@@420scene Dude I'm high as fuck watching this trying to figure out everything that went wrong with this grow so I don't have the same problem the second time and this is blowing my fucking mind! 🤯
I just wish I found this channel and started watching these videos a few week back before I popped my seeds and potted them in their forever home, I used tomato plant growbag compost and added fish blood and bone and bonemeal with a bit of seaweed plant food every week and it seems to be working although I use a greenhouse instead of grow lights 😂
I’m in week 4 with 2 blue dream autos from ILGM. Started in solo cups in ocean forest for 2 weeks. Transplanted to 3 gallon fabric pots in more ocean forest and started using the fox farm trio at full strength with molasses, epsom, and myco. Started flowering at 3 weeks. So far they are loving it!! No sign of deficiency and no sign of nute burn!
@@whocares4464 what do you recommend I’m starting my autos outside this week and plan on doing a solo cup with ocean for the first few weeks then after week 2-3 put into 10g pot mixed with Ocean and frog with the fox farms trio any tips in Missouri heat
I mix 50/50 with Black Gold and Ocean Forest with an added 3/4 cup perlite #3, also about tablespoon of Mosquito Bits to control the larva that are most likely in the soil...I Also start every seed in a peat pot and then after a week or two move into a 3 gallon grow bag...The peat pot goes right into the soil with no transfer shock...Works every time...
I went Happy Frog/ Ocean forest/planter mix + perlite this year. I didn't use anything outside of a couple molasses worm casting tea's in veg. This combo works well. I am half way through flower, and I had to raise my greenhouse 18" on stilts to accommodate the girls.
I truly like all the fox farm products. I use the big three “ nutes” later in each period of grow when I feel like available nutrients are used up in my soil unless I’m running straight OF soil, then I won’t use any nutes till flower usually. The more you can set your dirt up so you can just water and go the better off you are!!! Just my opinion.
Yeah man and I actually started out using all of the fox for nutrients because I just thought that’s what you needed but as time went on I just started amending the soil more so I didn’t have to worry about the bottle stuff. And I actually had better results that way as well.
@@KhalilSecurity be careful and use great white. I do solo cup to 1 g them right before flip I do final transplant and then flip to flower on fresh soil
As Oceans is considered Hot my mix was 6 parts Ocean 3 part coco 1 perlite . I also use the FF Nutrient but, i didn't start any until weeks 4-5 following the FF soil schedule. Worked out great only a little discoloration with the leafs. I then added CalMag to the mix and all is beautiful. Currently week 4 of flower.
@@craigshoemaker2492 Cool bro, I’m more or less in the same medium but I add earthworm castings mixed with Gia greens dry amend once a month. I’m 3 weeks in flower, just stripped my plants and I’m thinking of going back to bottle of Massive Bloom GP, but I’m worried I’m going to lockout. Do you water to runoff using bottles at mid flower, or just go light?
Starting my first indoor grow tomorrow, I already bought the ocean forest and advanced nutes line. But I'm going to try this and see what happens. (45/45/10 of, happy frog, perlite) to start. Thank you for this video!
I went with a 30-30-30-10 ... strawberry/ocean/happy/perlite in 5 gallon smart pots . I started LST all 5 autos at the end of week 2 . I’m now at the end of week 3 and everything is looking beautiful ! I’m sure I’ll need to start adding nutes eventually so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the awesome content and happy anniversary !
Obviously your knowledge is what's happening. I'm using Roots all Organic. It's a good .mix. Currently Kush XL and Cream OG in the pots. Week 6 autos. five weeks added no nutes. Last weekadded some nitrogen and calcium. Faint green turned to dark on new growth. Topped and LST. WOW amazing how they are filling the stems up. First time inside and autos. LMC NFSOT. PEACE OUT 😎😎✌✌
Roots organic is pretty good stuff too and it’s a soil brand that a lot of people don’t really mention so it’s really cool to see that you’re using that.
I use the original fox farm soil pre mixed with bat guano and earthworm Castings and coco coir. For seedlings I start in the small cubic containers with 70% soil on the bottom and 30% coir on top. During the initial growth of your seedling it has all the nutrients it needs from the seed it’s growing from. So you don’t have to add any nutrients. By the time the roots start reaching the soil, leaves will have grown out and will start to use the nutrients from the soil.
I mix perlite with happy frog, and sprout in a big styrofoam cup. When there are 3 sets of leaves or so, I’ll use the cup to make a void in the middle of a 3 gallon pot of ocean forest. Then I carefully cut away the styrofoam and slide the seedling into the hole. It works awesome.
Big roots by soil king is amazing. All you need is already in the soil form start to finish. Its totally organic too. Hint add some pk boost halfway into flower and thats it.
