REACTION! OPETH Deliverance FIRST TIME HEARING
Opeth Reaction
This song is a good start, but now you gotta keep going. This is a DEEP rabbit hole.
Started watching Your channel because of Queen and recently discovered a band Opeth, knew of them about 20 years ago but at that time I was into more heavy stuff or bands from 70-ies and now I like this band and back to Your channel again)))
🔥🔥❤Opeth❤🔥🔥
and they do this live so well... great actually!
I've been a Rush fan from the 70s and listened to them almost everyday until I discovered Opeth, OMG I listen to them daily since 08. They have 6 albums from 98 to 05 they are great.
The, in my opinion, golden era of Opeth with a very classic lineup which featured the "latin" rhytm section with Martin Lopez (today in Soen) on drums and Martin Mendez on bass. And at this time Peter Lindgren was still around on gituar as well. I will suggest "Hessian Peel" of the Watershed album 🙂
There's Oldpeth and Newpeth. This one is from Oldpeth. I like the new songs, but the old ones are phenomenal. There's a lot of old songs that don't have any growls at all, I recommend you this ones!
-Face of Melinda
-Harvest
-In my time of need -Benighted
-Hessian Peel
-Credence
I think the best ones are the ones that combine both clean vocals and growls. If you tolerate the growls,my favorites are:
-Ghost of Perdition
-Bleak
-Harlequin Forest
-The Moor
-Godhead's Lament
-Baying of the hounds
-When
-Demon of the Fall
Give them a try!
Coil/heir apparent from opeths watershed album is a great listen.
.
The full length album that proceeds this ‘Blackwater Park’ is an absolute masterpiece - you gotta do that whole record especially the title track, it’s Epic AF!!!. The drummer Martin Lopez left after the ‘Ghost Reveries’ album and resurfaced with a new band in 2012 called SOEN. If you like Pink Floyd and Tool you’ll dig that band. I absolutely love them - such a great great band.
For me personally Opeth went down hill after Martin left and The post Martin stuff doesn’t hold my attention these days. I saw them on this tour though and it was fantastic!!! 🤘🤘🤘🍻
Latest album of theirs is so goood
One of my favorite bands!!!
Glad you gave it a try and liked it (even with the cookie monster :D)
And yeah I absolutely agree, most Opeth songs need multiple listens. Especially since they build up such a great mood and every instrument does so much you can "discover" (Like with pretty much all good prog bands)
Looking forward to more Opeth on your channel 💞
You look like a bassist friend of mine in Australia. Crazy haha
The ending section of this song is one of my fave instrumental sections of any song
A MASTERPIECE !!!!
That outro though
When opeth get a cool riff, you can’t bet your ass that they will repeat it over and over. Lol. That’s a good thing because they at least mix it up with the music a bit while still keeping the main riff.
I miss this drummer as he left Opeth a while ago and joined a band called Soen. Good band. Very different music as it’s more mainstream while still being left off of major radio. Lol.
This album and damnation were the first two I heard from Opeth. Totally opposite sounds but I prefer damnation more. And going back to earlier albums, Still Life is my favorite. But I prefer their newer stuff with clean vocals only and a different vibe.
Their new stuff is more 70’s prog/psychedelic rock. And the newer drummer is more jazz sounding. Good stuff. The album Pale Communion is incredible.
The beginning is a quote from Rush YYZ riff. Great song, probably opeth best one
I'm loving that you're exploring all these bands I've never heard of before. I'm happy to see down below that they drop the growl after 2011 cuz that's the only off putting part for me otherwise it's a great song

I see what you did there with saying Heasian Peel not having growls 🎉
Best song whose lyrics are from the point of view of the killer in 3 2 1.....
I love progressive rock and I don’t even mind cookie monster as long is it sounds good. One of my favorite bands is trivium, as an example. The music is great and everything’s great and yet somehow, I just can’t get into it for some reason. I can’t really put my finger on it.
Just so you know - Mikael pretty much dropped the growls from the 2011 album Heritage onward. A lot of their better stuff in my opinion is the more recent.
Try checking out something from the last album In Cauda Venenum - maybe Lovelorne Crime or The Garroter. You won’t recognise them as the same band. 😉
Sorry, respectfully disagree. While not some death growl purist i really feel Opeth lost their energy and innovation after 2011. Just became 70s pastiche. Just my 2 pennies worth.
Cauda v is top 3 album for me
Your best bet is to do Porcupine Tree or Dream Theater for your discography
This none starts HEAVY then goes progressive.....
They have so many song that are better than this imo.
I know these guys are very popular, I tried a handful of their tunes, but when the growling, "monster" vocals come on any tune, I just gotta go. It's too "unmusical"?? Or whatever.
But different strokes...ect
either way, enjoy.
They have a ton of songs, both old and new that don’t have growls. Credence, face of Melinda, To bid you farewell, windowpane, harvest, benighted, are some of their older music with complete clean vocals.
Anything song post watershed is 100% clean (along with a few on watershed) Here are some to check out, Burden, coil, moon above sun below, Eternal rains will come, Fleeting glance, Era, Sorceress, Lovelorn Crime, universal truth.
Check out some of those songs, play a min or two of each and pass if it doesn’t catch your flavor, but give them a try. Enjoy
Unmusical? Wtf does that even mean? Jesus people are so annoying
If you don't like the growling, try the Opeth albums from after 2011 (I think) - they dropped it altogether. Soakedbearrd posted some nice suggestions.
@@Zhgarr Thanks
The growl makes me giggle. The band is ok at best and the growl takes them several notches lower. Nice solo though - the only redeeming quality of this band is the guitar playing. Drumming is redictable to the genre and ... was there a bass player? Not for me, kind of like venison. Everyone shouts it's praises, then I eat it.
All of the band are world class musicians lol drummer is a master
