I was going to buy one of these but I am saving up for an original 1992 5900c to get my favorite quirky feature- the left 'eye' is a tiny analog clock. Also I was born in 92 so it would be interesting to have a watch that's the same age as me
Late to the party, but some details: Original DW5900C came out in 1990 in 2 colors - standard black a gold accented one. There may have been other smaller variants in the following years. Reissue came out late 2018, originally with this and an all black "BB" model. Only difference I know is that the new one has a light, and the bezels are not compatible with the old ones (not sure about bands). Since then there have been another 6 variants of the reissue. I think all 8 reissue models can swap bezels and bands. Lots of other tiny differences in how they function.
I have that exact same model and I have put that bracelet on it. My only issue with the watch is that because the small display is recessed quite deep, often it is obscured by shadow so can be a little hard to see. I love the retro look though and wear it regularly.
The Big Lebowski is my favorite movie of all time and the original version of this watch was worn by John Goodman as his character "Walter" in the movie. Hence, the nickname "the Walter". Obviously once I learned this fact I HAD to have it in my collection... Really great piece and wears a lot better than it's dimensions would imply.
It’s funny that you mentioned the digital display being difficult to see because while I am younger and don’t need glasses despite being far sighted, I find it annoying when the shadow from the plastic dial frame around the digital dial often obscured visibility of the dial.
I love the DW5900 retro style. But I didn’t get one because it only has a 60min stopwatch. And the combi bracelet should fit, as well as the nice GW5000 strap. :)
The tragically funky, forgotten square. Wish this was more popular and received more colours. Let's face it, we're not wearing gshocks for their legibility.
Please show us the timer functions in all your reviews. Whether they have repeat function. Also show the alarms whether it has a Snooze function. They are both important
Good video..This watch has JUST been discontinued by Casio ..I managed to grab one ..I paid full retail ... the First time I have ever done this and I have a mountain of watches.. Mine is in the exact same colours as the one in the video.... This is a future collector's item..FOR SURE.
Sorry for too many comments. Do you , or anybody reading this, know if there is a g-shock whose case and strap are of brown color? Like light chocolate 🍫 (or 💩 poop🤗) color? I just want that color since seems almost no watch maker makes that color except those gimmicky wooden case watches.
Yes there is, checkout the Oak series. They have the brown dessert ish colour. And there's also the basic square digital G Shock with chocolate (as in the poop) colour as well. Will come back with the model names if I remember. But yeah, they exist
I had an original version of this in the 90's (DW-5900C). There were a few differences; the left circle was an "analog" clock display which was cool but almost impossible to read and the right circle was a seconds display with 60 segments that filled up as the minute progressed. And the date wasn't dot matrix like this version, it was the normal 7-segment digits like the time display. The colour scheme was the same aside from "protection" and "g-shock" weren't white, they were orange.
That "Hi-Vis" watch looks awesome on your wrist. You and I have larger wrists, does that wear well? I too am required to wear Hi-Vis at times at work. If that came in orange I would certainly be sporting one.......... Great video, but like you said that display screen is too small. Nearly useless IMO. One of the few times I've been disappointed in Casio. Can't win them all I guess.
No it does not make sense. Upto 5 seconds here, the rest somewhere there. And that is why we absolutely love Casio. I got the blue psychedelic one but display is horrible. This one with positive display seems better.
This was my watch in the early 90's when I was in the military
Thank you for your service.
Just got this watch the other day and haven’t taken it off. Absolutely love everything about it.
Hi, my name is Rob and I like Casio G-Shocks. Sounds like a Casio Anonymous meeting 😂🤣

I am so addicted to the Casio watches..they just dropped the mixtape collection
Don't forget Marcus Burnett played by Martin Lawerence wore The DW5900 In The 1995 Film Bad Boys.
Didn’t know that, thanks
@@RandomRobReviews Ur Welcome.
Love the look and display set out on this one. Thanks for sharing.
It's good to see some Gs on the table again!

I just got a blue duro, and I love it. Their “Tokyo Nights” series is great too.

5500, 6900 and 5700 are my favorite of these g-shocks myself. I just love the look of the 5500, 6900 is iconic, and 5700 has bigger numbers
This is a NASA certified watch as well.
Casio is GOD tier. For real. 😎

Probably not
Great, You made me buy another G-Shock!
I had the 5900 all through high school (1993). It was my first Big Boy watch.
These days eBay has ones with different colors now as of 2021 Jan 21st. One with green background dial is very nice.

You can get these in indian market !
Ooh, Rob’s talking GShock. I click!
🙋🏾♂️ Yes, I'd love to see if a combi would fit this.
Speaking of Combi bracelets, recently got the GW6900 and bought a Combi to put on it. Having a helluva hard time getting it on.
The time LCD screen is too small for me, but another excellent review thanks for posting.
It will never be as popular as the 5600 for a reason, but its still an attractive gshock to me.
5900 👍
Has bigger numbers
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Thats true.....but i now have an Elliot Brown Holton professional watch which far exceeds the G shock range
It's very tempting but pretty big for such a small display. I think the 6900 I got scratches that itch.
MARTIN LAWRENCE- BAD BOYS
I thought your favorite was Seiko.
love that design, but digit seems smaller than dw-5600...
Yeah it’s small, not easy to read

Have not seen one, but there must be something close
Get an adapter and add a brown strap
I love the military sand 6900

Great watch!
Have you seen the gb r100 with the green screen? I may need that.

What's the model of the neon gshock on his left wrist? Thx
sweeeeeeet!

No No No cats. 3-toed dog!!
I'm not into the loud colorful G Shocks. I like the original black or the military green or desert colors.

Just scooped one of these on eBay for $65. Feel like i stole it!
If this was slightly smaller, I would get this
Mark it zero!
Same here :)
I am the walrus
Some one has one listed on Ebay for 16k
No it does not make sense. Upto 5 seconds here, the rest somewhere there. And that is why we absolutely love Casio.
I got the blue psychedelic one but display is horrible. This one with positive display seems better.
5900 aka cat paws
I am sorry, I do not get it. I understand the allure of "some" of the g shocks but this one is ugly, hard to read, and cheap looking.
Ohh noo 🫣 now you’re making me wanna buy this one too… 🤭 I shouldn’t have watched your video
