It's wild to see Anna become even more successful. Was a fan of OG Faky and really loved quite a few of their songs. They also often collaborated with another great J-Pop group called FEMM and it was a great time to be a fan of both groups. Memories lol.

It’s great that she has been nominated because her role required a lot of stillness and subtlety which is not typically what gets award nominations. I expect she is going to have a very succseful career and wont be hampered in Hollywood by being asian. Especially in current times when asian roles have increased so much but also because she has a look and beauty that can transcend that barrier. Good luck to her!

i'm so glad they talked about pachinko. she has a minor role in that show, but when people talk about how great apple's tv series are, nobody ever talks about pachinko. such a brilliant show and i'm so happy it's coming back!
I really like the production. I remember the OG version when I was a student at the Naval Academy but as a plebe we couldn't watch TV. So never got around to watching it. For this one, I watched all the behind the scenes stuff interviewing the actors, describing the detail that went into the costume designs, and Japanese customs of that time. I've had a thing for the Samurai armor. I find that era fascinating.
@@jeffescantoit would be very ironic if Karen is cast , Anna Sawai wasn't allowed to be part of the casting of Katana for suicide squad. I think whoever is cast should play Midori. The character hasn't appeared in any adaptation of Shogun.
I kind of wonder if they might go in a Godfather II direction, i.e. have the successor as both sequel and prequel, which could continue the story of Toronaga up to and past Sekigahara, but also go back into the past for some back story which could contain Mariko.
I just watched the first episode of Shogun, so I clicked because of the "being in a J-Pop group" part, and omg. She was in FAKY?! I love their music. And I'm going to finish Shogun soon. I hope she does well in Hollywood, she seems very nice.

I thought she looked 32 before searching on Google. She is beautiful but people should leave the Internet and see how people look in their 30s. Most of the people I know that have been taking care of themselves look almost the same as they were at 22-25 years old, them being now 30-35. I think it is the 40s that bring more physical change.
She used to live there! In an interview she talks about how sad she was to leave and that it was hard for her to start loving Japan after living in the Philippines :)
Awesome to see great Asian actors/actress's appearing in films or shows and then being shown to us Americans so we can appreciate something outside our norm. 😊
