this tank is a legend!!! there is a reason they were still being used in 1991, almost 50 years after they were built. this thing could go anywhere, climb anything, and with the 105mm gun they could kill anything they came across.
Was driving one of these buggers Jan 65 Catterick Yorks 65/01 intake training Regt Queens own Hussars aged 17yrs 2months 1st Royal Dragoons ( Royals ) Sadly now the Blues & Royals also in Detmold Germany oh for good old days ( except for my drill Sgt Faux )
Dinosaur World: The QOH were still there as the training regiment when I was there in April 1966......I did 2 years with the Royals ("A" Sqdn) until they amalgamated and then I ended up in 3RTR on Chieftains.
We had mk 13 in sweden, i served on them, this is as i can see not a mk 13. The gun mantlet and comanders cupala are not mk 13 but in the rear is the fuel tank wich we had on mk 13.
Very nice tank, but I'm pretty sure that's not a Mk. 13 as the shape of the gun mantle is wrong and the commander has a single hatch instead of a split one. I'd say it's a Mk. 12 if it has the bracket for fitting the IR spotlight, or Mk. 9/2 if it doesn't.
Still one of my favourite tanks of all time, apart from the Israeli Centurions can't understand why the British did not retro fit them with diesel power plants, maybe it was $$$$$$$$$, take care and keep safe.
One of the best tanks ever made!
She certainly was Winchuni22. You know your tanks sir.

They're still being used in 2016!
Where?The Middle East.
Sharp Element Africa
The T90 is lighter than this with actual armour, the thing is very heavy for its armour.
@@panzerofthelake506 do you seriously put centurion and T90 on the same line?
Great tank. Very useful for fire support and bunker busting. Used by Australian Army in Vietnam with effect!
1945 the first cent. still looks good today
Drove one for 3 years (mid 70's)
Bjarne: Me too (late 1960s) before we converted to Chieftains.
And me
Sweet sounding RR engine

Thanks. Could be; British tanks aren't my usual area of study. I was going by the museum's website: tankstogo.com/vuk.htm
my husband says you are right

Does that Meteor engine has a muffler? Because it makes way less sound than other MBTs of the same era and more modern models.
The pattons weren't that noisy
Australian army had centurion tank mk5/1 in Vietnam war
Strong gasoline engine.
Israelis loved it...
Herblay63 still love it*