I compost add 1/3 Pete Moss 1/3 perlite and a couple hand fulls of crushed oystershell and egg shells and that gets me all the way through veg into flower, then I start adding nutes I’ve used foxfarm trio in the past with pretty good yield I’m trying advanced nutrient this grow and I’m hoping for a better harvest, but the best thing I could recommend is using compost and getting that nice microbial base
I use OF too and I've had great grows with it the only thing I add to OF is with my watering, I make a tea with bone meal, blood meal. and bat guano (no foliage spraying) I will also use molasses in the flower stage. I'm a master gardener and I have found that using a good tea mix can enhance all stages of growth in your plants and you can change your tea mixture to the different cycles of your plant's growth.
That’s great man, I’m glad that it’s been working for you. But usually a master gardener doesn’t have to say that they are a master gardener. Keep practicing your craft man.
I mix happy frog with composted black angus cow manure sourced locally at a 1:1 ratio. I add kelp and fish shit at 4 weeks with first feed. And then I go on a feed water water water feed.. been working great for autoflowers, all I run is autos. And my feeds consist of worm casting mixed with organic chopped banana peels, kelp and fish poop… if I need some more phos or mag I have Hi-Yield organic phos and cal mag. All my waters consist of 1.5 teaspoons of blackstrap to 1 gallon of water
Vermiculite if for retaining water only. And cannabis does not like wet feet so depending on how you water if you get yellowing I'd experiment a pot without vermic
4 gallon cloth pot. ⅓ bottom strawberry fields, ⅓ mid Ocean forest, ⅓top 50/50 Ocean/ happy frog. Plants are loving it.... Only thing I do differently is a 10 gallon cloth pot w/Top half lind with 1 sheet Newspaper.
I use 50/50 Light Warrior/Frog for seedlings, then 50/50 Frog and Ocean for flower. Been working out great. Definitely looking into the strawberry on next run. Always dope homie!👍🏼
old guy again i have made a living out of keeping some sort of plant alive my entire life mostly with man made products but after many years i have learned nothing can compare to mother nature ipm and organics will always outshine in end results no matter what the desired plant is
Thank you broski. Great info for a first time grower. I'm using happy frog and ocean forest mixed and a solo cup of BushDr. Cocoloco in the middle to start my seedlings and so far is 19 days old and looking ok so far. I'm putting half of the the nutrients and is looking ok so far
I just make my own soil, 1/3rd coco, 1/3 drainage (I use pumice + rice hulls), 1/3 compost (I use worm castings and fish emulsions), add in about 1/2 cup of a locally produced slow release organic fertiliser (which you can blend/customise yourself)
It’s funny that you mention that because I made a video a few months back about the banana tea being great especially during the flowering stage. Good comment. Hope you enjoyed the video.
It helps to alleviate hot bags by emptying the bags and mixing it up on a tarp before potting. I use Coco Loco with amazing results with no bottled nutes for the first 3 weeks.
To help rooting for clones, put neodymium around the base of the cutoff, use the square sponges, within a day or 2 the roots will be coming out of the cube. In 2 more days, it will outgrow the cup container (the roots). A strong root system will help the plant take more punishment and/or quick changes in the environment. This only applies to smaller plants, once the plant grows out the EM field, it will slow down. You can use a tomato cage and wrap it with magnets to create on giant emf around the plant. I’ve been experimenting with a copper twisted like a tornado. I run a low current enough to create an emf around the whole plant. This is not easy. You must know how much your plant will take before it frys. Remember to ground it in the dirt the plant is in. I can’t stress this enough, KNOW HOW MUCH CURRENT YOUR PLANT CAN TAKE! The grounding will put excess into the root system so it the current is too high... ☠️. If you decide to go this way, start with .25v without resistance or 0 oms. Go up from there. Be gentle! Don’t lose your babies! Tiger bloom rocks!
Yes I absolutely agree with everything you said. I honestly haven’t really messed around with clones all that much to give an opinion though but thank you.
HP Promix with compost, worm castings, manure, Perlite. I'll add Gaia green amendments, Herb Thrive, Rock Dust Blend and insect Frass. For flowering add some mineralized Phosphate and use Abundant Bloom for top dressing. I'll add Liquid Karma or water soluble sea weed when watering every once in awhile too.
I use ocean Forrest on the bottom half and happy frog on top mixed with some coco and perlite and I use flora flex full tilt line of nutes and it works great for me
I tried using Strawberry fields on my current autoflower grow with no added nutes. I water with plains pH’d RO water with no run off to avoid flushing. I’m on day 67 and so far no deficiencies what so ever and I’m almost ready to harvest. Plain water. Nothing else. But I think if I add that fish bone meal as you suggested, that may help increase the yields a bit. I will try it again with the same auto seeds to see if I see any differences. Thanks for all your videos big dawg.
@@larrylover4153 if you’re asking me, no I did not. But when I watered, it was done slowly to ensure that I soak all the soil and didn’t have any run off to avoid nutrient flushing out. Make sure you use an autoflower that has a 60day lifespan or less.
