Your nails are sooo cute !!!! I no longer feel overwhelmed with the dashboard layout, thanks to you being thorough. You’re a great teacher and I appreciate you !!!!
I've just purchased my first Dashboard Planner for 2022 and really wanted to think carefully about how I would use each section before I started writing. Your video was super helpful for thinking through possibilities. Thanks for sharing.
i can't believe i just found this video! i've been using the dashboard layout for a few years and have struggled to make it work for me. I've gotten better at it but your instructions and encouragement in this vid are so inspiring! Thank you for an awesome tutorial. I'm off to find more of your videos! 💗
Thanks Ashley! Your layout was sooooooooo cute!!! Please can you do more of these dashboard layouts? I discovered the HP dashboard layout summer of 2020 b/c I was looking for a work planner. I'm a counselor and college coach and this truly fit the need. @Happy Planner NEVER discontinue the dashboard layout!!!! WE LOVE IT!! Keep the ideas coming.
It’s not intimidating at all. Much less intimidating than vertical. HP if you’re reading please don’t EVER get rid of dashboard. It’s the most functional for those of us that need lines and to see daily organized and clean. We can decorate at a minimum on the right side and fully decorate the left side with the exception of the “to buy” section at the top that I just make a “to do” list. For some of us, the vertical is just too much space to.have to figure out and decorate and it doesn’t structured enough. Dashboard Is the perfect balance.
I have not personally used the dashboard layout, but I am really looking forward to getting one to start of 2022. I do not like the vertical layout at all.
I've been obsessing about the dashboard planner and I have finally taken the plunge and ordered. I think it will be perfect for me because I have a lot of things that aren't planned for a specific day.
I think this video has been helpful so thank you very much . ❤ I used to use a vertical planner and would use the 3 boxes for : work, language learning and exercise. But the design of the vertical boxes forces me to have to write more because of so much space( although it is good for organising) . Also for those who need a 'to do list' , i think dashboard design is better. I realise for those of us who dont want to write too much , a dashboard might be a good option. I'll be trying out for the first time so lets see. Im excited.😅
I've watched this video before, but I didn't have a dashboard layout. This month, though, I was super intimidated by it. I'm trying out different styles for three months, and this month was dashboard. First month I didn't feel like planning because of how little I enjoyed it. After watching your video, I went and used your tips and I have to say, I'm actually excited to use my planner for the rest of the month! Thank you so much!
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! Yes... I am / have been one of those people who struggle with Dashboard layouts. You presented this in the way I needed in order to "figure it out". I'm one of those people that is a disorganized mess without a planner. I started out with a Dashboard back in 2018 and was super frustrated. I switched to the Vertical in 2019 but I only lasted a month with it.. I got tired of drawing in the lines to make it a hourly... (I have a horizontal, but that is strictly my nightly journal.) .So, Thank you for making this video! The light bulb finally switched on!
I never understood the purpose of paper planners since I’ve always used google calendar, I also couldn’t ever figure out how to effectively use the other types of layouts. Now that I have a job I have decided to delve into this style of planner to use in conjunction with my digital calendar because I think it will be the tool that helps me get a handle on my planning and productivity. Much better than todo notes and reminders in my notebook that tend to go missing in the sea of notes
Just received my first Happy Planner today and it has the dashboard layout. This video is just what I needed! I have several sticker books (that I used in my previous planner) and never knew what to do with those flag stickers until now. I’ll probably put them either by my priorities for the day or Fly Lady chore(s) for the day. Your “Think Bigger” page came out great!! What fun ideas! Thank you so much!!
I’m so glad I found this video! I’ve always used a Big HP Horizontal, but wanted a change and more options for creativity. I also really like the Monthly layout, but again, creativity! I tried the Vertical for a couple weeks and ended up not planning for a month. Was not for me! I like lists. So for me the Dashboard is like a cross between a Monthly and Horizontal. I love it but I’m still getting used to it. All your different ideas are helpful and inspiring! Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much for the tips and a breakdown how to use the dashboard layout for 2022 I will be switching from Vertical to Dashboard for my catch all. And I just could not figure out how to decorate it but like you explained break the sections down on what you will use it then it will be easier to decorate it
So cute I just picked up my first happy planner classic and I’m going back to michaels to get more stickers so I can decorate my first weekly dashboard spread!!
