Bought it 2 days ago and I Must say. The Immersion is on the Next Level. Reloading your gun (almost out of Ammo) while making sure your Filter does Not run out (17 secs left) AND almost Running out of light while Screeching creatures try to kill you? Bro!!
Bought the game thinking I was going to get a great realistic action shooter, then came to realize it was all of that on top of being a horror game. The atmosphere is incredible in this game, probably my favorite metro game I’ve ever played. It felt like a Russian Last of Us.
You are the man! 💪 - Thanks for this quick but entertaining overview. I still have to work on securty level 3 in ITR 2, so Metro has to wait... But I'm super curious to dive into this world.
You should definitely try the Metro trilogy too. If you loved this, you'll love those games too. Also I appreciate that Hardcore mode really is tense and difficult, but it's completely doable even on a first playthrough only if you're already experienced with how Metro works. It's so rewarding to get through with that same resourcefulness fromm beating Ranger Hardcore through the whole trilogy
@@ninjabiatch101 it’s super repetitive. You’re doing the same thing over and over and over again. And I played the whole game and enjoyed it, but while I was playing it, I really was like OK. Is it going to end now?
I just worry that so many of the little details that really make the world world so immersive and create that sense of presence in VR won't really be there or have the same effect with the downgrade in the Quest 3 version. And for me it really does make all the difference. I mean, thinking of a game like Batman: Arkham Shadow, it's cool and all, but it's just not even on the same level as many of the great VR games I first enjoyed on my Rift CV1 that actually felt truly magical at the time. Most games on Quest 3 feel like I'm playing some PC title from the '90s on low settings, which in many ways is the exact antithesis to what I want from a properly great and fully immersive VR experience. So, yeah, while the underlying design and mechanics and such might remain mostly the same in the Quest 3 version of this game, I'm just not sure it will actually deliver true VR experience I want at the end of the day. I think so far on RE4 VR and Red Matter 2 have pulled that off on standalone Quest 3 for me. :-o
Apparently the quest 3 standalone version looks absolutely insane still 👀 I'd say it is still worth checking out if you love this kind of supernatural post apocalyptic vibe.
@@conroyyjenkinss Yeah, I'll definitely check it out either way. Can't decide if I want to get a new PC for Christmas first and then maybe get the PC VR version and just play that via my Quest 3.
If you enjoyed RE4 even with the graphics on quest 3, you’ll find Metro on the quest completely amazing. I’m using the optimizer to juice it up though. It’s a great game.
Btw fun fact that intro is already playable in one of Metro Last Lights dlc levels called "Khan" you don't actually play as Khan in it until the very end in a flashback sequence to that very same intro and you even get to see a bit more then what was shown in awakening and trust me what you see past this is sad asf for Khan
@@laartwork the textures could really use a do over.. Compared to HLA it's night and day.. but for the story and gameplay I really enjoyed that as a metro fan.
@@AdeptuS.AnonyMouS no it's not, FPS counters typically measure the raw frame rate of the application, meaning the actual number of frames rendered by the GPU per second. Reprojection, often used in VR to smooth motion by filling in frames based on previous ones, is generally not counted in these raw FPS numbers. There was no way for them to release a VR game at 31 fps, 70 is pretty much the minimum for vr games. And the game support even quest 2, so what ? it runs at 15fps on quest 2 ?
Have you played the actual Metro games by chance? They're fantastic, and Metro Last Light has a DLC where you play as Khan, which is the character you play as in this game, and the events that kick off this VR game are actually in that DLC the dialogue from those NPC's at the start is pretty much 1 to 1 and that DLC is over a decade old, though they were just nameless random NPC's in that DLC, as the DLC was really short and the section you play as khan only lasts like 10 minutes, as in the first half you play as Ulhman, one of the Spartan rangers. I think you'd really like the Metro series if you havent played it already
Damn straight! And holy fck that's insane🤯 I think I got the resolution scale like 75% maxed out on PC and it still looks crazy. Thanks for commenting brotha, cheers, I hope you are well 🖖
I'm now at chapter 10 and I must say at this point some things become a little repetitive. But apart from this, it's a near perfect VR game. For me something like a good 8...9 out of 10.
apparently there is a second backpack which can be used to store additional weapons. I haven't discovered this second bag myself yet but I've seen other creators use it.
you don't really discover it, you just use your left hand to reach over your right shoulder in order to grab it. you also use your right hand over your left shoulder to grab grenades. this is never explained but yea
Honestly, I know how Iconic the shambler is, but in the other Metro games the Ashot is way better imo, dude in Exodus the Ashot one tapped enemies from like 50 ft away!
why you people don't play the original game or at least the last version which is "Metro exodus" but start games like this immediately, when you even don't have background knowledge about this game !
Metro Awakening is a pre quel, and chronogically, the first part in the timeline, and THEN 2033 starts and then Last light and finally Exodus, the big difference is that Exodus plays differently, since 2033 and LL are very linear, and older gen games, and had a shop system too and etc, while Exodus took the freedom and added open world, now leaving the metro there was no need for a shop and currency system, now you had to find everything and upgrade, and the craffing and backpack!
@RickTS but you learn many tricks and info from original game, like you can avoid spiders by you fully charged flashlight, and you shouldn't shot thair back, you should shot the stomach
This fake excitement you have when the $40 game does the most basic things reminds me of new parents hyper excited for everything the baby does. Omg the baby smiled!
It's just an average game, I got bored after 6 hours. Was bored before that tbh, but continued just because id invested so much time so far. A few good moments but alot of stale moments in between.
I hate that those little fckin mutated rats have easy access tunnels all over the map so they can scare tf out of you in the blink of an eye and you'll never see it coming
80% of the game is walking through the same corridors over and over, opening the same red handled doors and charging the generator. Put me to sleep. First 30 mins is ok.
It's truly a great game. I've insanely enjoyed it so far.

I only had one bug that was really aggravating but besides that, a wonderful game and story. This is very very close to HL:Alyx for me.

It's not 31 fps, they use reprojection so it's more than 70 fps. you're the only saying it doesn't run well.
