I like using the Mickey D-Link It turns you into constantly teleport-dodging final boss with a finisher that gives you half a minute of invulnerability
D-Links definetely are powerful. But I think the reason that made a good chunk of people believe they were "useless" because they weren't as flashy as Command Styles, weren't as immediately beneficial as shotlocks, and weren't as spammable as busted garbage like Thunder/Fire Surge (for bosses) or Magnet/Thunder/Mine spam (for mobs). It just took people some time to notice yet another busted thing in the huge list of laundry list of busted things in the mess known as BbS as experimenting usually equaled a swift and sudden death on any difficulty above standard.
Not to mention probably the first thing you think of with "using OP stuff in BBS" is spamming Surges on the secret boss, because doing quite literally any other form of attack will get you flattened.
Also they actually got buff in the HD port, due to No EXP now boosting your damage, this was an added feature that wasn't present on the PSP versions (both western release and Final Mix), this is the reason why Peter Pan's finisher is so busted on the HD versions for instance.
I literally beat ventus and aqua’s story without using d-links because I heard they were useless. It took struggling on Terra’s playthrough did I start looking at my options and started leveling up my links. I was baffled with how broken some of them are. 😂 (I played everyone’s story on proud mode btw.)
To me personally it's because most of the Commands you get from D-Links aren't incredibly useful, get outclassed way too quickly due to Command melding or outright get you killed. Outside of some insane finishers, I see basically no reason to use any D-Link outside of Ventus for Haste or Aqua for early Magnera. So spending time to "grind up" most of them just for mediocre Commands or outright trash finishers like Donald's, it's easy to write them off as useless when they're not

TL;DR, for a PSP game Its good af, but in comparison to the main KH games Its average, its way too repetitive with the 3 characters that have their own level, meaning you do not have to grind for one character, but for 3 different ones, also you go to the same places with little difference, Boss fights are a pain and not Fun to replay like in Kh2 and the game can be broken with the right Magic attack set. Especially in the early game they are very helpful since a fully maxed out D-link can give you access to super lategame spells or spells you character wouldnt be able to have normally. They are OP. If you want to know how to level them up look at 6:07. When you kill enemies with a d-link on they will randomly drop a star. Collecting that star will level the D-link up giving it a new passive ability and stronger spells. Each D-link can only level up twice and at max level it will get a new stronger finisher wich will most likely last for 10 secs and since finishers make you invulnerable it will allow you to bypass almost any bullshit move a boss has.

Videos like this pointing out things like this, and me knowing how _insanely_ skilled some people have gotten at these games make No Damage Runs, Level 1 Runs, and so on _much_ more believable to me...
My first playthrough for BBS, I completely ignored d-links. Now that I'm replaying, I'm actually trying them out, and they're soooo useful. Fantastic for just pumping out a bunch of damage.
I can’t believe people thought they were useless. Anything that works in bbs is OP. It doesn’t help that bbs is so short you could finish the game before you even leveled them up. Im doing lv 1 crit now and I got the commands to beat bosses effortlessly way before I got d-links ready. So I stand there and just press triangle on hook or use a dlink ? Bbs is just too short sometimes.
KH seems to have a history with new mechanics or changes to gameplay generally being very overpowered, no matter which game it is magic is consistently overpowered though, in KH 1 it was stop and gravity, in KH2 it was final form and fire or thunder, in CoM on GBA it was Blitz spam, in Dream Drop Distance it was Balloon but the melee damage wasn't bad either, in KH3 it was airstep, summons and the block button, and of course in BBS it was the D-links.
@@laststrike4411 i wish they somehow kept the online features; you could borrow and lend command decks with other players as d-links through the mirage arena

When I get around in doing my planned chronological playthrough of the series, I'm gonna try and learn to use them.
Aqua is such a mom friend that she packed a Cure in her D-Link, in case you need it
Videos like this pointing out things like this, and me knowing how _insanely_ skilled some people have gotten at these games make No Damage Runs, Level 1 Runs, and so on _much_ more believable to me...
2:13 what the cat doin
…
WHEEZE* HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHA 🤣
Love that you included the last part of the Ven vs. Vanitas fight. That IS a D-Link, and it is incredibly broken once you figure it out.
Peter pan's D link is too op 😳😳😳
That poor cat was never the same.
I hardly ever used these, so seeing people decimate bosses with them is a surprise for me
Peter Pan helped you put them in their place!
2:14 THAT POOR CAT
And THIS is why we can't use D-Links in arena. If we could, I would be Swordbill-ing Armor of Eraqus.
in my aqua lvl 1 crit run d links have saved my life multiple times haha
Do people not know you can block Braigs snipes from his POV?
Is it sad that I've never once ever used D-Links because I thought they were useless?
Not really, everyone probably did on their first play through.
Alternative title: Birth by Sleep is fair and balanced
yknow what they say
"a cat is fine too."
Wow, an ancient meme
BBS D-links are broken as hell even the Superbosses are unfair and broken
The Ventus d-link when you’re playing as Terra is amazing. You basically have Ventus’s speed paired with Terra’s strength.
Will use D-Links more in my next playthrough, they're really fun
My first playthrough for BBS, I completely ignored d-links. Now that I'm replaying, I'm actually trying them out, and they're soooo useful. Fantastic for just pumping out a bunch of damage.
The only issue with D-Links were that on the PS3 version it took a minute to load. On the PS4 version it's instant
At least it paused the game unlike Drive Forms.
Aren't D-Links just glorified Summons though?
@@laststrike4411 they're summons for a graphically-intense psp game that still needs all the umd space they can get
@@zaqareemalcolmTrue. I wish they merged command styles and D-links into one concept.
@@laststrike4411 i wish they somehow kept the online features; you could borrow and lend command decks with other players as d-links through the mirage arena
@@zaqareemalcolm That sounds amazing. Imagine if you could do the same thing for Chain of Memories. Easy street right there.
2:34 It's like you tried so hard to make this into a meme. What was the point? Kappa
8:40 has me in tearsssss
I didn't use them my first time through back a few years, but for my Platinum playthroughs, I used them a LOT, especially early game and for grinding (Mickey)
Terra be like "imma do a spin"
In all kingdom hearts games with extra modes like D-links, I just never use them. I know they (sometimes) make fights easier, but I just never felt the need or the urge to use them. As soon as I get them I just forget about them and then realize later “oh I had these?”
On crit, especially on level 1 mode, you kinda need them.
I did not know Peter Pan was op.
Peter was tired of all the dumb squares whacking each other with their blunt keyblades. The lad brought an actual fucking knife to the fight.
2:13
I've heard of 'raping bosses' but this might be taking it a bridge too far.
These are basically a fusion of drive forms and summons.
I've never seen Sweet Seven, that shit looks CLEAN.
It looks pretty simple, too.
Sora was right about friends being power...
See not it's not cheesy it's the truth
2:13 VEN WTF 😅😂😂
Why is it ALWAYS Sonic Blade in every game lmao
Excellent strats though, not enough players try something that doesn't involve ice cream
Peter Pan > Everyone.
I was gonna use him on MF to, but as you may know, it consistently crashes since he pulls out his shield.
@@RegularDude117 it's possible to kill mysterious figure when using swordbill since Stickman Sham did that somehow without crashing
@@gilitovenegas2339 yeah you have to get him to somehow not pull up his shield to block it.
@@RegularDude117I guess when he pulls up the shield the game thinks there's an irresistible force paradox and quits running because it doesn't want to answer the question.
21:20 wtf is that power? He died in 2.1 milliseconds.
