
They definitely went for the PCGS look, both slab and label. I can't blame them since PCGS is the top dog. I do question why they have a green bean printed on the label. I understand they are going for brand recognition, but that could confuse with their own CAC service. Which of course, they won't do on CACG graded coins. At the very least the bean could be a different color and show CACG.
It's cool how they went with the old school NGC "fatty" holder AND the PCGS "old green" color. 🙂 Pretty sure that was intentional. 😉 He seems to favor the older holders when stickering.
First, there was NGC, PCGS, and ANACs to grade coins. Then, there was CAC to "grade the graders." Next, there will be "graders to grade those who grade the graders." Count me in!
Awesome stuff. Remember when we had cassette tape cases with faux velvet on the inside. We need that for the slabs so it's one size fits all. For me, the big question regarding CAC grading is where it will rank as far as strictness of grade and after market value.
I like PCGS holders. They just looks the best. And they are extremely easy to polish out scratches. The CAC holders are PCGS copies. And I honestly cannot blame them.
Hi Ben! Hmm... I'm not sure how I feel about CAC grading coins. I've always felt the CAC stickers hold more value, since it's a second opinion on the grade of the coin, on top of the NGC or PCGS grade opinion! 😎
I love when I watch a video and the topic is abstracted with talk of other things. What is ngc? What is pcgs? We came for CAC! Hey how about weight, dimensions? Cool, just talking about falling … how cool? lol
I'm pretty underwhelmed by the design. Sure its not about the holder, but when you have an important picture to hang on your wall, you want the frame to look nice, too.
@@okgroomer1966 I really don't know, but to me this design seems basic and not very modern. They need a someone who is talented at packaging design to figure out something nicer. ANACS has the same problem. Their holders just don't look good.
I agree. There's no question that they could have stepped up in the slab design. Like when Apple got away from their plain drab looking old school computer cases and moved to stylish designs. Come on guys, hire a designer or something!
my brother in law works for CAC. he says the holders are indestructable. it be great to see if he is wrong. he says the CAC will stack with the competition but it has to be on the top of the stack. this was designed on purpose.
Have him wager money on Arizona car.... Arizona car defeats everything if it's parked in the sun. You have to wait hours to pull wheel lugnuts and not wear thick gloves, even parked in the shade.
Nicely designed (I must admit, even though I'm a slab-hater). A plus that they left some space at the top of the reverse for labels...I've seen a lot of price tags and such obliterating the bar codes on other slabs.
He did say that and it was the plan. He said in a recent interview that it didn’t work out though because above all else he’s put protection of the coin #1 and the ultimate design didn’t stay within the parameters to fit into a Pcgs box
Ngc charges for no scratch holders i think its a scam . They should automatically put the coins in non scratch holders . The normal ones scratch really easily 😢
Rating modern holders on appearance only I rate #5 Anacs ( just god awful yellow pieces of $hit) #4 NGC ( clean looking but boring) #3 ICG ( can’t grade for $hit but don’t look bad) #2 CACG ( great plastic strength and color but font is blocky and 👎🏿 #1 PCGS ( clean and professional but still missing a opportunity like the others to step it up a notch)
WOW these are going for $225 sold comp 7/13/23 on Ebay...that is way higher then the PCGS Rattler samples that have an actual silver coin in them....Wowzers
It's not really a joke that people collect plastic now, the coin is a sideshow. Sure the coin is important (sometimes), but not as important as what the slab says. Look how inflated the prices for sticker coins are. A MS64 CaC coin commands more than the MS65 in many cases. If it's a Rattler with a gold sticker you just hit the jackpot. People don't care if you have the nicest MS 64 Morgan to ever see a slab. If it doesn't say MS 65 or more it's just not a gem. We all see it happen, Ben's channel is a steady stream of grading head scratches but most buyers can't look past the slab label.
I worked around an auto center in Phoenix in the early 90s- can't tell you how many VHS tapes were removed from dashboards, floors, passenger seats. Turned into a puddle... There can't possibly be a slab that can handle an Arizona car- I'll drop that wager in Reno. Do all the cac slabs have the green bean or is this for marketing?
I’m pretty sure the green bean on the label is their logo - so it should be on all of them. Now if you’ll excuse me I have an 8 track to remove with a spatula from my dash
Hey Ben, When I did had graded sports cards I always put them in the protective sleeves to prevent scratching - which leads me to the questions of how well do they fit in storage boxes> In addition, you did a video with someone that made some creative holders so that various types of SLABS fit in storage boxes. The new CAC holders seems to be a "plain Jane" (no offense to Jane) type of holder - perhaps this is so nothing detracts from the coin. Best Wishes
Hi Ben. CRACK OUT! That's what I want to see. If you live in Tucson, don't leave plastic in a hot car. Of course, the CAC holder doesn't fit in a PCGS box. There is another holder that I will not collect just for the holder. I don't care how many labels they use either. I just want a coin graded and for the holder to fit in the box.
Film a race between the 3 only acceptable grading companies in an Arizona car- maybe allow Anacs in as a dark horse? We could tailgate and drop wagers?
Is the sticker on the outside of the slab?I see that their name is not printed on the label. Are they gonna put the sticker on the outside of every holder.I think they should incorporate their bean design onto the label itself.
Crackout challenge accepted. I can open the NGC ones without even breaking them. Only done it twice with pcgs holders. These look tough as you don't get a seem to work.
I'm wondering will these "new" CACG Holders will be on Heritage Auctions. Has anyone have information on this ??? I'm curious to find out if Heritage will put them on there site. One time back ICG was on Heritage but there quality led to them being taken off of Heritage. If anyone knows about CACG coins going on Heritage please reply. Thank you
No. That won't happen. They can't be a neutral third party. However, it would be funny if PCGS started their own 'bean' service to evaluate CACG coins.
They will probably hand out free sample slabs at the coin shows. PCGS already does that. I got one at the most recent show in Long Beach from the PCGS booth by signing up for a PCGS Registry account to qualify.
None of their slabs will get a sticker. They will only sticker other holders, as it would be repetitive to sticker their own slabs. They do, just by design, have the sticker looking logo on the front.
I dont like PGCS holders because of the four corner plastic tips. It makes holding the slab unpleasant. I don't understand how everyone likes them. I'm a NGC guy and now a CAC guy now. PGCS take notes on how to do it correctly.
I like em. I got a load of coins just sitting waiting on CAC to start taking submissions. Anyone know anything about when they will except from the public???
I'll have to see a CAC holder in hand to judge for myself. My primary gripe with PCGS has been how easily they chip and crack.
I don’t like how high the text is on the front side of the CAC label. The top line is partially obscured by the edge of the window. It would look nicer if they shifted the text a little lower.
Good observation. I should have said that out loud as I thought the same thing.
CAC knows people don't collect coins anymore- only the holders.

