I know that many players dislike the casino style of Tess Rogue but tbh it's the only deck which keeps me interested in standard hearthstone. Every game is different and I had the best games against other thief rogues. Sometimes you literally hit the jackpot, sometimes it gives you only lemons. But if that happens, just make the best juice out of them. I love Tess and I couldn't be more happier, that Kibler highlights her these days.
i play the gifted version of it, since i came back after a huge break and you get one deck for free. to me 60% of the games feel like "you either get lucky with your casino in order to have tons of tempo instead of value and thus are able to kill them before denathrius.. OR: denathrius happens".. i love tess rogue, but to be honest, i feel like the deck has a top end on how much you can get better at manouvering it since a lot of RNG is involved :D
Yes, agreed. But since I play the the gifted version too, we miss a lot of good cards that ensure this « casino » effect at this maximum
@Arnaud Tms I'm playing since 2015 and have all the cards. Don't know how it feels to play the gifted version :( if you have some spare dust, maybe craft the deck. I think it would be worth it, I don't believe they will nerf the deck in the near future.

Denathrius into Solid Alibi. The difference between a good player and a great player.
I don't get it. He would've won at 4 life instead of at 8 life. I don't think it really did anything.

I get it now, and it was smart of Kibler to do that in case the opponent pied first since Mordresh would have bypassed the Kodo activation and killed him, but the opponent still didn't ping first, which in turn made Kibler's play pointless.

I really like this rogue deck - but i can't choose between no sunwell or yes sunwell, how did you make that decision?
If you want to have fun, add Sunwell.
If you wanna actually win games, don't include it.

I have decent success with Sunwell. It won me several games which seemed already lost. Go for it, try it out 😀 if you face a lot of Bless or Naga Priests in legend I would maybe cut Sunwell because you can't rely on the casino aspect of the spell to beat Priests. Aggro DH is another very tough matchup. But against everything else Sunwell feels great imo.
The deck virtually always has a full hand and the vast majority of random spells are bad.
Playing against control decks in this game is like a boss fight. Imagine a new player who only has resources to aggro decks playing up against these decks. it's almost a joke.
Maybe if they don't also have access to net deck lists? You can put together a deck with above 50% wr in every rank bracket for less than 4k dust in multiple classes. Imp (infuse/no curse) Warlock, Aggro/Token Druid, Aggro DH. Those decks absolutely have game against thief Rogue and are all favored if not outright hard counters to Ramp Druid (even with Spreading plague).
And if 4k dust is too much, Aggro Druid specifically has 0 legendaries. I'm not even sure if it runs epics.
@@davidlovesyeshua But those decks are what these late game control decks prey on. Aggro decks isn't as effective anymore, considering most control decks would have more than 5 board clears not counting duplicates and discoveries.
@@darkflash32 Well yeah, if you queue into quest priest or something running 5+ board clears, you're going to have a rough time. But Thief Rogue and Ramp Druid were the decks featured in the video we're commenting on, and most of the meta isn't comprised of board clear control decks.
i came back to HS after like 1-2years of break and i need to ask: is it my casual understanding that fails or is Topior just plain, stupid design? i mean, probably 80% of druid spells are nature spells.. who in the world thought spawning 3/3 with rush is a good idea in a world were druid has the easiest time ramping up? sure, they dont have charge since we dont do that anymore but a free board builder for 3/3 without rush would've been still playable, right? it's not like modern druid lacks ways to deal with wide boards as they did in the past (scale). maybe some people may enlighten me, wether it truly is overtuned or it's just powercreep and i have the value-understanding of HS from 2years ago?
Returning during this set after the death knight announcement and seeing guff, gravetender, scale, and topior really blew my mind from the last time they shared their design intentions for druid back around boomsday. I feel the same about topior for sure.
You survived on 8 but only healed 4, so how did the denathrius save you?
Because if the opponent had lethal he would have used hero power first

At about 9:00 he plays Denathrius to gain 4 life saying it would save him from Mordresh plus hero power. The opponent then plays Mordresh/Hero power leaving him with 8 life. If he hadn't played Denathrius he would have had 4 life left instead of 8. I'm not saying it was the wrong play but it did not change the outcome of the game.
he probably forgot about the gain 5 armor deathrattle in the moment. I did as well. Still, getting a 10/10 lifesteal down is a game winning play even if it didnt matter in keeping him alive
Without the 4 health from denathrius he was actually in lethal range. If the opponent had then used their hero power before playing mordresh, the armor of kodo would not apply since his health would reach 0 before the deathrattle triggered. So it actually did matter.
If the opponent pinged and mordresh'd, the kodo deathrattle would go off after you're already dead. So that's -5, Brian math'd correctly.