@@larrylover4153 honestly. I’ve only been growing for about 6 months but been smoking for 20 years. I’ve only tried growing 2 different auto strains. I bought 10 seeds of each strain. 20 seeds total. So I only know those 2 strains. But yo, that Blue Amnesia by Ministry of Cannabis is fcking fire. Tasty and heavy high and it’s a haze which is different for me. But I highly recommend it. Fruity AF!!! I got my seeds on Attitude Seedbank which is overseas and it took 14 days to receive the seeds. THey have lots of seeds to pick from. If you ever get a chance to try those seeds. I highly recommend it. I’m currently doing some DWC. And I wish they had them in photoperiod. I would fck shit up with photoperiod DWC. I will buy those again for sure.
I'm testing out this soil called "sohum", amending it with down to earth vegetable and rose bulb dry nutes with worm casting and mycroze . Seems to work well and pretty simple.
I mixed coco and Ocean forest 50/50 and cut down on recommended nutrients during veg. Now into 3rd week of flower and I have zero problems. Only problem in my growth thus far was due to my heater getting turned and burning on of my plants ( third week after seedling stage). I feel incredibly lucky up till now because I am a complete noob ( first ever grow) and not seeing any bugs or mildew and such. I keep my eye on PH and now that my plants are in bloom I feed nutrients at an increased level. Plants have realy taken off the first 10 days of 12/12 light cycle and they are looking fantastic. But still, with every day that goes by I have my fingers crossed that my luck continues. Other products that was available to me on short notice and budget wise which I use is calmag, organic molasses, Alaska fish fertilizer, worm casting and bat guano. I also added some epsom salt to the mix. My Acapulco Gold is either knock my sox off or it will kill me...Stay tuned!
I use Edna's Best with 1/4 Bu's Blend Compost and added worm castings , alfalfa meal, sea weed, ......I top dress with gypsum, malted barley and oats and dry flowering elements in the last weeks with well water. The plants are so healthy they repel pests and diseases with stupendous harvests in greenhouse and under HID lights....
I made my own compost this spring , I’ve got gsc extreme from ilgm . I took some clones off the best few plants . That compost was mixed with coco coir for 4 clones and the size of the buds on the clones are 2-4x the size of the seed . But the dispersement of the budding on the seeds is much higher and far more . I experimented this time since I haven’t grown in ten years . I trained the main branch and folded it down to help with size in the 5x5 tent . I mix kelp meal bat guano and another veg/fruiting dry mixture And sprinkled some epsom Salt for magnesium I wasn’t getting outta the nutrients . I gotta get my heat dialed or at least don’t grow in a garage in the summer next time and or get a bigger ac unit to cool down the area
Good video! There is so much involved with this topic, its like this video was an introduction. When I first started my own grow, I was using a super soil. A neighbor asked how to grow so I taught him what I knew. He went with Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil and Foxfarm liquid trio soil nutrients. His plants were 4× the size of mine! Pulling a qp from each plant if not more! It wasn't just the nutes, this man researched how and why each thing was needed like you said. Know your plants and their needs and you'll grow like a pro!
@@420scene have you tried mixing Strawberry Fields with Happy Frong or Ocean Forest? Like maybe 50% Strawberry Fields, 20% Ocean Forest and 30% happy frog. I need more soil for upcoming runs, maybe I will try some Strawberry fields this round
I mix 2 bags of 1.5 Cu. of Ocean Forest to 1 bag of Happy Frog. I don't have to start using any nutrients until 35 to 45 days with my photo-period plants. But with Auto's, I have to start using nutrients around day 30, depending on the strain, because they have sucked all usable nutrients out of the soil. If you go much longer than 30 days with auto's, you will start to see deficiencies in the leaves. So, I am happy with Fox Farm Soils. You just need to pay attention to your plants by inspecting them every day and I promise, you will learn to grow top-shelf buds that are second to none.
I’m already growing top shelf flower bro. I did this video a while back. I had some really killer grows under my belt. It’s all about amending your soil, oxygenating your water and your soil for proper aeration, and creating an aerobic environment. That right there is the key to having top shelf flour. Hope you enjoyed the video bro.
Ocean forest is the best stuff I've ever used. Tried to reduce costs and use other products. Keep coming back to ocean forest, it's the best. Not a fan of the fox farm liquid nutrients however, I like the dry slow release Dr earth stuff a lot more.
