The 10 brothers all going to the front lines of WW2 and coming back is absolutely mind boggling.
especially considering that about 80% of that army was wiped out! you know the saddest part of us killing fellow humans is that for the most part we don't even know them. many are Fathers back home that will never see their children again. or even worse return with resultant nightmarish injuries. I would not serve if I had children. Most of these conflicts have NOTHING to do with our heritage or lives beyond our family. I refused to serve in Vietnam for this reason we did NOT even declare war on those people so no frikken way I was gonna go over there and KILL THEM! They also did NOT attack our homeland first. That war was simply NOT MY problem so I told recruitment to STUFF IT! They did nothing because too many of us was telling them the same thing.
Unless they had clerical jobs...
1 in 5 Russians didn't survive the war. That's not 1 in 5 soldiers. That's one in five of the total population. 27 million Russians died.. about 18 million of them were non-combatants murdered by the Germans.
The music is wonderful choice for these photos. Makes the images even more heart felt.
We better get and pull our fingers out... so much inspiration to be gained from the determination and ingenuity of yesterday's heros.. I watched this and felt embarrassed by the actions of today's governments and community... we're headed backwards
Thanks for leaving enough time for us to read the caption and study the photos, unlike certain other channels.
exactly. well appreciated. some of these don't even have captions so we're left completely in the dark regarding content. why bother?
Fantastic compilation!! The music is a great compliment to the pictures. Great work;👍

The picture of Tatum O’Neill and Kristy McNichol was from the movie ‘Little Darlings’
And I wondered to myself if either of them acted in anything after that

5:57 this is how kids made money back then, from mowing lawns, shining shoes, newspaper routes and so on. This has been lost due to regulations and laws. Its sad how we've lost that, You can't do certain things now unless you're 18 or older or need a permit to do it, I miss that.
I wouldn't want my 10yo grandson pushing a mower down the street in this day and age.
@@neilpuckett359 That's because you want him to grow up to be your granddaughter.
Yeah. I miss the days of child labour!
@@johnturner4400 lol, yep me too!

0:24 "Do you have something to share with the class?"
Thank you. I greatly enjoyed your very interesting historical photos presented in a mash up time sequence. I would get engaged in one decade in time, only to have you quickly transport me to another.
Emillio Estevez, Rob Lowe, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, and Tom Cruise.

@@dragonoftheeast7572 The Outsiders. 'Two brick Swayze.'

The way women dressed in Syria…and other Middle East countries. Those days are over.
Just a point of interest - the photo of Inside Big Ben wasn't inside Big Ben, which is a bell. It is inside St Stephen's Tower as it was then, and now the Elizabeth Tower.
I was part of the last generation to send those cute Little pieces of paper around💘 we used to send them to our crush too haha.
Born in 91?
@@BeeLZBeeb yess
In 1945, it was Princess Elizabeth.
2:24 The opal glass dial of Big Ben was obviously illuminated with gas light at the time, 🔥 not yet with electric light, 💡 strange if the dating 1920 is correct.
There are still a couple of streets in London that have gas lights!
@@johnturner4400 Preserving old technology is good. In my town there is also a single gas lantern with mantles on the street at the energy supply company. Big Ben in the photo only shows gas burners, without mantles, which is remarkable. I looked again, maybe the burners have mantles after all.
That looks like John Lennon at 0:48 'A moment in Paris, 1958.'
Can anyone help me with rhe background music name?
My dear friend Don Easton was aboard The USS Saidor which was charged with a photographic mission for the A and B bomb tests.
After the test they put out the shark nets and invited the crew to go swimming……
LBJ driving his car thru a lake? I think some of the Kennedys did this too.
What is this music please, anyone ?
Hey all guys....please the title of this soundtrack....it's not whales of the north....someone can help me? Thanks
Yes it is, Under the Rare History logo click on where it says "show more". It tells you right there what the musical piece is and who it's by. Vadim Krakhmal btw.
It is "Instructions For Living A Life" by Savfk
LBJ driving his car thru the lake on his property? Not! That is the Pedernales River that runs through his property.
1:22 That is amart
I'm not here for the thumbnail!😅
Big Ben is a bell.
So a democrat can drive a car into a lake and a woman doesn't die?
Not enough money to lay a ladder against the glass face of Big Ben
The pants they wore in the 40s
The Elvis concert photo, which young woman went on to have a great sex life and which one turned into an old prude living with her cat? Lol
The music is beautiful, but does not sound like Whales Of The North'
It is. Click on where it says "show more" below the video. It tells you the music info and it is "Whales of the North" by Vadim Krakhmal.
@@GODDESS1966 I did, then went to YT and listened to it. It's not the same or even close.
@@exit5620 No kidding? I'm not familiar with this particular piece of music so I'm only going by the info she put in her links. She must be mistaken about the music then. You have a very good ear to have picked up on that.
@@GODDESS1966 Not a good ear, I wanted to put it in my music list so I tried to find the music and it was different. I hope she reads our posts, I still want to know.
It is not Whales of the North, but still, quite fascinating.
Eugene Stoner pointing the rifle at Kalasnikov. Not well thought out that photo.
look at that french dudes's fingers!
Spelling was off on a couple, but, otherwise nice pics.
lewiston was one of them
That weird music just made me gay!
They could take pictures back in 1528?
First yo
At 3:49. Shouldn't have to learn a foreign language in our own country. They should have to learn English instead of us bending over for them.
Okay, so we're just not going to say anything about LBJ driving a car through a lake?
He was driving a Amphicar. They were a car and a boat.
@@terryasheim9038 Why can't someone make a video about that? I'm too lazy to Google it.