This week hobby lobby has happy planners for 40% off including stickers and other accessories. This happens every other week. They are 30% off at Michael’s and Joanns. Perfect week to get a few 💜🦋
Hi Ashley, I just came across your channel and watched a few of your videos, which are exactly what my brain has been looking for. The tips in this video have answered so many of my questions... I just wanted to say "Thank you!" Have a great day!
Hi, I just found your channel and glad I did. I LOOOOVE the Dashboard layout as a catch all. The left side is always a thorn in my side with decorating. Thanks for the ideas.
I bought the dasboard layout for classes I am starting this fall. Where can I find your videos of the dashboard layout you used in nursing school? I guess I just need some ideas on where to start with mine?
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and process! I found it immensely helpful! I switched to a dashboard planner for 2021 and I thought I had made a mistake changing. Thanks to this video the dashboard layout has been demystified. You are a resource that can help me. You have a great delivery of your ideas and an adorable spread. Thank you!!
Cara you're the best!! Thank you so so much and I'm glad my video's are helping! You'll get into a groove with the dashboard planner-it may take some time but keep trying! If you ever need help, reach out! :)
I am so glad that I came across your channel. I am fairly new to the planning world and have decided to go with the HP Classic. I’m taking all of these tips in. New subscriber here! 😊
Before I finish the video I wanted to share if you haven't begun doing so -that I began tracking my migraines. Granted I have chronic migraines it's more to tie them with both my pmdd and PMS to hopefully be more prepared if I notice more mornings, afternoon or evening, and days into my pmdd symptoms as they begin the day after ovulating. Fun fun. I get my 3rd day in my period to the fee days prior to ovulation to feel my happy self provided my depression and anxiety is behaving lol I have a wellness planner for all this. Sorry for rambling this video was very helpful for me. Thank you. 💟
Ohh man migraines suck and I feel ya on all of this! Mine are caused by tension knots in my neck, shoulders and down my spine (created from stress-apparently my body doesn't like stress lol). But, I've noticed if I get a headache from other reasons (for example, not eating early enough in the day), it turns into a migraine. I love that you track yours and know a lot about what triggers them! Thank you so much for the tips! Do you write down what you were doing before they happen?
I use the dashboard for social media too. I have a video from when is started using it last summer where I share how I use it and my mock-up. I do less decor than you do for mine. And I sometimes move stuff around to keep it interesting but it’s the best layout for function I think. Works so well for some much. I don’t preplan. I do have events - like a dr appt, work meetings or a Michaels zoom on my phone calendar bc that’s linked to work so I can see when I’m blocked for those types of things. But I don’t find preplanning is useful to me. I decorate some but am not sticker heavy. And then I put in my set appts on their day and then to-dos get added on where they fit or where they need to go. I don’t write it out separately or anything. Just put it down on my calendar at the weekend prior to prep for the week. I don’t mind if there’s not a lot of stickers or theres white space. But I also do most to-dos as a list not date specific so I can pick when I have time.
Thanks for watching Kim! Same for me-the Dashboard really fits my style! This is the “New Day” planner but unfortunately it’s sold out. It was apart of the summer release last year
Thank you for this video!!! I’ve been using the dashboard layout for 2 years as a home planner...but this year I change it to wellness and It was giving me a lot problems before your video!!! Thanks again
Ohh using it as a wellness planner is a great idea! I am having a bunch of ideas on how that could work and now I’m wanting to try it for wellness! Lol I’m glad the video was helpful! Thanks for watching! 😊
Ohh that's awesome! You could have a section for like weekly things (wash sheets, clean out fridge, etc.) and then use the right side for what you're cleaning each day...or... you could use the empty box on the right page (beside Monday) for the rooms you're cleaning each day and then for the days of the week, write in the details of what you need to do in each room! You could also have a decluttering section if that's something you're needing! Oh and if you have kiddos, you could keep a section for their chores! Once I read that you're using it for cleaning I had a bunch of ideas pop up lol Hope they help! :)
@@AshleyAnderson I like the idea of using the day of the week for the rooms I’m cleaning. I was going to use it for the weekly menu. On the left I list tasks to be done daily. And any other misc things that come up. Thanks for the inspiration. 💕
Thanks So much for taking the time to record this video! Your explanation of your rationale for your specific process was very clear & helpful for me! 🌟 **(⛔️⚠️tldr warning⚠️⛔️)** I absolutely LOVE the dashboard layout! I’m a visual person & I’ve learned that if I don’t see something or have an active alarm set with specific noted reminders, I’ll absolutely forget, (or I’ll remember way too late)! I also love the dashboard layout b/c I like to see a snapshot of everything vs individual daily planning, (again, b/c if I don’t see it, I’ll forget). 💜 I love your use of the flags that auto-trigger the task in your mind, (for you: video work), I find great value in using this approach as well, though my dilemma lay in how to use this approach to cover all areas in my life, (ie-work, school, bills, self-care), as It always becomes cluttered & overwhelming, so I don’t even continue using it. I’ve used a vertical layout whereby I separated each of the 3 daily sections, (work/school/personal), but this just doesn’t feel complete to me, and leaves me anxious that I’m not seeing the entire week & might miss something… Though I know everyone is different, though I’m desperately seeking suggestions or feedback from anyone who can identify feeling best having a visual snapshot of the week while also having enough room to color code different important aspects of life without the layout being overwhelming & lost amongst a sea of stickers, to do lists & scribble! ☺️☺️ TIA!
