I just started to get into home automation and trying to figure out what products I need since I close on my home in a few days and these were all great ideas especially the night automation. Thank you for sharing.
Great stuff Adam! Gotta love those midnight snacks but totally agree an automation is the way to go instead of using Siri in the middle of the night! All of these ideas are 👌🏼🤩!
@@AdamsTechLifeby the way. i only have two plugs. doorbell thing and the camera hub inside that motion senses. ah plus two door sensors. my system is simple. maybe in the future ill rewatch this video. cause it seems like rocket science.
Great Ideas, I really like them😊 Idea for the midnight snack kitchen automation thing: Why not using room assistant on a raspberry pi zero to check, if you are in the room at night? But it only works, if you have the phone with you in the kitchen
Awesome tips! I have a question though: Since the M1S has a speaker and can play chimes with Aqara doorbell devices, can it also play chimes with other non-Aqara smart doorbells thats connected to Homekit?
Not that i know of, the aqara chime sounds aren't exposed to HomeKit and thus couldn't be used with other non aqara doorbells. You can create your own sound though but can't use the sounds from the aqara app. Thanks for watching! 😊
What is the sexy time scene used for? Haha great video Adam - lots of sick automations. I really liked the delayed 10 second "midnight munchies" automation. I'm going to set something similar up.
Mi switch? Do yo mean the wireless mini switch? The switch can arm the security system, but if you're not leaving the house you probably dont want anything to arm
Great video. Thank you. For the security part,if the trigger device is Aqara g2H camera, will it able to tell the difference between human movement / normal motion detect ? Thank you
So I don’t have that camera anymore so i can’t say for certain but if was to guess i would say no. I don’t remember human detection being an option as a trigger, just regular motion. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video! 😊
if you're talking about the overhead lights in the kitchen, those are Philips Hue recessed lights and do that by default. I didn't have to set up or change anything. Thanks for watching! 😊
For the door opening alarm, I have noticed the min you can choose is 5 sec delay. Would it be possible to set the alarm to trigger immediately as the main purpose of my needs is to control if my son sneak out during the evening
Do I need a button to sync both Aqara and HomeKit to, let’s say night guard, at the same time? Or can I just switch my HomeKit to Night and it will arm my home guard in Aqara?
Thanks for the ideas! My question is how do you apply an automation to several like sensors? Example: I have 5 Aqara leak detectors and want flashing lights if any of them detect a leak. Can that be done or do you have to set up an automation for each and every one individually? Also I noticed a change. Most sensors not longer appear in the add automations/scenes. However you can find a "add automation" option in the sensors setting screen. Guessing this was a change due to the latest HomeKit version. Not sure I like how they display and treat sensors this way. Especially that "water" icon at the top!
Hello, thanks for your comment. I do believe you'd have to create multiple automations for the sensors, especially for home app automations. The sensor icon change in the home app is strange. Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey Jason! Thanks for your comment! I have a whole video on that. Look at the 10 automation ideas video I have and in the description is what I use! Thanks for watching! 😊 you’ll love Aqara!
For my office lights it’s Lutron for the kitchen lights, the overhead are Philips Hue and the bulbs are LIFX but any light will do. Thanks for watching! 😊
Even though you are using a aqara door sensor you are still able to create “scenes” with the different lights through the HomeKit app? or did you have to use another app? Thanks for your reply!
Unfortunately not since the alarm sound and trigger ability is done in the aqara app. The home app can only set the mode, the aqara says what aqara device to trigger the alarm in each mode. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey Adam, great vid. Thx a lot! I am using NFC to trigger alarm system turn off. After iOS 15 I have to approve to run shortcut despite of it set do not ask to do that. Before iOS 15 it worked well. Do U know what the issue is? ( Already removed and added again. Same. Does not work. ) Thx
Ehh, yes but it’s complicated and doesn’t use the alarm sounds from the aqara app. It’s possible through creating a custom sound, importing to Apple Music and choosing an in automation. There’s a bunch of steps tbh. Thanks for watching! 😊
I have looked everywhere on how to edit away mode and I can’t find it. Currently when I set system to away and walk in from of G3 camera it does nothing.
