Thank you for sharing your walk through and experiences. Probably a few things have changed in the last 2 years, I guess? We are looking at RVing at A Big Wheel and and seeing some of this beautiful coastline and historic area.
Thanks for watching. Yeah we stayed at Big Wheel. Loved it there. The only thing we didn’t like is the well water. They are not hooked up to city water. Beautiful and well kept. Love that whole area. Have fun and enjoy.
I just moved to St Mary's ga from Bennington Vt and I love it here. Such a gorgeous place to be! I just opened a collectibles store in Kingsland called Tossing Toys and Collectibles! I wanted to bring a collectibles store to the area since they didn't have a store like it!
@@VanngoTravelers thank you so much! It's a big change from the north to the south but it's been worth it! I'm still getting used to the differences but it's such a beautiful place that I think everyone should visit at least once! The trees are beautiful, the water is beautiful it doesn't get much better than this! Plus we are only a couple minutes away from Florida too which is awesome!
Gilman Paper Mill was the main employer of the town for decades before it shut down. The owner Howard Gilman was a big part of the community and supported lots of endeavors here. Also there is no restaurant or hotel on Cumberland. There is a private inn called Greyfield Inn which is incredibly expensive. I've lived here since 1985 and I appreciate it how it hasn't gotten so crowded like other coastal towns have.
Great info. Yeah that would be interesting to have gone to Cumberland but that would have been an all day affair. Staying in that hotel would be super cool tho. Yeah I’ve been going for years and it has still remained a quiet little town. I’m happy about that! That’s for commenting. Always love to hear from one that has actually lived there.
We had businesses in st Mary’s/kingsland a home on cumberland until my husband died 11 years ago. Life estate for his life from eminent domain in 1970s (became national seashore 1972). He was Mr Gilman lawyer. It has grown a LOT, it’s just all spread out.
The reason greyfield inn is so expensive is you have to go by boat. Everything does. They bring you over, 5 star gourmet meals , picnic lunch, bicycles, tours to north end (around 20 miles long), beautiful accommodations. Electric is 50% surcharge and propane, food, gasoline, vehicles everything has to brought over by your boat, ferry, barge etc. they have to employ help and give them living accommodations, etc etc etc.
We’re staying at Crooked River State Park next May and was looking for things to do while there. St Mary’s looks like a nice little town to visit. We won’t be taking the ferry to Cumberland Island either because we also have dogs. Can’t leave them for that long. Thanks for the video.
I live here. Since this video was made there's a few new shops and restaurants that have opened. Also, if you really wanted to go to Cumberland Island there are pet sitter/ boarding options in the area.
Lucky girl! Love it there. Yes will have to do that sometime when we go back. I know the island accepts pets but the boat won’t take you. It’s on the bucket list. ❤️ Thanks!
Hey man!! Hope you guys got back ok!! I enjoyed the conversation. We're getting ready to leave here soon too. It was a nice stay. Thanks for joining the channel.
Great job! I live here and fly my drone here on a regular basis. I have tons of videos on my UA-cam of St. Marys and Kingsland. Thank you so much for sharing your experience here in St. Marys!!!
@@VanngoTravelers I have one I fly with my phone and the other has the headset...I love flying them! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Very nice. I do videos on the Gulf coast of Florida-mainly the panhandle-and I agree even a year later that gas prices can get in the way. Come see us sometimes.
Yeah prices have not changed much. I think at the time is was more of a shock. Feels like the norm now. Still sucks. lol Will definitely be in touch if we are by there again.
Yes those skeeters suck! Looking forward to getting back there. Love it there. We love Cedar Key in Florida as well but now their underwater due to the hurricane. Life ain’t fair.

@cumberlandquiltchic1 I Get it but it still costly. Definitely would be worth it at least once. It’s unique and not cheap to maintain.

Oh yeah. We travel all across the country and there ain’t nothing cheap right now. Gas is killing us!
If you're not a religious person. I really don't care to watch you!
Ok. Have a nice day.
