    Thanks so much for the great tips! I'm a scuba diver and could never find a Defog that would last for a long dive - so I made this one 💙 So happy to hear it's working as well for you as it does for me. Swim safe and thanks again - Autumn (Formulator for Stream2Sea)

      Would this defog product work if you applied it and then washed the lenses with sea water?

    Hi! Thank you so much! I swim in Puget Sound (Washington state, USA), and the baby shampoo solution has worked fantastically well. So much nicer to see clearly while in the water.

    Thanks for this. I used bottled stuff in the past but always a bit cautious about anything that isn't just water near my eyes. Eventually I ended up with a slightly counter intuitive solution, which was to deliberately let a small bead of water inside each goggle. When the goggles mist up I can shake my head and with face down in the water, I find the beads can then run around the inside surface and collect up any mist. All the best and thanks for the really useful items. :-)

      The water bead trick can work well, I just get annoyed with it. I need to work on the technique I think!

    Brilliant! I’ve been waiting for this video 🤩👍🏻 I decided to buy I new pair with anti fog, I will take better care of these this time! However, I’ve kept my other ones with the fog problem as I like the strap and they’re comfortable. I’m definitely going to get some of this anti fog solution. Sometimes in the pool you can just keep swimming 🏊🏼‍♀️ as you’re only going up and down the lanes but it’s a must to have clear googles in the sea. I also find clear googles stop me feeling a bit sea sick in the waves as I can see properly. I’m practicing my sighting too! Thanks for another great video 👍🏻

      I'm really pleased that you found this helpful. It's something that's been on my mind for a while, but I only remember once I've been swimming for a while and the goggles fog up, so annoying! Good luck with the new gogs. I'm meticulous at looking after mine, but they all seem to fog up in the end. 😀🏊

    Hi Rachel, thanks for your wonderful videos. I have prevented fogging for 20 years now based on a brilliant tip given to me. Do you know about toothpaste - has to be the white sort?. wipe the inside and outside with a thin layer of toothpaste (I always put on after rinsing at the end of a swim). Before you swim, clean out with fresh water -wipe it all away. Honestly, your goggles will not fog. I'm always amazed that this hasn't become swimmers lore as its such a great tip and given me many a fog free long swim over 20 years ago by a South African long distance swimmer . I'm sure that toothpaste must be slightly abrasive but I don't notice than I"m having to replace more goggles any more than the next swimmer. Give it a try

      sorry- inside and outside of lens of the goggles *

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach 3 роки тому

      I tried this once and must have used the wrong kind of toothpaste because it wrecked my goggles. I’m glad you’ve found the type which works. Does it leave your eyes minty fresh too?

    • @katesmith9696
      @katesmith9696 3 роки тому

      @@EverydayAthleteRach I think it may be something to do with putting the toothpaste on a day before the swim, it dries, then before the swim, rinsing off with freshwater so there is no residue. I use bog standard, white toothpaste - I've had a bit of smarting of eyes with coloured toothpaste. I think I've only felt a little smarting of the eyes when I've left a bit of toothpaste on the lens or when I put the toothpaste on just before swim then rinsed quickly off (i.e. I forgot to do the day before). I also leave a tiny bit of fresh water in each "lens" of the goggle. the other thing is I always use bigger goggles than you do that are more like a snorkelers goggle but are for swimming - aqua sphere etc. However I notice a lot of you who are much more serious swimmers than me use the smaller type but I in the old days I used smaller goggles. Give it a try Rach. Love how accessible you are making being an athlete. You are brilliant .

      Hi Mark, thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying the content. To increase distance, I use the Outdoor Swimming Society Dart 10K training plan. To be fair, I’m a bit slack on the technique drills (I don’t do them) but the table in it with increasing the distance has been very useful. The other way might be to train with a triathlon club? Let me know how you get on.

    Hi Rachel... great video... this product seems very effective. Maybe you’ve already done a video on this topic (uhh... I’m being lazy and haven’t checked your 100 vid’s to see if this topic has been covered -“100 swim vids”...very commendable, btw)... can you please explain to me the difference between pool goggles and outdoor swimming goggles? Common sense tells me that the field of vision is larger in outdoor swim goggles, but is there more to look for? I plan to get myself a pair of outdoor swimming goggles and I want to make an “educated purchase”. Any info or recs would be greatly appreciated, Thanks a bunch!! 🏊‍♀️🇨🇦🍁🌿

    • @EverydayAthleteRach

      I actually havent done one about the different kinds of goggles - I'll put it on the ideas list! I always go for ones which are tinted and polarised to save my eyes and give me better vision for looking at into the water. I love spotting the fish and plants! I use Swans Ascenders, DHB Fury, and Aqua Sphere Seal 2.0, but whther they're a good choice for someone else would depend on face shape. he best goggles are the ones which fit! 🤓🏊😀

I will look out for that google-fog-preventer. in a special shop. - Was so far discouraged from getting used to cold water swimming but have to organise a group of people interested in this subject (would never dare to do it alone as I am not sooo young anymore). Good luck and as usual, continue taking good care for your safety.

    Any tips on leaking goggles?

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach 2 роки тому +1

      If they didn't leak previously, it could be how you are storing or drying them - I try to hang mine from the nose bar to dry out then keep them in a soft case on top of the rest of my kit. I have tried a number of different goggles, but keep returning to DHB Fury from Wiggle, they're a great fit on me.
