    Personally, the GoPro seems to have a more cinematic look, and the Ace Pro would be a better choice for a wide variety of motovlogs. I think the GoPro looks cleaner, and the Hyperview is a very nice feature for motorcycle riding. At night, the Ace Pro stands out for visibility, but it doesn't have that refined, clean GoPro look.

    • @TheForeigner68
      @TheForeigner68 6 місяців тому +1

      Regardless of what people might say about GoPro not innovating, it has 12 generations of evolution behind it. It's more refined as opposed to only having shiny new gimmicky stuff.

    • @JayJankulovski
      @JayJankulovski  6 місяців тому +6

      Yes absolutely, Ace Pro’s ease of use to get a useable shot at all times throughout the night no matter the lighting situation is crazy. But on the other hand if you want actual smooth, cinematic footage the GoPro is more refined looking with its 12 generations of this model. With some firmware updates I think the Ace Pro will quickly make up for this stuff and the second gen of the Ace Pro will be insane.

    • @kickedoutonthestreets
      @kickedoutonthestreets 5 місяців тому

      Would love to see the raw file performance. Will a bigger sensor on the Ace Pro produce a better cinematic look because of higher dynamic range?

    • @kickedoutonthestreets
      @kickedoutonthestreets 5 місяців тому

      Oh if you export the video in 24 fps you can set 1/48 shutter speed which takes more light in. Might help at night.

    Ace Pro Pure Video seems like the best for anyone looking to just start, less to worry about but still very good quality. But fr made the choice harder watching this. I have the Hero 10 and I want to upgrade... The video results tell me I need both. Ace for night, GoPro for day...

    • @JayJankulovski
      @JayJankulovski  6 місяців тому +3

      This is true, hoping they bring back manual settings in Pure video mode. That would be perfect. But yes it’s a tricky one for that reason, the GoPro clearly has 12 generations behind the image quality and vibe of the shots but the Ace Pro being it’s first generation is crazy and I think some firmware updates with improve it alot over time.

    Thanks for the side by side comparison and the effort u put into this!
    No doubt the Ace Pro preforms better in low light I mean u can actually see things. But honestly I prefer the color reproduction on the GoPro, I like the road looking dark instead of being touched up through the Pure Video mode.
    7:59 for instance the GoPro just looks way nicer to me.
    Interestingly when u turn of the Pure Video mode off the AcePro seems to be slightly darker 10:13 or 12:02.
    And then when we move ahead to the day light performance the GoPro just looks better and cripier, to me at least. GoPro footage doesn't seem as flat as the AcePro footage.
    If Insta 360 can improve their image quality to make it u know to give it that hmph, it's gonna be a killer camera. Depending on the kind of footage u wan't u can opt to turn Pure Video on or off at night and have best of both worlds.

    • @eggarowls6167
      @eggarowls6167 3 місяці тому

      Pure video is meant for low light performance specifically... if you want it to look like the gopro at night just shoot in regular video. But i agree without ND filters on the acepro the gopro looks smoother during the day.

  • @SurgePow

    In my opinion, the GoPro has a more "natural" cinematic view. Although some shots are completely dark on the GoPro, I feel like that gives the more "realistic" view. Ace Pro does excel in showing greater depth in perception in low light, but it feels too saturated with light that makes "Night Riding" look muted or bland.
    Question though, were all these footages captured RAW/Log?