I cut happy frog with EB Stone Recipe 420 and add some perlite. The ingredients between 420 and Ocean Forest is pretty close. 420 can be as much as $5.00 cheaper per 1.5 cu ft bag. Ocean Forest: Ingredients Composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, Pacific Northwest sea-going fish emulsion, crab meal, shrimp meal, earthworm castings, sandy loam, perlite, bat guano, granite dust, Norwegian kelp, and oyster shell (for pH adjustment). EB Stone Recipe 420: Ingredients Aged Forest Products, Coir, Sphagnum Peat Moss, Pumice, Earthworm Castings, Feather Meal, Seabird Guano, Crab Meal, Fish Bone Meal, Humic Acid from Leonardite, Gypsum, Oystershell Lime (pH adjuster), Dolomite Lime (pH adjuster), Bat Guano, Kelp Meal and Wetting agent (Yucca Schidigera Saponin) enhanced with Mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial soil bacteria. Just throwing this out there. Your opinion?
Thier is some truth here. Back in 2013 ived used fox farm ocean forest soil, never had a issue, as long as u are very careful during flowering how much nutrients u use... and here in 2020 i decided to start growing again, i used ffof soil again, and i did notice i had a small amount of nutrient burn in the very very early stages of life, but it eventually worked its self out and became healthy.., i didnt need to add nutrients until the last week or 2 of veg. .. so mabey the soil is a little hotter, but not by much in my experience.
A lot of people in here with disagree, including myself only because in my experience Ocean Forest has been really hot. But yes I do agree that the soil works itself out after a few weeks but I think it’s a good soil to transplant into but not start off with.
Everything I talk about in all of my videos is pretty much my experience, like it’s not factual and I don’t make it like it’s factual, like black and white. I just go by the experience I’ve had and I like to share it with everyone. Hope you enjoyed the video bro.
I am a newbie and I’m bout to start growing outdoors and indoors can I put my seeds directly in foxfarm or can I add ff to my pot and make a gal size hole and add happy frog so I can start my seeds
I’m on my first grow .. I used 2:1 happy to ocean 50% of 5 gallon pot with about 30% coco on top of that and lightly blended into the coco for the perlite and a bit of nutrients.. hopefully it turns out good . 2 weeks in now 🤞🤞
Hey love your videos. I've learned alot from u. I just wanna say 1 thing. I've used foxfarm ocean forest for years. I plant seeds after germination straight in soil. I've never had a problem they grow vigorous. But the 1 thing I wanna say is I use distilled water for the first mounth. And watch the ppm. I think from my experience is theirs enough nuts for the first mounth so u don't need spring water or reverse osmosis. The soil is providing enough nuits already. Thanks for the video brother. U always have the doppest info
The thing with Fox Farm Ocean Forest, 2014-2018 it was great and the. Idk what they did but it got hot and it’s still hot but not AS hot. I’m running them with Happy Frog and Strawberry Fields.
Yes thats probably the best combo. I think ill try it on my next grow. I'll have some Gelato. Never tried the strain. But I'm going to do your mix. And thank u brother for all the content
I mix both, Ocean Grown and Happy Frog, add worm castings, some alaska fish. they grow and love it. Use organic like Dr Earth to top dress every month. Peace
I switched from the Fox farm nutes to the Humboldt's Secret. Still start off in a solo with happy 🐸. Them mix 🐸 and ocean forest. But the nutes Fox farm is just way to hot for me. Never once had to do a mid flush or even a final flush with Humboldt secret
Just tried happy frog and loving it. Last few bags of OF have not treated me well. Getting yellow leaves and brown spots on lowers and overall kind of pale after a couple weeks. Happy frog produces much more vibrant green and growth. Thanks for the info
I like using tthe Happy Frog, but i also oadd in some of the Gaia Greens dry amendments which help alot too. Gaia Green has a good Living soil as well, ive even mixed it with the happy frog too.
I like happy frog for seedlings in a solo cup then ocean forest in a 1 gallon transplant then transplant again into 3 gallon pot with strawberry fields a week before flower and you will never need to add nutrients
The best explanation I ever heard for a happy relationship is...before you respond to anything your girl says to you ask yourself, "Do I want to be right or Do I want to be happy." I am married forty six years and am here to tell you...happy is better.
I actually don’t believe in that method and maybe it worked out for you but we both admit each other’s faults and not one person is right all the time. Except me. Jk. Haha.
@@420scene I hope it works for you, let me know when you have your 46th...most likely you will need to notify me long distance that would make me 114 ! Keep up the good work, give yourself a raise and thanks for the videos.
We tried almost every soil on the market quite a bit. Pro mix soil has the best results. Fox Farm has poor soil texture the roots don't like it as much. Light warrior from fox farm has pretty good texture but mixing dirt gets old. Especially if you do bigger grows.Pro mix has little nutes in it so you will need add as you water. Mills nutrients are great (start mixing at 40% strength) or I really like the emerald line of nutrients you can mix full strength on that line. Try pro mix with Mills or Emerald you won't regret it.
