Important point to this interview: rvd said he wasnt pushed because he turned down learning promos from hhh. He didnt say hhh prevented his push or had anytbing at all to do with it. Despite the stories you might hear, in the 2001-2006 time period hhh was a top talent and could maybe talk about his own creative direction, but he was not part of the office. When rvd says he wqsnt pushed, you have to think about who pushes wwe wrestlers, and that is the whole creative staff/office. As for not pushing rvd, they probably took him turning down hhh on advancing his skills as not being a team player and being difficult to work with.

Have to disagree. Triple H since the DX days has had very good promos that just got better as he got older (except in The Authority years when he just drones on because Vince makes mic time take up more TV time🙄) RVD had good promos but few were ever great, part of that was WWE making him have a stereotypical stoner/surfer personality. This is non-biased by the way as RVD is my fav wrestler all-time and I've never been that big of a Triple H fan.
Triple H knows how to make promos. That was much more on the side of "start hanging out with me,and you'll get to places", and RVD just refused it, and worked his own path

If RVD would've been paired with Sabu or Bil Alfonso or even both, he would've been doing great with the promos. Not too long or too much scripted. Just his interactions with Alfonso & Sabu made a great difference. That's why in ECW he had the coolest promos. But RVD was held back, he never had good storylines going into WrestleMania with a high profile wrestler, in a match where he could've stolen the show. They could've put him against any of the greats and he would've adapted. Sad that some of his best matches were against Jerry Lynn in ECW, and in WWE with Eddie Guerrero. I look at some of the greats and they always had big matches, being gimmick matches at Manual, or matches with lots of drama. Like a retirement match. I've seen some ECW matches I never saw before and he was more amazing. However I wasn't surprised. I had seen his match with Bam Bam Bigelow. He's debut of the Van Terminator with Scotty Riggs. RVD would've been a Legend in Japan had he wrestled there more often. His styles was truly one of s kind. Like Alfonso said he had more moves than Michael Jordan. But he could stretch you out like he did with Jerry Lynn. His return against Rhino was some of my favorite ECW moments.
