I was a bit too eager to start playing and tried to play while downloading. I think that is what caused the loading error around the 25 minutes mark that I came across. Hope you enjoy the video!
its kinda an unspoken rule to wait til its at least green or fully installed before playing xd. Theres a lot of visual crap if you dont and unoptimized stuff too.
@@musicilike69 It's not quite auto loot in the same way as in FF14 where your loot goes into your inventory without requiring any interaction. You still need to click your enemies' corpses in WoW even with auto loot, but then clicking the pop-up that tells you what exactly you're looting is not necessary with that setting.
As someone who has played since 2004 It makes me so happy to see new players discovering the game and experiencing all the things I wish I could experience all over again.
Explanation for the worgen: You are a werewolf. So that is the reason you see two people there. One is your wolf form and one is your human form (same for the evoker)
Technically it's the other way round for Dracthyrs than for Worgen: Worgen are originally humans that gain the wolf form through getting infected with the Worgen curse, whereas for Dracthyr, their dragon form is their native form, and they can turn human through a magical ability called "visage" (just like full dragons can, btw).
Love to see it, and hope you'll come back to it someday. At least finishing the tutorial island or trying out different classes. You were looking for a way to change controlls, which you can find under keybinds along with any other keybind in the game. So movement, but also UI shortcuts, together with search bar to find what you need. The sparring section is supposed to tell you stuff about your class, basic stuff like building rage to spend rage as a warrior, keeping your damage over time effects up, those sorta things. For monk there isn't a lot to know there, since for now it's black out kick when it's there and spam tiger palm
Also the green circle at the top show the game is still downloading. When the game has finished downloading you can upgrade the graphics. You'll see a marked difference.
As a long time WOW player (vanilla/beta), it's really cool to see a new person coming in, and how they navigate the game. Seems the new starting experience is good for newbies.
I have played for almost 12 years now, and wow you brought back memories of all the running around questing on foot! What I like most about this game is that you can play a little or a lot, and there are lots of different ways to have fun either by yourself, or with other people. Loved your video, thanks for sharing your first try at WOW
Monk isn't the easiest class to start with, but good luck. Most new players go hunter or warlock because they have pets that can help in combat, but do what you enjoy. I recommend you read your attack buttons, some have range, some cost energy and some generate a secondary resource. Free trial ends at level 20, its worth going through to 20 to get a taste, current max level is 80.
windwalker monk is pretty easy tho. but the other two specs arent. mistweaver is advanced and brewmaster is the most difficult (and sadly most of the time weakest) tank in the game.
I had to laugh at about 40 it let you stand in the fire without doing anything - usually if you stand in a fire you start to take damage. I see you found the joy of respawns. There are literally decades of quest content in Wow so anyone who enjoys it can do it for a very long time.
Not saying that has anything with you to do, but this is just another piece of evidence that even if you have a big flashing box that says "Do this", new players just refuse to look at it and ignore it for 30 minutes until they finally get annoyed by it. :D
Warlocks get to summon minions, that was the first they get, it's an imp and they get their own name. Had a good chuckle when you confused the minion with a player, I was the same the first time I saw a succubus 😆
Welcome to WoW. If you need anything help, just ask. Very helpful community in there. Some are completely toxic but at the same time most are completely friendly. Once again welcome.
I've played since 2006. I wish you could have seen that era of the game. The graphics, cinematic and features were far less but the old community experience was AWESOME! I'll never forget my first walk through the cities and exploring the map. Where it was smaller, you ran into other players far more frequently. My first toon was a dwarf priest and I can still remember what it was like going through Ironforge, taking the tram to Stormwind--it was like country boy visiting New York City for the first time. That period can never be recaptured and I wish you could have seen it!
I definitely recommend classic for a new player experience; I'm pretty sour on how they handled recent additions to the game. Been great watching through all your content, you've got good heart. Looking forward to watching you have more new experiences
You can set to auto loot all. Take some time to look through the settings to get things just how you want them. Once you leave the island you'll be able to adjust your UI. This game is best played with attacks on keyboard, use your fingers instead of mouse clicking. Then all movement on mouse. You can change it in the keybindings. You'll also want to add more action bars, its all in the settings. I also play FFXIV and can tell you WoW players don't interact as much as FF players do. Dunno why but it's the way it is. The game is fun though and there's a ton to do. Welcome in!
Hope you enjoyed your first (few) hour(s) in WoW. If you want some tips from me: Enable auto loot, it will fill up your bags more quickly but also causes you to loot your quest objects easier if you need to loot stuff for quests. And adjust your screen setup as soon as possible as you can change quite a bit to your liking if you feel like it. P.s. I rarely see Goblin monks haha
The loading bar is downloading the game for you. When the game has finished downloading, you won't see load screens, if you have a SSD rather than an old drive.
One of the problems for new players is the interface. It is so customizable it's sometimes hard to know or use all the settings. It comes with playing and discovery.
@@RedWhiskey000 You aren't wrong, the patience it requires is high. Sometimes its incredibly boring. But the journey of leveling is much more enjoyable/meaningful in my opinion than the watered down retail leveling.
Welcome to the game! I hope you enjoy for however long you decide to play. You've probably been warned about the community, but since you come from XIV you likely already know how to deal with that. I don't know how far you've recorded but after you finish the tutorial things will open up for you. You'll be able to choose any of the expansions to level through (assuming they actually did add Chromie Time for new players). I'd recommend one of the newer expansions to level through like Legion or Battle for Azeroth. For the Horde!
Welcome to the game ! Retail is obviously NOT the best way the game should be discovered. Too many things, too many classes, too many races, too many everything^^ Nothing intuitive at all with all these pre-made intros saying you what to do and when. Retry with Classic and play the real game WoW once was and experience BY YOURSELF the unmatched feeling being a human walking through Elwynn Forrest and entering Stormwind for the first time. Cheers Horde ^^
I've watched a lot of new players start the game recently and he's literally the first one who chose monk and also the first one who didn't go with orc or tauren. Most new players seem choose warrior, closely followed by paladin.
Please, don't play Retail if you're trying WoW for the first time. You should first play Classic Cataclysm. So much easier to understand the game within, Retail is like booting up a Currys Laptop for the first time and trying to fathom what all this bloatware garbo is. Thank me later!
Yes there is an auto loot it's in the menus controls > autoloot. You wont really experience the game with the free first 20 levels the game begins at level 80 and with your friends/guild mates. Most of the content is level 80
I was a bit too eager to start playing and tried to play while downloading. I think that is what caused the loading error around the 25 minutes mark that I came across. Hope you enjoy the video!
Yeah there is auto loot and everything else you are musing on most likely.
A cutscene was meant to trigger there, I'm sad the game didn't let you see it :(