I just latched onto your site and enjoy it immensely. My question is I've filled up a large trashcan with agriculturally filtered water via a small inline element. I'm assuming now that the water is devoid of any nutrients? I'm PH' ing the water every time and using Ocean Forest 100%. All six breeds have popped in OF and are doing well. Should I continue to use the filtered water after transplanting into five gallon containers of fresh OF as they vege and hit them with the liquid in the flowering stage? Thanks so much.
I am new grower and this year I mixed Fox farm and Miracle-Gro potting mix plus worm casings. Smell strong but seedlings came up 8 out of 12. So far so good.
My first time growing right now using ocean forest and gotta say all the seedling look extremely healthy no burn. I am going to wait a good 40 days for the first feeding. Since you bring this up I feel that'll be safer to let the plants really drain the soil of the original nutrients before adding more.
also my plants are autoflowers so they have a strong resistance to the temperatures compared to photoperiod so maybe they are doing better with the heat then a photoperiod.
A lot of people have issues with it being too hot. I used to use FFOF from 2014-2017 and never had a problem but after I started having issues so I switched over to Happy Frog for seedlings and then transplant to Happy Frog and Strawberry Fields 50/50 ratio. I look at it this way, if my blend works for me and your FFOF blend works for you, we’re both achieving success.
I’m using tomato plant growbag compost with some fish blood and bone and bone meal with a weekly small dose of seaweed food and my plants are growing like mad, it’s a shame I didn’t learn what I was doing before I started but it’s all a learning curve, grows I did in the past I used hydroponics and lights, now I just use compost and greenhouse and keep it organic 😎
So do I mix all 3 soils out the gate? What's the ratio? Also, what organic nutes do you recommend now? (8 months later) Told ya! I'm 3 hour in! Your my new go to guy!
Royal Gold Kings Mix is really nice mixed w OF at 50/50 ratio. let ur plants veg 2 weeks no nutes. then u can go w ur line. start at 25% strength ending at around 60% strength
I definitely want to check it out but I go to my hydroponic shop pretty often and I don’t ever remember seeing royal gold kings mix so the next time I go I’m definitely going to ask about it because it does sound interesting and thank you so much for the comment. Every nugget of knowledge you guys throw is only going to help us all. We all have different theories and we all have our own methods but it’s really cool that we have each other to share the knowledge so we can all help each other out.
Dude u the man u know it's all about the money! Use half of the recommended amount and wacth them grow. Yeild is if your commercial quality is if it's for you an your's. Love your advice spot on dude.
I gave up on all the fancy soils. I just buy the cheap Kellogg stuff that’s basically all wood and tree fibers and wait out for the roots on the peppers to come out from the drainage holes then feed them that hydroponic liquid until they’re ready for outdoor planting.
more demand, so it is fresher, less turnaround at the store, so its hotter, I Open the bags and dump into bins for a few weeks, mixing every few days, was a tip from someones channel to alleviate fungus gnats etc that might have been in the soil. But also takes the edge off the hotness of the mix.
Dude your so right! I just purchased a bag of FFOF first one in three years 😬 Man your right all my seeds are whack won't get past the first leaf's and they're already curling up and stop growing I'll never waist my money on that again. They have changed the mix Big Time 😢
I really do want to try the Black Gold next. A few people here mentioned it in a few other videos. Also, what did you catch in your profile picture? I’m at bass angler myself. 😛
@@420scene i fished bass for a long time that was a salmon too dark to eat by far the meat was already white inside. they're wonderful at the beginning of the run though.and quite a challenge took me a cpl years before i was even consistent at all . wish i knew how to add photos in these comments id show you some much nicer specimens
I just use Pro-mix, cut with 20% compost or earthworm castings or a mixture of both, 20% pearlite, about a cup of DE per 5 gallons of soil (control gnats & provide silica), 1/4 teaspoon Yucca Powder per 5 gallons as a wetting agent, and 2 tablespoons per gallon with Happy Frog All Purpose dry fertilizer-I store this in a large 20 gallon tote, moistened, and allow it to cook for several weeks before planting. I start in 1 gallon pots, then transplant to 7 gallon fabric pots at 3 weeks filled with the cooked soil. I top dress 3 weeks later at 6/7 weeks veg with Happy Frog Tomato & Vegetable at 2 TBS/gallon soil so 14 tbs per 7 gallon pot as my transition fertilizer, then top dress 3 weeks into flower with Happy Frog Fruit & Flower @ 2 TBS/gallon soil. Aside from a weekly root drench with FF Kelp Me Kelp You 1tsp/gal Big Bloom 2 Tbs/gal, Biog Ful-Power 1 Tbs/Gal it's water only - usually, I enjoy spending time in the grow room and like to experiment. Lately I've been using Root's Organic's HP2 & HPK 0-4-3 as flower boost weeks 5-7 of flower, but now I'm intrigued by this alaskan fish fertilizer 0-10-10 I've seen for $7 a quart at the Hardware Store locally
Im a new grower, i been using ocean forrest but i been feeding with liquid nutrient no matter now little a give them they burn or lock out, It made me wanna Quit, but after watching ur videos and learning more Im going to Strawberry fields next grow! And done with liquid nutrients! But Thanks!
