When I was playing Grim Fandango Remastered, I thought that you needed to grind every part of the trail before getting to that spot. I feel like an idiot not realizing that and it felt the section was tedious. Then I also experienced a glitch were Manny turns invisible if you use the grinder a lot in that room until you exit it.
to be honest, I kinda just mash right there. Sometimes when I did runs, I would solve it in less than 10 seconds, other times it takes longer. There is probably a more optimal way to do it, but I was generally having a lot of luck just mashing on most attempts.
Jacob Davies This is the original PC version of the game, so there are no trophies, and yes it's just the fastest route. There are a couple guide Plat guides for the Ps4, it's actually a pretty easy plat.
