When I had locs, I used aloe vera gel to retwist my hair. In that particular case, I also added homemade flax seed gel, a tiny amount of shea butter, a tiny amount of honey, and about a 1/2 teaspoon of pure Vitamin E to it.
Ever since I learned how to make my own aloe vera gel, I haven't purchased the readymade stuff in the stores - which has numerous chemicals added into it and is significantly more costly than making your own from a leaf (which is only around $1).
Aloe is great for the body - both inside and out. It is great to consume for healthy digestion. It is great for the skin, great for the hair, and can also be utilized as an ingredient for making your own toothpaste.
Thank you for this video, Beautiful Queen! ✨👑✨ Much Love to you! ❤❤❤

@@financial-r8n That is so nice of you to suggest. I'm not a content creator, at least not yet. But there are plenty of videos here on UA-cam that are focused on natural hair and locs. One size doesn't fit all. Everything doesn't work for everyone. When I had locs, I tried out different things and went with what worked for me. I would suggest the same for you. Having locs is a journey. I hope that you fully enjoy yours. 🙏

@@financial-r8n Your third set? Wow! How wonderful! I've only had one set so far, and that was for seven years. I learned a lot throughout that process as well as beforehand and afterwards. There are so many things that I would have done differently, knowing what I know today.
One of the key things to remember about the health of your hair is that it is a reflection of your internal health - physical, mental, & spiritual. So to that end, it is critical to eat healthy & stay very well-hydrated, manage & diminish stress, and avoid negative energies whenever possible - always accentuating positive vibrations.
As you might also know by now, the health of the hair is also a reflection of the health of the scalp. So it's important to keep the scalp in good shape by stimulating blood flow through a variety of techniques, gently exfoliating it on a regular basis (not enough to disrupt the hair), and oiling it with a healthy oil that promotes a good quality of scalp health (one that works well for you).
It is always best to take the natural route. As I said, you have to find what specifically works best for you. For example: In my own journey, I learned that I cannot use extra virgin olive oil or black castor oil because both cause my scalp to itch (sometimes terribly), even though great things are said about both. I also learned that oftentimes less is more. It is good to just let the hair & scalp breathe from time to time.
If you'd like a few suggestions for natural hair care, I'd suggest the UA-cam channels of GreenBeauty (which really breaks down the science) and Yannie the Locologist (who exemplifies that "less is more" statement that I made earlier). There are so many channels with so much good information out there. Please explore. It is wonderful that thanks to the Internet we have access to so much knowledge that we didn't have access to decades ago.
Have a wonderful day! Much Respect!
P.S. If you would like some ideas on how to style your locs, please check out my Pinterest page. My page is titled "Bona Fide". You can most easily find it by entering "BonaFide70 on Pinterest" into the Google search engine. My page is an overall medley of beautiful images that emphasize the beautifully positive aspects of the Black Community. Some of my boards are dedicated to locs - both cultivated and freeform.

@@UA-camrsmiley you can add very little amount of coconut oil compared to aloe vera. If possible use unadulterated wood pressed coconut oil. It in fact nourishes the skin. Also make sure skin is cleansed prior to applying this, so that dirt and dead cells don't stop oil from seeping in thereby clogging pores.