I drop beans right in oceam forest with no issues ever. After about 4 weeka i start adding organic ammendments to the soil and water in. Never have any burn or issues
I use ocean forest alone for veg an and transplant into a a mix that is 75% strawberry fields 25% happy frog mix right before flower for photo period plants, for auto's i use straight strawberry fields for every stage, the only thing i use as far as bottle products the only things i use in any of my plants is fox farm big bloom, phish shit and cal-mag and Ive never had a problem with yield or quality in any of my grows but that's just my opinion and to each their own.
I'm only halfway through my first grow and I just switched to flower. I've been using Fox farm nutrients on a feed feed water schedule through veg I am switching to a feed water water water feed schedule only when needed obviously. I have been using a third of the recommended dosages.
I am currently looking to try OF mixed with Black gold at the seedlings stage and then transplant into the strawberry 🍓 fields for 1 plant. The 2nd plant I want to just run strawberry from seedlings all the way through flowering stage, would you recommend that? The 3rd plant I was going to just run OF all the way but now with ur knowledge it doesn’t sound like something I should and I don’t want to waste the seeds I have. I am trying to run at least 3 different ways to try to see what the outcomes will be, after this video I might pick up some happy frog 🐸 but then again I might just use the black gold as the substitute. Also working with photoperiods. Love the videos man keep it up!!!
I went to my local grocery store. And all they had was strawberry fields, and in the past, I've always used ocean forest. I do add blood meal and bone meal. Along with worm castings 10 or 15% paralyzed and wondering if that's gonna give me any kind of problem with the change. My intention is to use it all the way through veg and flour. Just curious what your thoughts are.
Couldn't be more of a perfect time for this, thank you. I'm going with ocean Forest for seedlings in cups, and I'm going to do a 50%ocean, 25%happy, 25% cocoloco in 5gal, and start half fox nutrients after two to four weeks depending. Autoflowers.
I would advise against this. Ocean forest stunted, and killed my seedlings. The soil is known to be too hot for autoflowers specifically (or so I was recently told a few times). It is also way too dense. If you're going to use it you should mix it down with something like perlite.
Brian M. Yeah man it’s way too hot. I agree. Ocean Forest is good if you mix with stuff like Happy Frog. Or just go with Strawberry Fields for the autos. Way way less hot bro. Good comment man.
I've had good luck with Ocean Forest, I start with Clones and put into Solo Cup of Ocean Forest and mix a mild feed of Flora Duo and liquid Kelp to water in and feed. So far no burn or adverse effects, been working well for about 6 or 7 years.
Dairy Doo has a whole line bro from veg to flower to you name it highly recommended I'm running Dairy do flour blend right now with ocean Forest Fox Farm mix
I have also been experimenting with Dairy Doo brand soils, Flower Doo and Vegie Doo and trying to see which one works best. Tried their Compost Tea last year (10Lbs for $10) but sometimes its hard to tell which product is working due to teh variables.
So far I've only used foxfarm Ocean forest soil and various foxfarm liquid nutrients and have good results but thinking about trying out some different products. Specifically for flower looking for something that can help increase the size of my buds
Happy Frog amended with 2 tbspoons of Dr.Earth per gallon of soil and reammend every 28 days with Dr.Earth around day 30 to 35 depending on how the plant looks I will start using Nectar for the remainder of the grow.
I'm on first week of flower and I have no nute burn from FFOF. Started seedlings in it. My first grow so I'm hesitant about fertilizers especially when they don't tell u the ingredients. And why is there no USDA ORGANIC fertilizers? Thanks for the vid.☝❤
Coast of Maine is really good soil but it's a little hot , I'd say start in a lighter soil then transfer to cost of Maine. Then you won't need nutes for awhile.
I’m using a Home Depot soil called natures care organic it’s Nitrogen is 0.15% Phosphate is 0.13% and the K is 0.15 and calcium is 0.03 i also got some sensigrow part A and Part B and some alskan fish fertilizer which NPK value is 5-1-1 is that good enough from seedling to flower if not what else would you recommend without spending a bunch of money this is for a indoor closet grow
I am in the middle of figuring out what living soil I want to mix up. All the different additives is overwhelming. Plus every box goes for damn near 30$. It gets super expensive. I used the full fox farm nutrient line for years and had great results. 3 years ago i had plants randomly showing signs of stress and deficiencies. Something changed, i never found out what it was soni switched to heavy 16. Im buying athena now, but Fox Farm costed me a lot of headaches and money
Im using ocean forest cut 2:1with organic promix with exteme gardening mycos and azos for transplanting and for an occasional boost in microbe activity the azos allows your plant to use atmospheric nitrogen as well as from the soil might be something to try for the happy frog folks.
