Great story but Christmas was not generally celebrated in Scotland until relatively recent years. Indeed Christmas day was not a public holiday until the 70s. New Year was the big day.
I found it odd Christmas was celebrated in the story and that Santa was also included. I thought Christmas was almost illegal until the late 1950s. Or, at least, totally disapproved of by the Church of Scotland as too frivolous a holiday.
David Ashton is the Actor writer of this terrific series he plays the police inspector McLevy's boss. I believe he is himself a Scot ... we must grant him poet's license this time ... for a fabulous Christmas Soecial ❤❤❤
my only comment is why Aussie Radio have enabled me to listen such wonderful drama.can someone explain please.!!!!!!! should this be the responsibility of a uk provider!!!!!
I think you need to look at your search terms. There are many providers who have frequently uploaded not only the exact same content as Australian Radio, but have also had significantly more content too. However, because UA-cam being what it is results in these people constantly been shut down and so once again we lose hundreds of good quality classic radio shows. A number of providers are back on currently, but I am not going to name them here for fear of losing their content and accounts yet again.
@@deanwal1962 You are perfectly correct in everything you say here. To keep content alive and active is a global endeavour. I would love to have an old archive to share with everyone , and gladly would. I also realise how frustrating it is when a site gets shut down. It can also be difficult to find people after again after a particular favourite site is closed : Plus, you were quite right to keep the "nameless," nameless , as it were too. And for all the right reasons too. Good on ya!
@@mattf5973 Thank you Matt. One place you might want to look is Rumble. Not only do the channels on there seem not to be taken down, they are also not ruined by constant advertisements either. Finally, you can look at the internet archive, however, the issue there is finding the plays you want to hear. Unless you know their names or writer then it is only possible to stumble on them by genre or accident. Whenever I hear an exceptional radio play on here I check the archive and see if it is there. If I find it I favourite it and can re-listen to it whenever I want. I do though need to figure out how to download them from the archive and then upload them to YT in order to help fight the censorship of YT.
Love these . Bed time or lunch time I can listen to them anytime

Sorry my posting not quite right. Christmas Day became a public holiday in 1958 and Boxing Day in 1974
That's interesting. I didn't know that.

I do believe 1958 was when Dec 25th became public holiday ...

Love McLevy stories
Christmas McLevy, a Baldi and a Dixon of Dock Green
Captain O'Hagan was as always a stalwart.
thank you good stuff
Aren't they sweet!🥰
Sorry, that was to something else. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories, it's a shame about the horrible robotic voice in-between.
Love this. But stopped listening. Too many adverts.
The Ads are from UA-cam not me. I dont put ads in any of the programs. Sorry.
Good, but sadly I can't take ads
I dont put ads in my shows. The ads are UA-cams and I know they can be really annoying.
No one has to. Costs $13 to block ads
Why mispronouce McLevy's name in the introduction?
Its an artificial intellegence voice. So why bother to COMPLAIN. I wonder why I bother to load theses shows to put up with whingers😡
It AI audio avatar voice.
👍
🙂
2:12:00 Dixon of D.G.
