Richard' Thompson's Facebook Live concerts have really been one of the better things about "sheltering in place" these past few months.

I used to play Hand of Kindness album many times in 1984 on my college radio station and frequently played a promo for the station (WIUS Bloomington, Indiana) kindly made by none other than Richard Thompson . The only other promo was made by a guy from New York named... Joey Ramone.... forever grateful for supporting our college station

(8:33) Richard, I'm one of those who bought Henry the Human Fly when it first came out over here on the west coast. Absolutely love every song on that album. Its till my favorite. From the wondrous celtic guitar riffs on Roll Over Vaughn Williams to the last moving tune Ol Changing Way! Thank you for the rare music that can inspire and illuminate one's life.

Yes it was that album . I love that song I cried all the way threw you closed eyed playing it imso happy I found this . Thank you so much for doing this . I just became your 200th thumbs up lol. My aunt before she died in her prime used to throw parties . She would drink a bit to much play her guitar and always played House of the rising son by my request just for me . I miss her so much . I named my daughter after her . This is the first time since the last party she threw that I feel a little like I'm in her living room and she is about to brake out her vhs of elvis movies nice and buzzed and say she would have never kicked him out of bed . Lol. She was a good woman a little wild and crazy I would like to think I learned that from her . Thanks for making me feel that way one more time I have been looking for that . I never got to say goodbye to her. This feels like goodbye. Thanks You .

Thank you RT, for all the times i saw your heart live. Rocky Mount, VA was the last, and thanks for your tribute to Sandy Denny, made me cry. Thanks also for a show outside of Boston, Maura Kennedy & i sat behind you and stared at your "arse" for all but three songs. Your songs speak.

rclanark - I didn't buy HTHF but I have read just about all that Hardy wrote - having done my undergraduate dissertation on him!! I love Hardy's poetry but really adore his short stories (very underrated compared to his novels and poems). If you haven't already read it the Melancholy Hussar and The Withered Arm (Wessex Tales) are wonderful!!

Geoffry Llewellyn Thanks. I bought it and it is still a favourite. Racehorse and Ditching Boy are the best tracks for me and I was delighted to find the latter in this concert. Was looking forward to seeing him in concert in London later this year. These concerts make up for the disappointment unless the virus disappears overnight.

Steve Parkinson, sad to say that songs about bullies are never irrelevant. All of us have known ostracized children like Smiffy; some of us have *been* those children. Also worth noting that these days, even some of the apocryphal "Officer Friendly" types have been replaced by bullies dressed in blue, or black. (BTW, at a concert many years ago RT honored my request and played Smiffy's Glass Eye).
