The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous government public medical colleges of higher education. These institutes have been declared by an Act of Parliament as Institutes of National Importance. AIIMS New Delhi, the fore-runner institute, was established in 1956. Since then, 22 more institutes were announced. As of January 2020, fifteen institutes are operating and eight more are expected to become operational until 2025. Proposals were made for six more AIIMS. AIIMS in India was established under the Act of Parliament, 1956. The functions and objectives of the institute were defined in this act, thus giving it an autonomous status. Later in 2003, the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) planted the seeds for expansion of the most esteemed medical institution in India and gave birth to another fourteen AIIMS campuses.AIIMS Delhi has been seated at the top position in the NIRF Ranking for a long time now and others are expected to join the league of top medical colleges of India in the future. AIIMS in India are not only the dream college for the medical aspirants of the country but are also known for the medical treatment facilities among all. Out of the fourteen campuses, the best are AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Bhubaneshwar.

We are still anticipating an AIIMS to be constructed at Agartala, Tripura. It’s a must needed hospital at our state considering and enormous potential for Local as well as International patients from Bangladesh , Burma and other northeastern states. In northeast after Guwahati, Assam the second most important city is Agartala but even after 75 yrs of independence also the state has been ignored by centre and state governments in building up of a super multi-speciality in this state. The overall health and medical facilities are still not upto the mark and needs a complete revamping and overhaul of the medical services to the people of the state . We are still hoping for the golden era.
After 2016 Modi has focused a lot on NE development. Now that most of NE is getting connected by all-weather roads and railway there will be all round development. I agree that NE has been ignored for decades. I am sure that things are falling into place with peace accords and removal of AFSPA. If security is good everything can be improved.
In vijaypur (jammu)...the construction of AIIMS started in 2019...and now 80% is already completed...we are expecting it might complete next year....n the best thing is The AIIMS is just 2 min far from my home.
AIIMS cannot fulfill demand of patients....only AIIMS cannot take responsibility unless district Hospital don't have minimal infrastructure....focus on district level and village level...50% patients won't move to AIIMS n burden will be less

Every states shd have at least one AIIMS. No of IITes /Medical collages/ Management institutes shd be increased . Reaserch institution must be developed in India like foreign countries.

Eventually we will need very strong PHC, SHCs. AIIMS like centers are competitors for Pvt Hospitals. Since 1983 hospitals were left to Pvt sector. No major hospitals had come up in Govt sector. If a similar video is made on Medical colleges (both govt and Pvt) it would be great. In 2013 India had 404 medical colleges. Now there are 606. It is easier to build hospital buildings but we need more doctors. It takes 10 years to make a competent mid level doctor. 5 year course, house surgeonship and 2 years in hospitals. Then 2 years MD/MS.
There is no such need.
In past,India was a poor nation and people were living in rural areas.
Not today,Infrastructure can help connect Phc to major hospital within 30 minutes in many cases.
Strengthening Phc will destroy India's money,also of the doctor who will be doing job there as no educated girl will be ready to marry him because of living in rural backward areas.
Liberandu progressive mentality thinking will destroy valuable money of India and Indian brilliant student forvever.

If they need something which needs them to go to a city they get on a train. That's how we should develop. Dont restrict evertying to cities. Bring development to villages. Bring healthcare, quality of life and jobs to villages. Everyone has a role to play. If industries reach villages or small towns, they will provide jobs there.

According to medical councils around world ,there should be 1 doctor in every 1000 people .If we follow it then 1AIMS will produce 100 doctors for 1lakh people only. Our population is around 1.5 billion then we will need 15 thousand AIMS for the country
