Check the Table of contents (w/ timestamps) in the description box if you want to skip around or just grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the whole thing. Thanks!

    I like the idea of a 26" kettle grill without legs.
    if its intended to be set into a table (which is what I personally want),
    it would be great if you could also create a way to space and shield the table cut-out from the heat of the kettle.

    The probe thermometer discussion was interesting. If I go to friend or relatives events I know that I will probably asked to cook, so I put a Lavatools Javelin in my pocket. I use my Thermoworks at home, but I keep a Lavatools probe around just for this. Not enough people use a temp probe. Twenty-five bucks, and if the host doesn't have a probe thermometer, I'll use it for the cook and give it to them after cooking. Probe thermometers make you a better cook. I haven't gone anywhere for the last however many months, but before that I would maybe give away two a year. We don't get out much. And at $25 each, it's not a big deal and is appreciated because the food turns out better.

    Why was the temperature gauge on the kamado changed to one with less range? In most of the SnS Kamado videos, the gauge seems to go up to 900+, but on mine it caps out at 700. Not that it's a problem most of the time, but if I wanted to do a Neopolitan style pizza or something, that's a problem... though I could probably work around it by using my infrared thermometer on the pizza stone.

    I haven't used my Weber kettle since I got my SnS Kamado either. I am still learning the vent settings and stuff even after 3 months. I will try to write a review for it when I feel like I'm more experienced with it, but I will just say trying to do ribs with the SnS on the Kettle and in the SnS Kamado with TurboSlow is a world of difference, especially in terms of effort, as with the kettle I was going out there and messing with the bottom vents a lot more... though granted, my kettle's damper blades are severely warped so they probably let in more air than they should.

      have you tried other kamados like bge or kamado joe?

    • @praetorxyn
      @praetorxyn 3 роки тому +2

      @@ryanschwarz3024 No. I decided against Big Green Egg because 1. I think the color is hideous and 2. The way the BGE price structure works is that the price isn't bad, but you pay out the nose to get all the accessories that other stuff mostly just comes with.
      I decided against Kamado Joe because a 18" KJ Classic 3 is $1700, whereas I was able to get the 22" SnS Deluxe Kamado for $1400, and about $300 worth of accessories for it for the same price.
      It depends on what you're after. The SnS gives true two zone cooking with the Slow N Sear, and the TurboSlow technology does give great smoking results in my experience. To explain it, where the Slow N Sear is so high up in the grill, you can open the top vent wider than you normally would to build a hotter, less efficient fire and some of the heat escapes the dome in the form of bypass heat. So you can burn a hotter fire to get better smoke than a kamado would typically give you, but it's not like I have a KJ with a Slo Roller to directly compare the two.
      The SnS is going to be way better at searing meats than either of the other two will thanks to the Slow N Sear, and I find it easier to use as well. I only tend to use the traditional kamado setup when I need the whole cooking area, like when I'm doing a pizza or a ton of wings; I could do wings with the Slow N Sear using the elevated cooking grate, but things on the elevated grate cook faster in my experience, so I'd have to rotate the wings and I'm too lazy to do that.

      @@praetorxyn thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out what to buy and now I’m seriously frozen, unable to decide if I want a kettle and a smoker as separate items or a kamado for both. I kept hearing these horror stories about Kamados ability to grill evenly. This sounds promising though

    • @praetorxyn
      @praetorxyn 3 роки тому +1

      @@ryanschwarz3024 The SnS kamado with teh Slow N Sear setup definitely grills evenly. For most of what I cook, I don't even flip the meat during the indirect cook (I do flip steak when it's around 80-90 internal, and I flip everything during the sear).
      I bought a kamado because they're pretty good at everything, and also because I like to grill in the winter, and the thick ceramic of a kamado doesn't tend to care how cold it is once you get a fire built in it.
      Kamados excel at roasting temperatures, but most kamados aren't great at smoking or searing. The SnS kamado is every bit as good at searing as a kettle with the Slow N Sear, and in my experience gives good smoking results.
      If you can afford a nice 1/4" offset like one of the ones from Lone Star Grillz, that will of course give you better smoking results; some of them like the Lone Star Grillz ones can even grill over the fire to sear a steak or something, I've seen it done. But those are very expensive.
      Your average backyard offset is still going to give better smoking results than the SnS kamado, but it won't be able to do anything else BUT smoke.
      Another option to consider is the Blaze kamado. Ceramic kamados will not last forever; use produces microcracks on the surface etc, they aren't the type of item you are passing on to your grandkids, as you can't beat the laws of physics, but the Blaze kamado is basically indestructible, it's 1" thick cast aluminum, so it will last forever pretty much. The Blaze is expensive though, as the base unit is $1900 and the model that comes with a cart (assuming you don't have an outdoor island insert to set it on) is $2500 or so. The accessories ran a little high for it too, but it would be a great option.
      If you really want to be paralyzed, take a look at the Komodo Kamado lineup. They are insanely expensive - especially for the Serious Big Bad - but they're the best ceramic kamados in the world.
      A great cheap option though is the SnS Kettle. It comes with the Slow N Sear, and unlike other kettles, it has a thermometer probe port and a blower fan port pre-installed into it. The ash basket is also WAY easier to remove than the one on the Weber kettle. This means you can attach a BBQ Guru fan with a Fireboard 2 Drive controller or something and just set a target temperature, without having to drill a hole for it or pinch thermometer wires under your lid. The only catch is that it's going to use a lot of fuel in the winter as all kettles do.

    45:08 - Why does fitting in a dishwater mater at all? I'm not following on the lack of a 26" griddle pan due to that requirement.

