I was in the service at the time when this song came out. I remember I was on my first deployment. The service was the worst and darkest time of my life. I will never forget how hard this song hit me when I first heard it. Here we are, September 2023, and I still breakdown and cry like a little boy whenever I hear it. When this song first came out, I was only 13/14 and had no idea how exactly these families would be feeling. I was just a reckless teen and I just loved the tune , the piano part and I interpreted this song my own way. Now I am 32. And watching this video makes me emotional. The most underrated musician ever. I haven't listened to this song in like a decade. My dad bought me this album for my 14th or 15th birthday, he has been gone for almost 6 years now. I dont even remember telling him about Fort Minor but he knew I loved Linkin Park so I think he somehow connected the dots and got it for me. Mike raps, he sings, plays guitar, plays piano, produces, and probably does more than I know. He's a genius. Thanks for everything Mike.
