OMG!! Just loved this funky group sooooooo much!! I want them back NOW!! I used to copy their moves to this song at home. Howard Hewitt YOU'RE THE BOMB!!!!!
That was an awesome, awesome way to begin this song. Great to highlight Jeffrey's popular moonwalk. Jody's smile is electric. Loved it. So much fun being had here.
The Who, The Stones, The Animals, Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds etc etc etc............... You also gave us Jimi Hendrix whose biggest hit in the USA got to number 20 and Purple Haze got to number 65.
this band was so great.... i was 11 when this was out and i bought the album and leanred the bass line...back in the 80s my family were not very well off money wise..so the only way i could obtain records was to cut grass...i recall going to the mall coverd in grass buying this album lol...miss jody surely did well for herself solo..she is a very nice lady i talked to her once..i look around the musical landscape now and i see no one who comes close to some of the ladies in the 80s, miss it all
Same here! I have all the Shalamar singles on vinyl! Started deejaying in 1983, when I was 11 and used to play a lot of their stuff like Night to remember and Dead giveaway at that time (and New edition - Candy girl!)
I feel like crying...some of my favaorite childhood memories. Fab music on Kids Tv when it was good. Loved this group..and I remember the days of Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra Razamataz!!
Kenny Fame - They were hugely popular in the UK. I grew up on the classic 3, say from 1982, 10 years of age, as my older sister was a fan at the time and used to play the 7'' vinyls in her bedroom next to mine, and from there, I purchased the singles for myself and completing the back catalog which I still have! Jeffrey's body popping I used to try copy and do in the school playground and at school discos! He is a Legend! Going to see them in Birmingham, UK in December also! Line up of: Howard Hewett, Jeffrey Daniel and Carolyn Griffey. Cannot wait for that!
It is so amazing how small the universe is because in the states when we saw Michael Jackson do the "Moonwalker" on Motown 25, one year later that was the first time anybody here saw an artist do it (mainstream) we were doing it on the ghetto streets but that was hood. I had no idea how popular Jeffrey Daniels was. I am so stunned by this. I knew he could dance. I knew that he was known as "the pop-along-kid" but still he always was in in the back - Jody Watley was the standout. Go Jeffrey Daniels
He is wearing suitable gear for setting off to Sherwood Forest to meet Maid Marion. Wonderful group this. First heard this track whilst camping at Milford on Sea in Hampshire the summer it was released. Wish I had a time machine to go back there.
Amazing that they wer so close to the edge of breaking up. Makes this song kind of ironic, however I do love this performance and Friends is one of their best songs, such a feel good vibe.
and now we know where madonna got her moves! jody watley. this was a few years before holiday...man even those jumps n the air! shalamar are brilliant and jeffrey is an icon!
Tony, where are you? Are you still in the US Army? All this years I have been worried they would send you to Afghanistan or Irak, I still listen to this, our music and never give up looking for you, Heidi, your Baby
N.B. : was that show "Razzmatazz" popular in the U.K., back in the eighties ...?? Being not native of the U.K. and having spent my pre-1980s days in Belgium, i only know of "Tops Of The Pops" or "The Tube" ...what about that "Razzmatazz", was it popular and welcome major group too ...??
@stilettogroove I meant she didn't sound too friendly toward Howard or Jeffrey. I heard when Babyface covered "For The Lover In You", she refused to be in the same room w/ them while they video was being shot.
BLOODY BRILLIANT.80'S PEOPLE,PLEASE GET IN TOUCH!
We are listening and watching.
How do you put such wholesome lyric to such an awesome rhythm to create such a jam? These 70s 80s musicians were truly magical.
Man this is what I call true music.

Shalamar was one of the best bands of the '80s
Maze we're better

one of my favorites...
!!
@MrFrankutube This is a 1970s band which went over the 1980s a little bit..What your hearing sounds more 1970s than typical 1980s music