    • @SnSGrills
      @SnSGrills  3 роки тому

      Let me rephrase that explanation so it makes more sense. The biggest challenge w/ accessories for the 26 is there are a limited amount of people in the world who own the 26 kettle...and even fewer willing to spend money on those accessories. Which equates to them being expensive to make (to cover tooling.)
      The number one feature of the SS Drip 'N Griddle pan according to feedback we get is it's machine washable. That is the main reason people pay for the stainless vs the cheaper options we have available. If we tool up and produce a 26 DnG it's going to be sitting there right next to the 22 inch version. It will cost alot more and it won't fit in the dishwasher. Meanwhile the cheaper 22 will fit in the dishwasher and it will work fine in a 26 inch kettle...which means 26 D&G's will sell likely sell even more slowly.
      We are not a huge company and we can't do everything so we focus on things people want most while we are growing. Not ruling it out. But that is the challenge we are up against. I hope it makes sense.

    No additional talk about a SNS low profile? No questions about a limited run if a large enough group would be willing to preorder?
    Last time all Dave said was he didn’t want a 24” line. He didn’t say why. Or why he marked the low profiles as “out of stock” on the website instead of letting everyone know they would be discontinued.

    • @SnSGrills
      @SnSGrills  3 роки тому

      Ah! I just wrote out a long comment and accidentally deleted it. Shorter version this time. The decision to discontinue the LP came after it was out of stock. Once they made the decision to discontinue it was was marked as such.
      Regarding 24 inch products in general. I believe he did mention that. There is no easy place to set a SNS in BGE or KJ and still have the cooking grates in place...and fashioning racks to hold everything in the right space for ever single model of kamado would have raised the prices to the point the whole arrangement didn't make sense. (You are basically remodeling the entire interior design of the cooker.) And on top of all that, if those other kamado companies change their designs in the future, it could make our entire product unusable.
      In the end, this is exactly how Dave ended up deciding to make his own kamado. He could design the cooker exactly how he wanted it (and pick the materials it was made out of) instead of trying to force the SNS into cookers it wasn't designed for, and he doesn't have to worry about a new body style coming out at any moment rendering all that work/investment moot. The bonus effect is the SNS Kamado is made out of the best ceramics on the market and held together with 304 stainless steal so there's less issues with rust and other issues over the long haul. It's a win/win. Hope this answers your question. Thank you for watching. We appreciate it.

      I always assumed the SNS Low Profile was made with the Weber Summit Charcoal in mind. I also assume the majority of people wishing they could get their hands on a low profile are Summit owners that missed the boat.

      @@SnSGrills Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. If you don’t mind me asking some follow up questions, I guess I’m not sure how the BGE and Kamado Joe effect the low profile. It feels like that was designed for the Weber Summit Charcoal grill and many many WSC owners still really want one. This leads to my most important question and one nobody has addressed yet, would you be willing to do a limited run of low profiles if enough people pre paid for them. I have no doubt I could get at least 50-100 people to prepay. People talk about it all the time on WSC forums

    On the topic of a 26" kettle, I think if you offered it and it brought more features than the webers version I think it would sell more. I currently have an old 22 weber, wanting to upgrade to either a sns kettle, or a performer/mastertouch or even the 26". If sns offered a 26" with all the same features of the current one It would blow the competition away. I like smoking briskets on my 22 but I'm always wanting more space. The webers 26 is so basic that imo the people who would use it want more premium features than it has.

(That happily also has Zavod44 wood accessories. Beautiful.) The 26er with the SnS is maybe the best cooker, but I don't think that most customers really understand that, and a SnS 26 might not be the right choice to offer.

      Longer answer...Our design looks similar because of some similar design features but it's not a rebranded anything. We have our own kilns (our name baked in) and are our kamado is unique in size, the internals, and most importantly materials. There is literally nothing else like it. Ours also is made out of best in class ceramics and held together with 304 Stainless. You could say it's overkill but it's definitely NOT "the same" as everyone else.)

      Hey Jim. We talked about that a little bit last time. ❎ interesting
    most people have webs,
    yet they modify.
    Temp by vent
    Air portal
    SnS and sns drip griddle.
    It will be good when a kettle is completely intergrated.

    putting that much $$ in a small kamado makes zero sense...sns kettle or weber kettle 26 is the smart move here.....

      Just to clarify, our kamado is not "small." It's almost 40 percent bigger than the "large" big green egg and very well priced for what you get relative to other ceramic cookers of similar quality. The oversized vents make it seem smaller than it is, but once you see it in person its like "wow!" With that said, kettles are excellent bang for the buck and we are a huge fan. Thanks for watching, Ken.

      @@SnSGrills so, if you want to compare your Kamado to BGE do so; but I commented on your comparing the Sns kettle to the kamado.....

    I truly like you guys, and your videos. But 51 minutes is too long. Remember, the normal Male's attention span is about what it takes to read the sports page. Keep it shorter. 😊

      Hi Terry, Haha. That's funny. Yeah the recipe videos will always be shorter, but we get a TON of questions about products, future plans, and business that don't fit in 8 minute recipe videos so that's why we created this series for more of a long form discussion where we can really break things down. It was so popular last time we decided to do it again.
      We will still be doing recipe videos. In fact, we have a new one coming on Sunday. We'll see you then!

      @@SnSGrills the fact that you labeled the sections for quickly scanning and listening specific parts was a nice touch for a long form interview. Please continue with the index’s!

      @@guitarjoel717 Yeah, that was the idea. I just forgot to mention it in the video (or this reply). Thanks, Joel.
