  • His Eminence Timotheos Ntumba, a friend of the diocese of Burundi, was enthroned as bishop on the 5th Sunday after Pentecost.
    With the blessing of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, the enthronement ceremony of the first bishop of the Holy Diocese of Goma and Greater Kivu, Bishop Timotheos, took place at St. Nektarios Cathedral in Goma on Sunday, 28/7/2024.
    The service was celebrated with solemnity, splendor, and according to ecclesiastical order.
    The entire ceremony was presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosius of Kinshasa, as a representative of His Beatitude.
    The enthronement ceremony was a three-day celebration for the faithful people of Goma, beginning on Friday, 27/7/2024.

    Joy and happiness, traditional and Christian songs, and dance, followed the Enthronement of the first Bishop of Goma and Greater Kivu, Father Timotheos.

Rejoice, O Unwedded Bride," sung by the people, accompanied by the brass band, and everyone dances traditionally at the Diocese of Goma (for the celebration of the Enthronement of the first Bishop of Goma and Greater Kivu).
    His Grace Bishop Timotheos of Goma was born in Kananga, Congo on 18.11.1972. His parents are: Orthodox priest Theophan Ntumba Nkuna and presbytera Marie Tshala Oshimata.
    He received Orthodox baptism at the age of 13 after being catechized by the late missionary priest Archimandrite Hariton Pnevmatikakis.
    He studied theology in Athens and holds a master's degree in dogmatics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he continues his doctoral studies.
    He taught for 6 years at the "Fos Ethnon" Boys' High School in Kananga and later at the "Saint Athanasius the Athonite" Theological School of the Orthodox University in Kinshasa - Congo.
    He has translated missionary books, university manuals, and many written and spoken sermons from Greek into French and Tsiluba (the local Congolese language).
