Tyler v good info re setting up . I am getting the Viper version hopefully in a couple of days, and was wondering how this double pump set up works. Do you use the thicker piston initially and then switch to the narrow one after a certain pressure or what? Thanks again for the info.
Looking to buy this for my husband (and me) for Christmas. What was the small pump you bought to bring onboard and which oars would you recommend I buy? Thanks so much for your video!
The small pump is called a k pump mini. These are just the nrs 2 piece paddles, but there are lots of good brands like Werner. Look up a size guide for your length and consider you may want something a little bit longer because it is an inflatable
How do you add thigh straps? I just ordered the STAR Raven 2, and thigh straps, and was wondering, for longevity, if its best to add additional d-rings or attach thigh straps to self bailing holes.
You can use the self bailing holes. It is a bit hard to adjust them after inflating the floor all the way though. If you are solo with one seat you could also use the d rings for the seats
Sorry for the late reply. It works great solo! I use it solo probably 80% of the time. I've found if you put a single seat in the front seat position, but backwards it is in a perfect almost centered position.
*UPDATE* Last summer I had a blast on it, tandem as well as solo. I had 30+ days on the river and it still looks new. It is very sturdy, you are able to stand up on the drop stitched floor. I purposely flipped it once while using knee straps in a rapid, it was very hard to flip, even when trying! I also did some overnight trips carrying a 35 liter cooler and gear for 2 people while using it solo with class 3 rapids along the way, and it maneuvered great. When kayaking solo it has done great in rapids as well as flat water. The boat drains fast when taking on lots of water. I have also taken it tandem with my fiancé as well as friends. As long as you can paddle together it works amazing.
Very nice review. I am considering buying one, so that was very useful. Thank you.
can you do an update to this video letting us know how you like the star raven on the water?
Sorry for the late reply! I posted a small review in the comments above. Maybe I will make an update video this summer.
Star was bought by NRS

Thanks. The floor is not removable? Looks like a nice, stable kayak. Have you use it on the sea at all? If so, how did it handle the swell?
No

How well does it work when soloing?

Can you use it for a pack trip?