Yeah he spits out bars. Then he lays the smack down on the facts town.
What soil is best for seedings ?
I’m in week 4 with 2 blue dream autos from ILGM. Started in solo cups in ocean forest for 2 weeks. Transplanted to 3 gallon fabric pots in more ocean forest and started using the fox farm trio at full strength with molasses, epsom, and myco. Started flowering at 3 weeks. So far they are loving it!! No sign of deficiency and no sign of nute burn!
how's it going now?
So how'd it turn out?
Man I ran a bunch of autos and found they eat less than photo plants! Hopefully your plants didn't burn up on you
@@whocares4464 what do you recommend I’m starting my autos outside this week and plan on doing a solo cup with ocean for the first few weeks then after week 2-3 put into 10g pot mixed with Ocean and frog with the fox farms trio any tips in Missouri heat
@@lanehurt1512 hows it going? Did you use any silica, that helps with extreme temperatures and strengths the stem and helps against pest..

As Oceans is considered Hot my mix was 6 parts Ocean 3 part coco 1 perlite . I also use the FF Nutrient but, i didn't start any until weeks 4-5 following the FF soil schedule. Nice man. I love strawberry fields. Good luck on your grow. hit me up sometime on IG, I'd be down to see what you got.
Thanks for all the awesome content and happy anniversary !
did you ever figure out nutes? just curious cus im also using the same soil mix.
LMC NFSOT.
PEACE OUT
😎😎✌✌
Def man, absolutely.
I like a mix of happy frog, steer manure, chicken manure, topsoil and a little extra perlite its a super soil mix that works really well
Big roots by soil king is amazing. All you need is already in the soil form start to finish. Its totally organic too. Hint add some pk boost halfway into flower and thats it.
💯💯💯✌🏻
How hot is it? Good enough for Autos?
I compost add 1/3 Pete Moss 1/3 perlite and a couple hand fulls of crushed oystershell and egg shells and that gets me all the way through veg into flower, then I start adding nutes I’ve used foxfarm trio in the past with pretty good yield I’m trying advanced nutrient this grow and I’m hoping for a better harvest, but the best thing I could recommend is using compost and getting that nice microbial base
Nice bro and good luck with it. I thought that the Fox Farm trio was OK. I liked the down to earth dry amendments more.

I use roots organic. I mix in vermiculite, I understand it's supposed to a be source of silica for your plants
Vermiculite if for retaining water only. And cannabis does not like wet feet so depending on how you water if you get yellowing I'd experiment a pot without vermic
I mix the box store living soil (whatever I get my hands on) and ocean forest. Water only from seed to harvest. Works fine for a personal grow.
That's the way to go. I just started a worm bin. I look forward to no mlm or bottled nutes.

use ocean forest and make a fist size hole fill with light soil for seedling and by the time it takes root it’ll be ok to dip onto hotter soil
I just make my own soil, 1/3rd coco, 1/3 drainage (I use pumice + rice hulls), 1/3 compost (I use worm castings and fish emulsions), add in about 1/2 cup of a locally produced slow release organic fertiliser (which you can blend/customise yourself)
Everyday garden soil with loads of chopped banana skin and a little peat compost. Gave me small sized plants but amazing structure

@@JANDL4EV Heck yeah bro. I’m actually experimenting in the new Banana Kush series with the Happy Frog and Strawberry Fields mixed.

Yeah Light Warrior is good.
U always have the doppest info

The best explanation I ever heard for a happy relationship is...before you respond to anything your girl says to you ask yourself, "Do I want to be right or Do I want to be happy." I am married forty six years and am here to tell you...happy is better.

Ive been married four times. I can tell you what doesn't work.
As long as it works out for you man. 8/12 is decent.
I like the happy frog for veg and half and half strawberry fields and oven forest with heavy worm castings. Well 25/25/50. Is my go to.

Dude u the man u know it's all about the money! Use half of the recommended amount and wacth them grow. Yeild is if your commercial quality is if it's for you an your's. Love your advice spot on dude.
Exactly man. Abso-freakin-lutely.
Well if you use living soil you can use 1/4 the amount...OR NONE AT ALL
I gave up on all the fancy soils. I just buy the cheap Kellogg stuff that’s basically all wood and tree fibers and wait out for the roots on the peppers to come out from the drainage holes then feed them that hydroponic liquid until they’re ready for outdoor planting.
I've been using Moonshine 64 out of Colorado with good results. Really only need additional nutrition during flower 🌹
I use my own mix, starting off with some pro mix, already grown in and amended with cow manure, stonington blend, magnetite, and recharge
more demand, so it is fresher, less turnaround at the store, so its hotter, I Open the bags and dump into bins for a few weeks, mixing every few days, was a tip from someones channel to alleviate fungus gnats etc that might have been in the soil. But also takes the edge off the hotness of the mix.
