Yeah, so many nice cars were lost! Everything was covered by insurance :)
I remember waking up and seeing the pictures on discord, and then looking outside and seeing a distant smoke plume from Southampton. RIP M3 :(

For me personally (being a HUGE fan of the F80), your color combo was beyond was words can describe! Wonderful, Awesome, Stunning, Beautiful, these are all words but they aren’t „good enough“ to describe your F80.
But, and that’s the important part: In the end it is/was only a car.
Your friend lost his workplace, all of it. Imagine when the fire took some lives, horrific to say the least!
So I‘m glad nobody got hurt, and tbh I hope and pray that they got good coverage when it comes to insurance. And I do hope they will be back on their feet, and that they get a fresh and new start.
And btw, I‘m not from that area, I‘m even not from the UK, but this story hurts…

@@JamesKingstonCars Hi James, I really appreciate your answer 🙏 I drive BMW‘s since 2006 (before I drove VW‘s, the last one was a Golf 3 VR6), first an E36 328i Touring in Boston-green, then an E91 330dA LCI and now a F31 330dA xDrive LCI. My E91 was on the outside black, the interior was also tan, and I loved this interior so much.
I‘m a huge fan of „Green BMW‘s“, may it be Boston-green, Oxford-green or another green color. What I don‘t like are colors like lime-green. I‘m an old man of 44 years of age and I like the „classic green color combo“, for example an E39 M5 in Oxford-green with the brown interior 🤩
Your F80 had a really unique color combo, I would assume that there not more than 20 F80‘s ever built (worldwide!). So I completely understand that your loss is sad, and of course its unnecessary as fuxx, but maybe, just maybe, you‘ll find an adequate replacement for your Beauty.
And, as you also mentioned: It could have been so much worse. A car is replaceable, a life isn’t.
It‘s maybe to early to ask, but do you have plans for a replacement car? Again a F80? I don’t know why, but I love the F80, its such a good looking car, and with a few mods a really FAST good looking car 🥴😉

I had something sort of similar happen. I had a 1997 Porsche 993. I loved that car, but it had an issue with the wiring harness. It was in the shop waiting for the new wiring harness to be sent from Porsche.
The guys at the shop would connect the battery to roll the window down and push the car in and out of the shop everyday. Well, one night they forgot to disconnect the battery. In the middle of the night, the car caught fire. There were loads of other Porsches in the shop. The fire department came. They drug my car out of the shop. The fire was so hot that part of the engine melted. In one day my beautiful car was gone. I will post a pic of it soon. I loved that car. It was the last year of the air-cooled Porsches.

My dad and I owned a z3 roadster 92 model but it was just a shell no paint no nothing we did some work for it and had it about 20 years! We decided to sale it on Facebook marketplace and within 2days homeland security shows up at our shop and says that it’s stolen! We live 30miles from the bmw plant so that’s where it had to come from but we don’t know how it was stolen from the plant! They took it and crushed it and we told them the story of how we got it! Thank goodness we didn’t get it any trouble!

I won't lie James. This depressed me so much. I tend to be very down on myself in various situations and I think to myself 'What if that had been me who took the Beemer into that garage and found out the next morning it had caught fire and destroyed the whole garage, affecting so many people, depsite the cause being unknown?'.
I would think all of this would be my own fault. And I don't know how I could cope if I was ever in your position. Chances are probably never. And that scares me. I wonder what was going through your head as you walked through the wreckage. Despair? Anger? Concern? Frustration? Anxiety?
Plus, I'm not really a Beemer fanatic but still man. It hurts as much you lost it that day. You say it's just a car. Mate, if you're a petrolhead, sometimes cars become real-life mates to you.
I suppose the only saving grace from all of this is nobody was hurt or killed, which is a silver lining.
Haha it's fine! Thinking about what could have happened is what makes it a lot easier to deal with. The owners were so relieved that nobody was hurt even though they'd just lost their entire business. Yeah I loved the car but what can you do! Thanks mate

Huge wasn't it! I've got contacts there but it doesn't seem very simple to just borrow cars from dealerships. At least not yet anyway :) I'm working on getting hold of some press cars though!