This was a great video! I also use a dashboard layout for social media and I love how you went step by step on how to organize and basically make this layout work for me!
I was sooo waiting for this! Taking some great tipps from this video, thank you 🤗❤ I am so in love with the dashboard layout for my catch all planner .... I wonder why I didn't use it before 😅 But now I am hooked and will never use another layout for my catch all
I don't remember the name of it but it was released in 2020 and it's been sold out for a long time. I'm hoping they'll bring back more dashboards that are neutral!
This is a very good video, I tried this layout as my catch-all. But I just was not happy with it and went back to vertical. However, I love it as my social media and considering changing it to my makeup business too. This is a good video to get someone over the worry of using the layout.
OMG!!! You are a god send!!! I’m new to planners and dashboard is what I got cause I just was like Oohh Mickey Mouse I get this one, then it’s like dashboard layout. And it’s intimidating, but you explained everything well! Now for the currently page. New subbie here and thank you so much!
Hey there! This video was super helpful with the dashboard layout, I love using it for work, but I become overwhelmed with decorating it. Also, what type of case is your planner in? Is that a HP case or something else? Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for your How To on the dashboard layout. I chose this same one and and found myself just sitting a staring at it with no ideas. Do you by chance have a link to a pre plan sheet like what you are talking about here?
I'm so glad it was helpful Debi! Here's the link to all 3 sizes: Classic Preplanning: bit.ly/2KQefJo Big Preplanning: bit.ly/2X3E6jd Mini Preplanning: bit.ly/3pKLOv7
Here’s what I would do Wanda... on the left side in the first section of checklists, I would put a general to-do list (not day specific items) and then the day specific items on the days on the right page. For the meal plan... if your planning dinners only, you could write those one the days on the right or in that empty box on the right that has M, T, W, etc. But if you’re doing a full meal plan (breakfasts, lunches, etc.), I would use the bottom section on the left side-the section that isn’t split in two. Chores could go on the left page in the second set of checklists. For habits- the best thing that has worked for me was getting a printable from Etsy so I didn’t have to rewrite them each day or week but you could always use one of the sections in the center of the left page. I hope that gives you some ideas! You can always DM me on Instagram if you need some more help! 😊😊
I wish so much that Happy Planner would create color themed sticker books for Dashboard layouts. I love the dashboard layout and I won’t switch to vertical. This sticker set could include stickers that are the size of the center boxes on the left page so we could create decor quickly. It could also include empty small boxes and washi size strips that are 7” long. You could use a 1/4” washi strip to cover the middle section on the left and then place the small stickers on the strip. I feel like we dashboard users have to work harder with stickers that are created for vertical planners and I’m tired of doing this. 2022 will be my third year to use the dashboard style and I am hoping for dashboard sticker books. 🙏🏼😃
I want To use mine as a journal:::: decorative and lists of things that I wanted to get done that week, use the meals list at top for gratitude or happy moments each day and then a quick journal entry each day as well ... is there anyone that dies this that I could follow for inspo?
You can use highlighters to make sections, colorful yardstick & glue to make boxes/shapes, markers, draw....the options truly are endless! Let your creative juices guide you on how you decorate!
I don’t have any info to put up there and I like how when I decorate it, it brings a little balance to both sides since there is usually more decor on the left side 🙃🙃
There are loads of Etsy shops selling either pre printed or digital dashboard pages in totally neutral styles, almost identical to the New Day style. You could try those out!
