Honestly, I wish Anita was the next companion. I know we haven't seen Belinda yet however, Anita has already earned it imo
Surely Belinda for S2, and Anita for S3? Really would be copying the DT companion format there haha
Yes!
Merry Christmas Lads 🎅
(For yesterday for us Kiwis and Ausies)
Hope you both had a good one 🙂
I just wanted to say thanks for all the laughs and content you've "generated" throughout the year.
Here's to the next one 💙💙
Thanks for watching our generated content king 😂💙
funnnnnn . perfectly buzzed enough this christmas evening. A classic moffat classic fun ride and wtf ending
WTF!
The first act is very Voyage of the Damned, the big fancy hotel setting like the ship and the ability to just travel to different times/planets at the rich folks leisure (replace time windows with those braclets that let you travel to earth)
Merry Christmas, I hope you're both having a lovely festive season 🎄❄️
I enJOYed it ✨ But I honestly need one more rewatch to decide how I feel about it 🙈 I think I also expected more and that's partially why the episode felt slightly off (I suppose I was waiting for the finale to have a bigger impact, tho it got me emotionally) - there were some parts I really loved and some that felt slightly unfinished, rushed or even slightly unnecessary. 💗💗 I kind of wish the Doctor bonded with Joy for a year instead so we feel for her even more, even tho I loved Anita's actress (and definitely want her to come back). ^^ And I definitely wish that it won't be last Moffat's episode, mainly because Twice upon a time and Boom were just a lot more impressive imho. 🙈
Edit: I also think that The Doctor, the window and the wardrobe = Joy to the world - and I like that special quite a bit (it's just not as good as some of the others) 🤔
Merry Christmas Mikaela 🌲🎅🎄
@50DoctorPodcast Thank you! 💗🎄✨
The concept of a time hotel was interesting but not done in the right way. It all feels so cheerful and hyper, messy and over sentimental. The sight of Joy flying about like the star of Bethlehem was so stupid that I laughed out loud. This is parody Who. If you like a good laugh then Disney Who is terrific. Great reviews.
My son who's 7 watched this episode, first introduced to doctor who. I was watching alongside him, he at every point knew what was happening. I had no clue what was going on the story was all over the place but once I stopped trying to make sense of it, I started to enjoy it. It became 'fun'. I think that's what my son was viewing as just fun. The hotel act was absolutely wonderful. The ending of Joy was lovely. The rest of it felt like a filler and yes, i agree with the comment on hotel act I could have happily watched a whole episode of that.
LOVED this episode!
Honestly same thoughts. It was okay with some fun and wholesome parts. A 7 out of 10 episode that ever 7 out of 10'd.
Literally just so okay
I found the COVID scene unnecessary. We had to say goodbye to my granddad that way, it really upset my sister and dad and I suppose was kind of retraumatising for them. I think a warning label may have been appreciated.
that's actually a good point, they probably should have put a content warning on it for that
Or you could just grow a thicker skin and get over it. Coddling people with trigger warnings is pathetic.
also mocking people for following the rules
Its getting to the point where someone could breath and the doctor cries and every episode has to lecture you in some way and its not about entertaining people. Its just making doctor who embarrassing to watch
I hope they don't do a dodger who rap battle Christmas special. That would be painful to watch but I did enjoy this episode very, very much. Doctor who joyed to the world only they knew what that really meant and a consequences that were going to happen after the event happened. A moment of time in a moment, at human history.Something really big happened. And that is jesus's birth and that is the biggest hit in history even though small but sometimes small things come in big packages
i think the joy to the worlds thing being about the door each going to a new world (a time on earth), also this was shot before s1 was aired so mille was prob fresh off season 1
I feel like the show needs to stop trying to do multiple concepts in one episode and just stick to one idea and do it well like in this episode either do Dr who stays on earth for a year or Dr who finds around every Christmas in a time hotel. 73 yards either do the political thriller or Welsh folk horror.
They need to do one idea and do it well instead of splitting hairs and fumbling to good ideas at once.
I don't think this episode was bad at all but it was let down by trying to do two good ideas in 50 minutes.
It was too much soap opera, too little sci-fi.
It was a total flop first ever episode of Dr. Who thats put me to sleep i was that bored with it and i hated the ending with the whole jesus thing that was over the top.
Why is doctor who cringe now 😢
Cos I watch it :(