add the alert system to the homepage of the aqara app and from there you can customize actions for each mode and then create an automation for the g3 to toggle alarms or whatever you'd like it to do
If you don’t make it to turn off the alarm in the Designated time then what happens? Can you make your phone call the cops or is it just more of a deterrent/notification for you?
multiple hubs no, but there are zigbee extenders than can help extend the range. these are specific aqara devices that are constantly being powered (aqara light strip, switch, smart plug, and i think a few others)
@@AdamsTechLife nope. I mean the fan cools you when you are present, by moving the air around your body, thus evaporating the sweat. If it’s turned on/off without your presence, it won’t cool the air, it will just move it around. An air conditioning unit does the job.
I purchased the following Aqara devices: M2 hub, door/window sensor, motion sensor P1 and water leak sensor. Configured all devices in Aqara Home app. Added Aqara Home skill in Alexa app, as well as devices motion sensor P1, door/window sensor but can't seem to add Aqara water leak sensor. I'm unable to create an Alexa routine that executes when water leak is detected. Is there a way you can share to do this?
Does the leak sensor have features exposed to Alexa? I’m not sure about this. Like if you go to the Alexa routines, then smart home, then see if the sensor is there. If not, then it may not be supported. If it is, you should be able to create an automation from there. Thanks for watching! 😊
Hello, I have Aqara M1S hub. I want Aqara Home app to Arm Home Away Alerts when 2 people (both 2x iPhone 14) leave home. Me and my partner both have separate Aqara accounts and Aqara app. And my partner is My Member as Admin on the Aqara Home account. How is it possible to do Away Alert Mode when with 2 iPhones geofencing are away from home location? ..
You could use the apple home app and when the "last person leaves" trigger could arm/disarm the system. I don't think this is possible in the aqara app.
I'm setting up an automation in the Aqara app for the alarm but don't see anyway of controlling the volume of the alarm. Any help would be appreciated.
@@AdamsTechLifeThank you for your reply. I would prefer to use Homekit units since I already have an operational wifi network in every corner of the apartment. Will I still need several aqara hubs or will one aqara hub work over the wifi network? I am asking because I had to install 2 Philips Hue hubs.
One suggestion I would make is to put all of your devices that you are going to control in an Automation into a Scene. That way if you need to make a change, you only have to change the scene and not try and remember every Automation that has a particular device that you want to control. In addition, if you want to add something to your automation, you only have to update the scene. IMHO, it is a much cleaner and easier way to control your home automations, especially when you have a lot of them.
That is a good idea. Only issue is being overloaded with having too many scenes and then having to remember which does what but that goes with having too many devices as well 🤣 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve started doing that tho
Exit Delay: I found that rather than having to set this at all in Aqara app, it is convenient to use the geofencing option "when the last person leaves home" in Homekit to set my Aqara alarm system to Away mode. However, I chose not to do this for the Home or Off mode as that might mean that, if I were to come home when the alarm is going off because of intrusion, it would turn the alarm off as I arrived when in fact, I would prefer it to remain on until I cleared the issue and shut it off.
I hope Aqara will make it possible to choose which hub device gives an alarm sounds so not all hubs go in alarm. I have a Aqara camera Hub in my daugther’s bedroom and I don’t want that specific hub to go off!!! She will be shocked!
This works with all modern routers. It’s not recommended to have split 2.4/5 channels networks but instead use a mesh that automatically broadcast both with a single ssd and the device picks the correct channel. Thanks for watching! 😊
Your alarm system is a bit pointless if someone breaking in can simply disable it by pushing a button on the wall. That's why alarms have keypads with PIN codes.

Yes, that’s exactly right. Devices that work with homekit can work together in the home app. Thanks for watching! 😊
Can I use this hub just like a keypad seen in Ring or Eufy.
Aqara doesn't have a dedicated keypad. other aqara devices can be used to disarm the system.
Hello, is there a way to use Aqara automation (in their app) to repeat automation when a door contact is left opened ?
i don't believe so, no
Hi. The aqara hub has the alarm option. In HK Can I have a non aqara sensor like fibaro leak sensor or Eve leak sensor trigger the aqara alarm?