Thanks this helps me! This just give me a idea what to get in 2023!
You're very welcome!
Your nails are sooo cute !!!! I no longer feel overwhelmed with the dashboard layout, thanks to you being thorough. You’re a great teacher and I appreciate you !!!!

I absolutely LOVE the dashboard layout!
I’ve used a vertical layout whereby I separated each of the 3 daily sections, (work/school/personal), but this just doesn’t feel complete to me, and leaves me anxious that I’m not seeing the entire week & might miss something…
Though I know everyone is different, though I’m desperately seeking suggestions or feedback from anyone who can identify feeling best having a visual snapshot of the week while also having enough room to color code different important aspects of life without the layout being overwhelming & lost amongst a sea of stickers, to do lists & scribble! ☺️☺️

I was sooo waiting for this! Taking some great tipps from this video, thank you 🤗❤ I am so in love with the dashboard layout for my catch all planner .... I wonder why I didn't use it before 😅 But now I am hooked and will never use another layout for my catch all
I’m hooked on it too! Lol 😆 I’m with ya- I think I could stick with this layout forever as my social media planner!
I’m glad the video was helpful! 🙌🏼
So helpful! Thank you so much 🙂
Thanks for watching! :)
Great video. Thanks for sharing your tips and ideas.
Thanks for watching!!
Which dashboard planner are you showing here? Love how neutral it is. Thanks!
I don't remember the name of it but it was released in 2020 and it's been sold out for a long time. I'm hoping they'll bring back more dashboards that are neutral!
@@AshleyAnderson me too! Thank you!
Would you suggest a mini or a classic for a student? I’m a mom too; but I really don’t normally have a ton to wright down
If you're not writing down a lot of things, a mini would work but if you want to combine school + home stuff, I would go with a classic. :)
Hey there! This video was super helpful with the dashboard layout, I love using it for work, but I become overwhelmed with decorating it. Also, what type of case is your planner in? Is that a HP case or something else? Thanks!!!
Thank you 4 ur video!
Welcome! Thanks for watching! :)
Loved ideas thank u.. using dashboard and I subscribed because of it
Thank you for watching and subscribing! I appreciate it!!
New Subbie here. I thoroughly enjoyed your style. I use my DB in my budget planner.
Thanks for subbing! :) And thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for your How To on the dashboard layout. I chose this same one and and found myself just sitting a staring at it with no ideas. Do you by chance have a link to a pre plan sheet like what you are talking about here?
I'm so glad it was helpful Debi! Here's the link to all 3 sizes: Classic Preplanning: bit.ly/2KQefJo

Great ideas 💡 I need help... in my bashboard I want to do list, meal plan, habits, and chores...please help
The planner I got has a notes section, a do to list and each day of week. What to I track in each of these sections.
I personally love the dashboard layout but I had no idea there was so much you could do with it. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! There are so many options! :)
I want
To use mine as a journal:::: decorative and lists of things that I wanted to get done that week, use the meals list at top for gratitude or happy moments each day and then a quick journal entry each day as well ... is there anyone that dies this that I could follow for inspo?
Hop on instagram and look up the hashtags around bullet journals...that might give you inspo :)
Would you ever consider being a mentor for a person who is wanting to start UA-cam and use it for planner ideas and stuff?
I've thought about it but it wouldn't be something I could do currently. :( But yes, I have thought about it!
Great video. You've got a new sub in me.
😁👍
Thank you so much Tiffany! :)
How can you decorate without stickers?
You can use highlighters to make sections, colorful yardstick & glue to make boxes/shapes, markers, draw....the options truly are endless! Let your creative juices guide you on how you decorate!
This video was incredibly helpful! I appreciated all your tips. (Gentle reminder: Proper grammar is vital for your professionalism.)
Glad it was helpful!
You don't seem to ever use the upper left corner of the right page. Why is that?
I don’t have any info to put up there and I like how when I decorate it, it brings a little balance to both sides since there is usually more decor on the left side 🙃🙃
Where or what planner did you find the plain dashboard
"New Day" (sold out on HappyPlanner website :-()
It’s called New Day but unfortunately it’s sold out 😭 I’m hoping HP brings back another neutral one this year!
Makes me sad too! 😢
There are loads of Etsy shops selling either pre printed or digital dashboard pages in totally neutral styles, almost identical to the New Day style. You could try those out!
