    I'm a tractor trailer driver for a rental company and haul this stuff everyday. I always run my chain up over that part on the back where the steps are bolted. The chain will run straight across and down through the tie down points and never put any pressure on the steps even in the event of a sudden stop or accident.

    • @BeeBillings
      @BeeBillings 3 роки тому

      some stupid drivers use one chain and go through both loops on one end and tie it down. the problem is that the chain sometimes turns the knob that puts it in emergency mode so you can drag it and it wont drive.

      The back ramps have legs that touch the ground when they are folded down. Helps keep the trailer stable and from bottoming out when you drive on it.

    I purchased the SkyJack 3219.. it's a 2006 model with 290 hrs on it from United Rentals. I have found this lift to be very "herky jerky" as compared to the same size JLG we use at work. " " Reason I bought was to repair/insulate a pole barn with a 16' ceiling. It would be great to be able to adjust this unit to a smoother runner. Steering input takes too much pressure from drive motion and unit comes to a jarring stop, then when steer trigger is released,, unit takes off suddenly. If this is a common trait with the SkyJack,,, then this will be up for sale as soon as I am done with my renovations... anyone have any suggestions?

      We got a new one at work in 2018. I wish they got one years ago as it just makes things so much easier. Either I'd have to drag out the large ladder or have to get the man basket to use with a forklift. So you lie up the forklift and the driver to move me around and up/down.
      It can be jerky. I drive it all the time and so I can control it very well and not have it be so jerky. It is a 3219. I wish it went just a little higher by say 2 feet. We just got a new freezer built last year and it's a little taller than the main warehouse and so if I need to work on the Fan Motors, for example, I'm just a little short. So I'll either need to use a short step ladder on it to get up higher or pull back out the Man Basket once again.

    Thanks a good video. Am considering buying a scissor lift, but had no idea parts and service could be so high. 4K for new tires? I guess these companies got you by the nuts and all the parts are proprietary? I wonder what the hourly rate is when they work on it. Can you get a parts and maintenance manual and do it yourself? Just a thought.

      I'm sure you could. I would consider a genie lift. Little more money but feel like a better built machine.

