I’m Annasha, a mom, foster mom and president of the non profit org. Shayla’s Voice. After our daughter Shayla, was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2, our mission was to gather as much information as possible, and to seek the best help for our daughter. Shayla is now 9 years old and is growing beautifully.

Hello! Thank you so much for this video!! My son just got his AFOs about a week ago and this video really prepared us for what to expect. I have a question, what sandals is your daughter wearing at the end? I would love some sandals for my son to wear around the house since we have hard floors but it's hard to find ones that fit over the AFOs, Thank you!
Hey Meah, nice to meet you and your son. The sandals we use are just regular sandals from Walmart. I like them because of the velcro. I'll see if I can find them online and share the link. Take care

Hello. My son is about to start wearing his AFO. He is autistic. I hope he doesn’t mind it. He usually wears Nike shoe. This time I got him sketchers 2 sizes up
It may take some time for him to adjust, but he will get used to it
@@ShaylasVoice he is not trying to remove it. He cannot communicate if he is bothered. But is it supposed to be very tight? Like i struggle to put it on.

My son has been suggested to wear these for autism. Do they help? How long do we have to use this. I am really worried
They help us for sure but she is still a toe walker. Also look into botox injections to help with the muscles. There's a group on fb for toe walking, people share alot of their stories. It's very helpful

I know it's worry some but to be honest, he may stop the toe walking. Shayla does both toe walking and flat feet
What exactly did the little girl's condition was? I might guess it wrong, but is her foot set in an equinus deformity?
