  • Linford Christie, after winning arguably the biggest and most important 100m race of 1994 in Zurich, lets rip on some choice members of the Santa Monica Track Club during the post-race interview with ITV’s Jim Rosenthal.
In summary Leroy Burrell (who had won a coin toss to run in the race but only finished 7th in 10.39 against 10.05 for Christie) and Carl Lewis (who was missing allegedly due to a stomach virus) had both previously accused Christie of faking a hamstring injury a month earlier in order to dodge a couple of meetings they were running in. This was just the latest amongst a host of other comments they had both made ever since Christie had won in Barcelona and Stuttgart, and suffice to say this had not gone down too well with Christie and the other members of Nuff Respect.