    Somewhat helpful, thanks. Though I ride at day, not at night, so of limited use this comparison, BUT for your daylight portion /comparison of your video. I venture most ride through the day anyway, yes?
    Done with the sub-par GoPro camera hardware. Or I was just unlucky in getting 3 different GoPro Hero versions as lemons over the years. The random stop-filming, a hardware / software bug, who the F@ck really knows; it appears over various Hero versions for me, but they're more interested in rather releasing a new GoPro Hero #50 in Pink colours, then fixing this reporting issue, also from various vloggers over the years, just ..... ruins your riding day too many times for me.
    Reminds me of my SENA helmet Bluetooth communication devices I had; It wasn't even remotely water-resistant over 3 different models. 2 conked out due to LIGHT rain. One of them works now intermittently. Tossed it in a dark cabinet corner. Forever. The third, who knows. Just refused to work suddenly a few month outside warranty. Dead as a Dodo. I switched over to CARDO EDGE about 2 years ago -- had one of the first EDGE units coming into the African continent, according to the local Rep/Importer, hot out of the baking ovens of CARDO -- and had none of the hardware & voice issues of the previous SENA's. Works a peach over dusty African plains and rains since. Just works !
    Will now never go back to SENA again. CARDO (their topline EDGE product anyway) is just superior engineering. Plain and simple. (Been riding -- and trying -- bike gadgets for more than 32 years)
    So yeah, there is the RELIABLITY issue over time..... GoPro HERO's, in my experiences over the years, frustratingly failed for me on this issue.

    Hi, I recently discovered your channel, I recently bought the insta360 ace pro and I would like to start doing some motovlogging, thanks to all the functions, are those lenses really necessary for the lens? Because they really cost a lot and after doing some tests even against the light it didn't seem like the camera would perform badly without lenses... However, as regards the microphone, in my country the price difference between the 3 recommended by you in your Ace Pro package is practically nothing, which one should I take? If it's the Rode, does it need the anti-wind device or is it fine as is? if so where do I get it? Thank you very much and sorry for the very long message, have a nice day :)

    I think Ace Pro's night footage is actually too bright at times making it un-natural. Much like the day time footage. If auto settings are your thing and you shoot a lot at night, it clearly beats GoPro out of the water.
    Otherwise, GoPro wins, more natural colours, realistic lighting and wait until you start playing with the GoPro labs firmware 😍

    • @JayJankulovski
      @JayJankulovski  6 місяців тому +1

      Yep I agree with this. If Ace Pro didn’t take away manual settings in the firmware update in Pure Video in your able to set the max iso so it doesn’t get too bright. It’s perfect. So I’m hoping they can bring that back. (I had some sample footage throughout the video of what this setting used to look like, not sure if you saw it) 🤝

    3/4 of the video was shot at night and maybe 10% was shot during the day The reason being is that the 360 does better at night so you highlighted that throughout the video but the GoPro hero 12 is better in the daytime but we couldn't tell because you only gave us 4 minutes of that video

    • @JayJankulovski
      @JayJankulovski  5 місяців тому

      The point was to show the difference mainly in night time, I originally wasn’t going to do day time but I did. I stated clearly in the video that the GoPro does have better quality when it’s fed a good amount of light (day time). Ace Pro is better in every other way including functionality, interface, reliability etc. GoPro has years of producing the best image quality but has done nothing to the actual camera it self :)

Best mounting system, controllable gain adjustment, same 1/1.3 sensor as the Ace pro, 15 min quick charging, The front screen is touch screen, the menu system is also faster to boot and shut down than gopro, you can directly download to your phone unlike the gopro app you have to download to their app first then download agian. It’s the same as any other action camera or camera in general. Just take the SD card out and import your footage then use it in any editing software raw. It’s not like the X3 360 footage that you have to reframe. It’s like normal gopro footage :)

I am interested in getting the Ace pro for some comparisons, but every video I’ve seen comparing these two cameras just sticks the GoPro into fully auto settings, not understanding how to set it up for good low light or night mode. • @Driftuner

    I have an ace pro aswell and i believe they removed the manual settings on pure video because they at the same time expanded the manual setting on normal video with a low light stabilization mode, which was prior only available on pure video mode. That to me translates to "pure video is a night-time-only set it it and forget it" kinda mode, and the normal video mode became your do-it-all manual mode for everything manual related, since you can now switch on the low light mode while remaining on normal video mode. Hope that makes sense 😅
