If you have some time, do yourself a favour and search for the Community read-through they did of this episode during the Pandemic. Pedro Pascal sits in for Walter Goggins. It's good fun!
If you go back to s01e22 -- the episode with the highschool kids that Jeff & Britta were feuding with -- they do the 'Animal House' style freeze frame on each character to let you know what was in their future... For Britta it says "Proud Owner, Used iPod Nano, 2014" Four seasons later (in 2014) they finally paid off that joke by having Pierce bequeath her his Used iPod Nano.
Ya'll remember that episode where Pierce was telling the group about his religion and told Troy you can eat a ghost in their belief? Here we see Troy technically eat the "ghost" of Pierce.
Your birthday gives you a hangover? Weird. Mine just gives me lonely vibes and an ever growing mortality complex. Now the 1.75 of liquor I drink that day, that gives me a mighty hangover.
This episode really showed me what great writing could be. Despite Chevy Chase not being in this show, it absolutely felt like Pierce was in the room the entire episode. It was especially poignant after Season 4 felt like fanfic more than community.
There are three people who are generally considered to be on the top of the list for the asscrack bandit, it could be one, two or even all three, personally I like to think it was all three of them, the first of course is Duncan who was all but outed as the asscrack bandit and I personally think he was the original, the second is Annie who, towards the end of the episode pretty much admitted to it although her motives are a bit obscure and third is abed who was just acting really out of character the entire episode in addition to being one of the few people who could’ve cracked so many people in such a short amount of time, the theory that sounds most plausible is that Duncan was the original asscrack bandit and Annie had been investigating him since season 2, without any evidence maybe she wanted revenge or started admiring his work or something along those lines and became a copycat asscrack bandit, she dragged abed into it by turning it into a tv show for him, abed is also most likely the one that cracked Troy. These are all theories of course and I’ve seen some saying it was britta or the lunch lady but the Duncan/Annie/Abed theory makes the most sense to me and has the most evidence in my opinion
i think most people judge pierce way too harshly. just consider for a moment how terrible his parents were. his father didnt pay attention to him and always considered him a failure and constantly told him that. his mother would verbally assault him for not being a little girl and would make him wear a tiara while assaulting him. also his father was the living embodiment of racism, sexism and homophobia. pierce's racism sexism and homophobia were quite milder than those of his father. and that's progress. those arent things you can just thanos out of existence. pierce grew quite a lot during the show. remember how he loved gilbert even when gilbert is black? if my memory isnt failing me he said "i always wanted to have a brother". and he intentionally forfeited the game so gilbert would be the sole inheritor. someone even half as racist as his father wouldnt have done any of that. in an episode where jeffs "friend" lawyer called jeff gay pierce told him "hey! dont use gay as a derogatory term!" he also helped britta quit smoking, and helped shirley with her public speaking. on many occasions he treated jeff as a son. even hugging him and letting him cry on his shoulder. he even helped abed after a squirrel stole his hot dog.
Shirley had quite a lot of very racist and incredibly judgemental moments as well (some just as bad as some of Pierces comments) but people seem to brush that off for some reason
Dan Harmon left after season three, and season four is considered sub-par compared to the other seasons. One issue was he famously could not get along with Chevy Chase. {Not just a Dan Harmon thing. Many people over the years did not like working with him. Check out the documentaries about "Nothing But Trouble" for the most famous pre-Community example. Many Crew members said they would quit the industry rather than ever work with him again.} I have not definitely heard confirmation, but it is entirely possible one condition Dan Harmon had for returning would be no Chevy Chase on the show. His last appearance is in the Pierce hologram in the first episode of season five. The implication of the center he donated was that he was no longer on campus, because of whatever complaint led to the center.
Any other show, season four would shine. But being "Community", it really reflects the loss of Dan Harmon at the helm and Starburns in the writer's room. Every episode of season four is fun, and makes me laugh. But, just a different vibe from the surrounding seasons.

the attempts at reading the cannister line are priceless
she did react to some early season bloopers, so i wouldn't be surprised if she also reacts to that video
I knew someone would comment this and it is very worth watching

Ima littttttle hungover from my bday yesterday this video is the BEST CURE! “Here’s your sperm” can fix any illness 😂
Your birthday gives you a hangover? Weird. Mine just gives me lonely vibes and an ever growing mortality complex. Now the 1.75 of liquor I drink that day, that gives me a mighty hangover.
The zoom table read was even better. Pedro Pascal trying to get through the sperm scene was the highlight of the pandemic.
“They have to be won in battle!”
They’re called screw-venirs 😂

One of the best episodes of the entire show! Can't wait to see how much you laugh. :)

I think the "casebook" Annie has is actually a scrapbook. She was at least involved.

Off topic, but I'm so jealous you can rock every single hairstyle 🥰😭
You weren’t as excited about this one but was nice watching your reaction. Have a great weekend
Season 4 wasn't really that bad but this episode reminded everybody how great it can be with Harmon at the helm.

Finally some community its been so long
O HAI WELCOME BACK TO COMMUNITY.
(Just feels like it's been more than a minute, ya know? Good to see you. ^_^ )
I love that hair for you!
Great episode!
And also your hair is 😍😊😊
I missed the community reactions :')
Pierce had a good heart all along. He was just too crazy and vengeful for me to notice.
In a church, Britta?! For shame! It's where Jesus gets his mail!
Pierce is my favorite character in S1 & S2 ✌️😎
i think this is where community peaks. I honestly stopped watching Imon's community reactions here.