Dude your so right! I just purchased a bag of FFOF first one in three years 😬 Man your right all my seeds are whack won't get past the first leaf's and they're already curling up and stop growing I'll never waist my money on that again. They have changed the mix Big Time 😢
I used black gold moisture lock with coco. Ot organic . Mixed with a concentrated auto flower supersoil. I'll check brand and let know what was
I really do want to try the Black Gold next.
That’s good. Not everybody he’s going to have issues and that’s great that it works out for you though man.
I use ocean forest alone for veg an and transplant into a a mix that is 75% strawberry fields 25% happy frog mix right before flower for photo period plants, for auto's i use straight strawberry fields for every stage, the only thing i use as far as bottle products the only things i use in any of my plants is fox farm big bloom, phish shit and cal-mag and Ive never had a problem with yield or quality in any of my grows but that's just my opinion and to each their own.
have you ever vegged in a 5 gal and switched it to a 7 gallon with a different soil a week or two before you switch it to flower?
I'm only halfway through my first grow and I just switched to flower. I've been using Fox farm nutrients on a feed feed water schedule through veg I am switching to a feed water water water feed schedule only when needed obviously. I have been using a third of the recommended dosages.
The feed feed water schedule is actually pretty good since you are using a third of the recommended dosages. Let me know how it goes man.
You can also use ground up dried banana peels for the potassium
Yes you can, I’ve also made banana tea.
Happy frog mixed with great white and Nectar of the gods line up works amazing
Or you can replace great white with recharge. And they’re still going to be great and you will save a couple bucks.
Just grow organically with homemade compost and buy happy frog or whatever for your seedlings
This was an old video. I grow organically now. I use DTE or Gaia Green with Pro Mix HP, I do different teas and cover crop.
@@420scene hell yea man I love and and respect that
Couldn't be more of a perfect time for this, thank you.
@@bmar740 I'll try to give an update on a week of two my seedlings look very happy so far
Local store only carries Fox Farm ocean Forest sometimes Happy frog and strawberry fields that's what I use
I mean you can run Ocean Forest but it is pretty hot so if you get a chance, definitely mix it with another soil that isn’t so hot.
@@420scene Yeah I know what you mean I haven't used Nutes.... it's been a month and a half. Plus I use RO water
💯% agree. The soil is as hot as fish grease
Haha werd brother
Sounds great man.
I'm on first week of flower and I have no nute burn from
FFOF. Started seedlings in it.
My first grow so I'm hesitant about fertilizers especially when they don't tell u the ingredients. And why is there no USDA ORGANIC fertilizers? Thanks for the vid.☝❤
I'm currently using compost, ocean forest and perlite , 40-40-20
Love Fox Farm nutes.I dont grow in soil only hydro and aero.20 year user tried many always come back to fox nutes.
You can get a 1/2 LB for $10 or 5 Lb s for $27. No brainer. What would you say is the most important additives like Kelp meal, bone meal, and all of those additives?
I used the full fox farm nutrient line for years and had great results. 3 years ago i had plants randomly showing signs of stress and deficiencies. Something changed, i never found out what it was soni switched to heavy 16. Im buying athena now, but Fox Farm costed me a lot of headaches and money
Im using ocean forest cut 2:1with organic promix with exteme gardening mycos and azos for transplanting and for an occasional boost in microbe activity the azos allows your plant to use atmospheric nitrogen as well as from the soil might be something to try for the happy frog folks. Edit: im growing B 52 from Nirvana. , hindu kush from omega and some gdp x white widow from a local breeder/friend
If I go 50 50 ocean forst and happy frog for veg 5 gal containers....how big of a pot do I need to trans0lant into with strawberry fields if I don't wanna add nutrients
Ima bottled nute Fox farm everything growmee 🧑🏽🌾🧑🏽🌾🧑🏽🌾🧑🏽🌾 ocean Forrest and 🍓 fields only . Honestly your so correct about the nutes and how you should feed . I recommend when use fox farm nutes feed when necessary.. like you say it’s not mandatory for you to follow those charts .. it’s more like you gotta feel what to do and do it.. lol if I said that right 🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a fellow stoner, I was actually able to keep up with what you said so no worries there. 🤣 And absolutely, you can’t just follow the chart.
420 Scene 😂 cool 😎
Florida zone AG 10 soil is called Muk. Not sure if you can buy it from a store but it's the best I have ever used and have tested, OCD a bit. Google it. And if you can get some of it. PLEASE GIVE IT A RUN..
Added strawberry fields to the bottom of my pots with a OF HF mix on top with the planting area HF
2013 found Glass from the bottom of a green beer bottle in a bag of Fox Farm Ocean Forest