As written in the description(s) he didnt read
Damn bro not everyday you see a new players experience in wow
Very intestesting to watch new player experiencing WoW. Hoping to see more on your journey :)

worgen have two people in the creation because theyre basically werewolves. you create both the beast an the human form
Also the green circle at the top show the game is still downloading. When the game has finished downloading you can upgrade the graphics. You'll see a marked difference.
New subscriber here! You should totally try dipping your toes in the other starting zones for more lore!
Thanks for the support!

It doesn't really matter what he picked for leveling.

Haha I was actually wondering if that was going to hurt me, but seems I just got lucky
Welcome to the game. And also to the Horde! Hope you stick with it.

I wnet with Dwarf monk, drunken monk style :) GG, love the character ! :)
I love watching people get into WoW. =)

I was like, "Wait...there's something missing." Oh yeah, no allied races yet.
Hope you enjoyed your first (few) hour(s) in WoW.

You can also right click on a piece of gear to equip it. You had new chest armor in your backpack. LOL.
To talk to other horde players, click on character and type /whisper and then the message.
What a great expansion to start on too. This is a REALLY good expansion so far.
The loading bar is downloading the game for you. When the game has finished downloading, you won't see load screens, if you have a SSD rather than an old drive.
You can use your muse to move. Just push both buttons around once. R and l buttons
One of the problems for new players is the interface. It is so customizable it's sometimes hard to know or use all the settings. It comes with playing and discovery.
Also in the interface is an "Autoloot" checkbox, which can be helpful, and answers your loot clicking question.
Play the classic version if you find this overwhelming. I play both but I imagine retail would be confusing and overwhelming to a new player.
“Collect 25 wolf paws” 45 minutes later.. why is this fun?
Classic is terrible for new players.
@@RedWhiskey000 You aren't wrong, the patience it requires is high. Sometimes its incredibly boring. But the journey of leveling is much more enjoyable/meaningful in my opinion than the watered down retail leveling.
MMO is the best to play WOW... with the monk it's fantastic.
Also try to max our your graphics, and if you have the horse power, ray tracing lighting is awesome.
raytacing is pointless. as well as maxed ground clutter. just makes looting hard
There are world of warcraft books and some youtube channels dedicated to the books if you want to get the entire back story.
Always read popups especially ones on the lower right of the screen, these are important to your character development.
I would love to play this game with you..i have been playing this wonderful game since 2007
If you want to learn more about WOW, the history and lore, watch The History of World of Warcraft Explained in 1 hour.
I know you haven't gotten to addons yet, but to really enhance the immersion install the addon 'Dialogue UI'
alliance has the best music
Yeah, tutorial mode vastly limits what you're able to do, but i hope you had fun
if u need help or just someone to play with im here since start:)
Usually good idea to turn on tutorials until you learn the gameplay better, quests are marked as ! and when completed becomes a ?.
Welcome to the game! I hope you enjoy for however long you decide to play. You've probably been warned about the community, but since you come from XIV you likely already know how to deal with that.

React more overwatch please!
You should try classic wow
You should grab yourself a buddy, sombody who knows the Game to give you tips.
Ooof.
careful it's a toxic game especially when you deal with people who invested much time and energy into it

Watching this is painful.
It hurts me so much when new players for some reason always choose monk it's literally the worst class look & feel wise and no one plays it
