Can relate. I lost both of my parents in 2022 while trying to graduate from university. What I wouldn't give to see them once more. To see their smiles -, to talk to them -, to hug them one more time. I miss them both so much. ;(

Such an Emotional performance. James Blount helped him through it. Iam lost his Dad 2 months before he auditioned for American Idol and he sang this song in his audition. James Blount wrote this song for his Dad who was dying. That's why Iam chose it for his audition 😢
I'm 61 years old, I lost my father 6 years ago, this has to me my 30th time hearing Iam sing this song of James', and I am still blubbering on this viewing.

Iam father passed away a few months ago. James Blunt wrote this song when his dad was very sick, but he made it through. His father is still living. That's why James Blunt is almost holding Iam up. It's also when James put his hand on Iam, what a tear jerker. I can't stop crying when I listen to all the songs. So happy Iam won, he surely deserved it. Also very happy for Hawaii, this is their first that ever won there. It's so nice seeing all the people in Hawaii honking their horns and so happy. Love always. Ontario, Canada

My interpretation of the "Monsters" is Death it is the main enemy of us human beings James Blunt wrote this song for his dying dad. For Iam Tongi his dad passed two months prior to his American Idols Audition. Very sad n emotional song. You can tell in James Blunt voice the pain n the cry but he can hold on, with Iam emotion brings tears to his eyes very proud of him he finished the song with James Blunt. Very beautiful soul.

🤣😂😪😔 This is always the problem when reactors churn out songs. But this being such an emotional song you would think it would have more of an impact. Sadly when I see this happen I unsubscribe to the channel, as I am already subscribed to far too many reaction channels. So my journey here has come to an end. I'm sure that I wont be missed. 👋
He sometimes reacts to the same song/artist and somehow doesn't even know it, or checks his own videos.
Not to mention when he first started his other channel, he was using a random female in his thumbnails and adding a billion tag words in his descriptions to gain traction in the algorithm.. Which I've heard recently that UA-cam is detecting and suppressing channels that add too many tags now.

James blunt wrote this song about 10 years ago when his own father was dying of kidney failure. He was in desperate need of a transplant and no donor could be found. James wrote this song so his father could know the depths of his love. Happily, because of the popularity of the song, a donor was found and he was able tp get the transplant and survived. Iam was the contestant on Idol and sang this song as a tribute to his own father who had just passed 2 months before the audition. James's video is truly gut-wrenching. You should check it out. And Iam won the show.
"I'm not your son, You're not my father" He is tossing all of the parent/child drama and baggage to the curb and placing themselves on even ground.
The song really hurts me. The last time I saw my father was when I walked out of the front door and this old Marine was weeping like a child begging for me to stay. I left him alone in a dark house. I was in the Army and had to return to my unit because we were deploying. My father passed away 3 weeks later.

My father passed away in January last year. Hearing this song made my heart break again. Knowing how iam feels I can relate to his pain.
This whole performance is as heartbreaking as it is beautiful. They are two men on that stage who have lost their dads and the support James Blunt offers Iam is so genuine. Even though James's father survived, I truly believe that both of their fathers were on the stage that night. Also props to Jelly Roll for supporting Iam's mom in the audience.

James Blunt was holding him up. Iam Tongi resently lost his father and it was extremely hard for him to sing this song ( on american idol ) but James Blunt ( singer/songwriter to the song ) tried to hold him up during the song. Extremely beautiful and sad.

Ok where do I start and don’t take it personal. I’m a 67 year young disabled housebound widow. This is the first time watching one of your reactions and needless to say probably the last. Are you human at all? Whether you knew the background or not you didn’t show any signs of emotion that millions of people have felt every time Iam has sang any of the songs he has sang on American Idol. I was shocked that you wanted to blame whoever sent you this video for all your heartless comments you made while listening. Just to be fair I’m going to watch a few other of your reactions because surely there has to be more of you somewhere. Iam is 18 years old and has been singing and training with his father since he was 11 years old. And God sent him at just the right time when our world is so screwed up and millions of people need healing in so many different ways, like me. I live in pain most of every day. I can watch and listen to Iam’s sweet, soothing voice c and his face and YES it takes me to a better place helping me forget my pain. If you life is so perfect that you never need help consider yourself blessed. Please watch Iam’s journey from his first audition until he wins and please react to his last song on American Idol “Cool Down” and then tell us what you think. Lionel Ritchie had an extremely hard time when he lost his father - just like Iam. He did not want any cameras on him during this because he couldn't hold it together. In Iams' audition Lionel also struggled.
