Two time Suburban LT owner here.
So I have five children and when they were younger I had a 5.3 L V8 suburban and things were pretty good. The problem is they are older now 17, 15, 13, 12, 11, and four of them are the size of a grown adult. That 5.3 L pretty much struggled with the amount of weight that was in the vehicle especially when we went on trips.
We just traded it in over the holidays and got a 6.2 L V8 suburban and I cannot believe how much better of a driving experience It is especially with the weight of being fully loaded.
If you are on the fence of which engine, you should get go with the bigger engine. Once you get that suburban filled with people and luggage, you’re gonna wish you had the bigger engine like I did. I’m glad I have it now but I should’ve bought the 6.2L V8 in the first place.
My 2nd Surburban LT owner here and purchased 23 had almost 1yr with 20,000 miles with 0 issues.
If you do regular maintenance I think longevity will increase greatly. Love my full size chevy.
Tim the center consul moves back, so it’s there should be a button in the ceiling that pushes it back
There is another sliding storage compartment under the main storage area of the center console. You access that by sliding the center console back (which the ladies like as it gives them room to place their purse right next to them and not have to reach to passenger seat or floorboard area…..plus it takes second row controls and drink holders closer to second row passengers).
That is beautiful truck. Best large SUV in the world period.
One thing I noticed after buying my 22 silverado is how clean and nice the button lighting is. Every single button is light up. Now compare that to the Toyota vehicles I’ve had, they do not lit up each button. The window switches for instance are not lit up at all. Makes a difference
Let's see, one thing I don't like about it is the price. Not many people can afford >$1k a month payment, plus $500 a month for gas and $150 for insurance. All of this for a depreciating asset. No thank you.
Tim, what engine would you get in this? The 6.2 or duramax?
I don't see where anybody told you where the switch is to move the center console rearward - it's that small switch, in the overhead panel, just in front of the round one that opens the rear hatch. Also, the tiny storage area with the sliding door next to the emergency flasher switch is for your registration and insurance cards . . that way you won't have to dig through the debris in the glove compartment every six months when it's time to replace the insurance card.
I really liked the old 3/4 ton Suburbans. Great for hauling people, stuff you want to keep dry, camping, and pulling a trailer. These new ones are too expensive and not as useful in my opinion.
Tim, the center console isn’t very deep from the top because the entire console power slides back and there is a hidden drawer underneath. It’s a shame you didn’t show that sliding console feature, it’s really nice and no other brand offers that.
@@06AngusSG I haven’t seen that but the one I looked at did have a fridge inside
Tim, there’s a hidden compartment in the center consul
Would u get the diesel or the 6.2?
The center screen is too small, I also agree that GM seats are not comfortable
If I was buying a large SUV I'd get the 3l diesel, because it would be a travel vehicle. I love my 6.2l in my Refreshed Silverado. I believe I like the dash design better in my Refreshed truck . Looks like they would want to have this all the same due to sourcing parts and assembly .
I love my 3.0l duramax suburban. I just returned 25.5mpg over 475 miles at 77-82mph with my family of four and all our luggage. Very happy.
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the full review.
I'm guessing why the center console is shallow is that it's a sliding console. Look for the button to move it rearward and find the secret pew pew compartment...
Thanks for the vid! I think the designator for a 6.2L is the quad exhaust tips? 5.3 are hidden.
GM probably Saved that option for GMC. Marketing has been doing stupid shit like that for years. I bought a fully loaded 2016 Suburban. At that time they only offered the 5.3 L engine. You needed to buy the GMC variant to get the 6.2 L engine. Just plan stupid.
I was telling Tim &(others) I think the only way to know it’s a 6.2L is the quad exhaust tips. note his question @ 12:13
Not a battery powered vehicle in sight on a beautiful and typical Nebraska afternoon.
will the 2024 Suburban 3.0 Duramax will have the LZ0? If so, little increase for towing?
Why no updated Duramax ?
Thank you for this. I'm going to wait for the 2024. Two questions if you can get any info from your "insiders": (1) Will GM/GMC keep a Diesel option for 2024 for the Suburban and Yukon XL? (2) If so, will they stick with the 3 Liter or bump it up (I'd sure like to see a larger diesel for my towing, much of which is in the mountains of the West)? Great appreciate it. Again, thanks. Cheers,
I have a 2023 RST. Nice truck but I'm disappointed in a number of features. First, no manual. The dealer says, "Just download it." Then what? Ever try to read a 460 page pdf on your phone? Next, cruise control. Adaptive or standard. It is not intuitive at all. In adaptive, I found too much breaking when in traffic and it was really annoying because it floors the gas to get up to speed. Tim's difficulty with the auto high beams is a good example of how to make things difficult by complicating things rather than a simple button. Third, no LED tail lights. WTF, this is 2023. I only have 1400 miles on mine. So far, I really like it but for 73K I should at least get a manual. The dealer offered to print it out but I doubt it would have fit in the glove box.
I’m surprised it has the first generation 3 liter diesel (LM2) and not the second generation diesel LZ0) which has 305 HP with 495 Ftlb torque. Strange.
Oh dang, i had to look it up. I guess the old LM2 is still being fitted to the Chevy, GMC and even Cadillac. I guess it's just using up the last of the allocation. Bet 2024 models transition to the new LZ0.
@@ALMX5DP The 2023 silverado /sierra are being fitted with new diesel and the option is just under 1k as opposed to the older diesel which is almost 3k option. Is that not the case for the Tahoe /Yukon?
@@video4jr1 I think I saw it was a $995 option for the SUVs (at least the Chevy).
No owners manual? On line only?
2:10 weed shake 😂
I don’t like the 4x4 buttons and heated wheel buttons are all hidden on left
How many batteries does it have?
I think it's just the one, dont think it has options like heavy duty trucks for dual batteries or alternators.
Sweet car, but for this kind of money, I could get a nicely equipped 170" wheelbase AWD 3500 Sprinter
Cost per mile makes sense.
Tim check out the GMC Yukon
Much nicer interior
Amazing looking dash. Much better screen integration
Check it out. Makes the Suburban look so cheap
Only the Denali version has the better looking dash. All the trims below have the same as the Chevy. (You may have meant the Denali though, just thought I'd mention it)
V8-10spd transmission👍
You like the complex 10 speed? Thought you were always a proponent for simplicity :P
@@ALMX5DP you are right!👍I was thinking along the lines of a cvt. Bring back the Turbo 400 with a lock up torque converter..lol
Yes! Turn OFF the auto start/stop immediatly!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Less is more
Only 1,400lb payload? That’s your average American family of two non binary adult humans and two elementary aged humans. Maybe enough left over for the family dog. (Is the descriptive word dog still okay?)
The camera glare is horrible. Had to stop watching. I enjoy your other videos tho.

The reason why the center console space is small is because that particular one has the sliding console option. If it didn't come optioned with the sliding console it'd have the standard sized one.
I thought he was going to find the button that slides the top of the center console, when he was looking at the overhead console.