      WARNING!!! Very LONG!!!
      I have a 2018 SkyJack 3219. Got it NEW at work. I've been having an issue with it moving while up in the air. Figured it out. It' was the Pothole Protection not working right. These are the little wing things that go down on both sides as you go up. Well, one side of mine was working fine, the other was not. I found out that a bushing was sliding out of place that operates it. You can get the Tech Manual online there. I have a copy of it. They also have a bunch of videos on how to do things, and they had one for the issue I'm having and how to take it apart and put it back together again. I thought it was going to be a huge pain in the butt, but it was actually quite easy. So I got the shaft out along with the bracket and sleeve and spring unit out. Took it apart and now see why the Bushing is sliding out. The pushing has a lip where a Spring pin holds it in place. Well, the lip of the bushing broke somehow. $20 for the bushing, and $1 for a new spring pin.
      The Tech manual has parts break down and you can find the part numbers of what you need. There are Electrical diagrams and everything else you would need. You can just order parts directly from them. Call their 800 number. Go to their web site. They have a bunch of videos to show how to take something apart to fix and that was really helpful.
      Ya, I'm doing the work myself of course!!!! Why they went with a Skyjack at work? Maybe a Genie would be better. If I could have test driven them both, I would have. I assume they got a deal on it. I was shocked they actually went and got one, let alone a new one. So I'm not really going to complain. Like everything else, I fix at this food factory, just something new to learn to fix. It would cost us $2k to serve each of our 2 air compressors. I now just order the parts which isn't all that much and do it myself after they showed me. Same with our 2 Steam Generators. They also need to be serviced yearly. It would cost about the same, a couple grand each. The tech showed me how to do it. I watched him do one, and I did the second one a little later which is a little different as it's 20 years older. Had to order up a special puller and installer to use when replacing the check valves which was $800, and get a 1" Allen wrench. Servicing just the 1 paid for its self.
      Of course, that has put even more load on things I need to do as it's really mainly ME!!! I'm always swamped. Been waiting 2 months for my $2k in Air filters for up on the roof. That should get here tomorrow. That's a big job that will be almost all me. I'll get some help getting all those filters onto the roof which is a big job. I still have to Yank an older Industrial Mixing Machine for a new Large Blinder, Nitrogen Cooling machine that I will have to do myself also. Just to get it in the production room means I need to move another machine out of the way and pull down the wall to the outside. Let me tell you, that SUCKS!!! That's going to be an all-day project. Then there's Installation in the Washdown room. Need to hook up an Exhause, Nitrogen, power, 480V 3 please, etc, etc. The machine has its needs and I have to figure out how to supply those needs. Just another Challenge. I need my Scissor Lift working so I can get up to the Ceiling patching old holes and making new holes. It needs to be able to move while I'm up in the air. So my parts should get here next week. It shouldn't take very long to fix it and I'll be ready to go. I do need to rent a large all-terrain Fork left to get the wall down when the time comes.
      I used to be replacing Metal-Hydraid Light bulbs all the time, all over the factory. Which meant dragging out the large ladder t reach the 15-foot ceilings. Or the Man Lift basket for the forklift in the warehouse as those were even higher up. I did that for years and it sucked. We replaced all our lights a couple years ago with LED units. This was before we got our Scissor Lift. I could have really been using it back then. Now not as much as I don't have to replace lights these days as they'll last YEARS. Well did have 1 fail and so I had to replace it. But that's 1 in a couple years. No T8's in the front office anymore either, all LED's. Outside we would have to rent a Boom lift to change all the bulbs once a year. Wither they were burnt out or not. Those also are now all LED's. Have since added a bunch of Solar Power. A couple months ago I installed a couple Car Chargers which are linked together. Had to get a large transformer to power them. Boss got a Tesla Model Y and wanted to charge his car up at work. Anyone at work with an Electric Car can charge up at work for FREE now. If we need more, I can easily enough add another 2 and then another 2 after that. Again, the Scissor lift was a huge PLUS outside of the building where I need to run 1' conduit from the second story down the wall to the chargers. They're painted to blend in with the building. Turned out good.
      Scissor Lifts are huge PLUS when you need them. You can go straight up along a wall. A huge plug for me is being able to get up over the top of a machine. I can get up next to it pointed at it, Lift up over the top, and then extend the cage out and over the machine. Or a few days ago fix a Pallet Storage rack rail that the new forklift driver knocked out one side. Did it to 2 racks, One side rail on the front, and the back, very top rail on the other. I was able to drive up, pointed at the rails, go way up, extend the out with the left so that I could reach in and grab and get locked into the rail once again, and then get all the boards in place. the 6 2x6's in each one. But I have in the past, taken down the bottom front rail and then squeeze the lift in sideways and then be able to go straight up as I remove the 2x6's. You back in just right and turn into the middle. You need good control to not hit things!!! It's a little snug, but works. The things I can now do, saving a ton of time. Time is money and I'm always busy doing pretty much anything you can think of. The worst thing for me is when a Machine breaks down in the middle of production, with thousands of dollars in Product now sitting there. All Eyes are on ME to fix it and get things running again. Now that's pressure. I could be fixing a broken lawn sprinkler to installing a $100K+ Machine. So I have a Large custom Blending machine and a large dumper for it that I'll get in a month. The old machine I have to remove. Another Dumper for Packline 2 which I did myself. A bucket conveyor I'll be removing from that line for a tube-type conveyor. Always older stuff going away and new things coming in. They all have their own needs. Nothing just plugs in. All require the Scissor Lift along with Fork lifts. Mainly just me jumping from one to the other.
      I'm always learning. I'm not exactly easy to replace. A circuit breaker pops and they'd be lost. Only one other person here that knows how to fix anything. We can't take time off at the same time. He used to do what I do now 10 years ago. A lot has changed since then. I know these newer machines much better than he does. I could never be replaced by a ROBOT!!!

    Affordable Overhead Door here. Rental company we normally use is shutting down. Purchased one of their lifts today, also a skyjack 3219. Definitely pros and cons not to mention I have to store it now. We dont use lifts all the time, but for sure ones already on site are preferred. I do feel like this one I just bought is a bit more jerky in forward and reverse. How I found your video I was looking to see if there is any adjustment. Is yours pretty smooth or do you find it to be jerky? Not sure if its in the control or just normal behavior that cant be adjusted. I like the ones with turtle and rabbit mode, I think genie. The 3219, depending on how big your guys are, will struggle at the bottom going up with two guys and a spring haha, but we all know how to make it go.

    I just made a deal to buy a skyjack 3219. It's an older model and I will be paying $2,000. I thought I couldn't lose, but your repair story scares me. I don't want a $2,000 brick that needs $4,000 worth of work! I am just putting it in my aircraft hangar for putting up lights and a heater and some insulation. Hopefully it works for a few months and then I can sell it. Anything to look for on the "test drive"???