I use the "Guardhouse" protector bags. All my ratters are in a bag. I have about 50 of them. I think i can get about 27 rattlers in to a PCGS box.
Thank you for the report on the new CAC holders, at least the sample slabs. Future generations of them may change over time. Wouldn't be surprised they will also introduce their own branded plastic boxes.

Thanks for doing the stack and box test! Been waiting for this
Can’t wait to have a CACG graded coin eventually. Thanks for sharing Ben
I'm so excited about CAC and the future of CACG! I can't wait to get my sample!

Now I get to look forward to having another type of box for my slabs. 😅 Thanks, Ben!
Awesome stuff. Remember when we had cassette tape cases with faux velvet on the inside. We need that for the slabs so it's one size fits all. For me, the big question regarding CAC grading is where it will rank as far as strictness of grade and after market value.
"You'll put your eye out!"... 😂
Just crack 'em with a Dremel if need be.
Is the CACG holder airtight? Before you do a sun test, how about a water dunk test?
Freezer for 5 days, into water, and into the car- all on 24\7 livestream!
For some reason the label made me think of the Numistrust holders….
Yeah
I enjoyed that Ben thanks for sharing. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great demonstration Ben!! I know will leave the new CAC holder in your car for a day or two!! Thank you!!
I'll reserve comments until I see an actual grade on the holder, to see how well they grade coins for the common man and not a company.
Ben, you should start grading the holders
I like PCGS holders. They just looks the best. And they are extremely easy to polish out scratches. The CAC holders are PCGS copies. And I honestly cannot blame them.
someone should do a video on polishing them to demonstrate that it works before we risk ruining ours.
Hi Ben! Hmm... I'm not sure how I feel about CAC grading coins. I've always felt the CAC stickers hold more value, since it's a second opinion on the grade of the coin, on top of the NGC or PCGS grade opinion! 😎
Sorry, I did not mean micrco-chip that can be tracked but a hologram that can pass an authenticity screening
I use a chop saw to break out coins. Looks like it would work perfectly on those.
What exactly are you looking for? Some type of artwork background like NGC ancients? Or a complete redesign of a slab?

Ask if they're polycarbonate? I'm guessing so with how tough they are claimed to be. If so a bandsaw or hot knife will open em in a jiffy.

I thought in a video with John Albanese, a few months ago he said, "CAC slabs will fit into a PCGS box".
Now I need to check my other boxes and make sure I didn’t grab an old one- but I’m sure it was a new one 🤔
He did say that and it was the plan. He said in a recent interview that it didn’t work out though because above all else he’s put protection of the coin #1 and the ultimate design didn’t stay within the parameters to fit into a Pcgs box
The rubber around the coin in the CAC holder draws my eye away from the coin as the rubber is not as clear as the PCGS holder
Great point about testing for heat endurance in a hot car. Why not try that?
Great iVideos

They do look clean! I must admit
Also, an implanted microchip would have been a big plus
the new CAC slabs look a lot more like Acrylic than plastic. A lot nicer in my opinion.

Ben you need to take one of these in the back and start smacking it with the hammer to bust it open like you have in the past.
I'll send you $20 to see you leave that slab in a hot car. That coin is not worth a premium anyhow.
Why would you slab a modern quarter worth 25¢? .coin collecting is becoming all about the holder and less about the coin!
No. This is just a sample of their new slab. So just an example.
Stabbing a modern quarter like a 2020-W quarter is really worth it, if in top grades.
