    I'm very interested in airbag technology and I just found your channel. Your presentation skills are excellent.
    I own a couple of Helite Turtle 1's and also I bought a couple of Huanqui airbag vests for testing purposes. I produced a couple of UA-cam videos of timing tests. The Helite's inflate in 100m/s (XL) and 75m/s (M) whereas the Huanqui's inflated in 500m/s. The problem with the Huanqui's is mainly in the trigger design and maybe also the bladder design and routing.
    My research is focused on developing a low-cost airbag vest that actually has similar protection to the $500 tethered systems. I feel that $500+ might be fine for well-off people but where I live in Mongolia, that's way too much for the majority of the population and the Huanqui (Hit-Air / Helite copies) type airbag vests are not fit for purpose.

    Great review--i am in Thailand and wanted something that will airflow and withstand torrential rain [so no electronics[ be resettable by myself and i wanted a jacket airbag combo....the most important factor is coverage of the neck and lower back not just the chest area. I just ordered a MX-8 Hit Air jacket in silver to reflect the sunlight and keep me cooler. It does not weigh much more than my present mesh jacket and i can buy canisters locally for a pretty low price so will carry one with me on longer trips. Thanks for the detailed review -new sub to your channel--you are clear and concise and covered all the details. I am impressed with the level of quality of Hit Air but then again it's made in Japan so the quality is very high. I will be interested to see how much air flow i get compared to my present conventional air mesh jacket.

      Thank you for the positive comments. Glad it was helpful to you. I found it did affect airflow to some extent (what atmored jacket doesnt?), but its a small price to pay for the added safety, imo. The bonus is i have removed the hot and bulky built-in back pro in my jacket and increased comfort a bit as the airbag now protects that area.
      Keep safe and enjoy the ride 😉👍🏽

    My friend, good comments in my opinion. I got the same conclusion that tethered are better for me but I leave for each one to decide, again thank you for sharing your opinion as well. Can I ask why this model and not the MLV-C that has lateral coverage?

    Is the built in back protector inside or outside the airbag?
    I’m wondering if this ST model with the built in airbag is better than the standard model worn over my regular riding jacket and it’s CE back protector?

    • @PAbrera1
      @PAbrera1  2 роки тому

      Tnx for chiming in. Personally there are still times when i just grab my jacket n not d vest (like if i hop on my scooter for a quick commute). So sometimes its still prederable for me to have the back pro on the jacket rather than the airbag vest.

    Hey there i have dainese tuono d air jacket. I am wondering can i wear this over my d air jacket. This provides way more protection than my jacket.

    • @PAbrera1
      @PAbrera1  3 роки тому

      Thats a beautiful jacket 👌🏽 Hhmm, could be overkill. While i do feel the coverage of the hit air vest is superior (especially when it comes to stabilizing the neck) You’ll have two inflations ontop of one another, which may not leave enough room for each system to do thier jobs properly, youll also have the bulk of 2 CE back protectors ontop of each other. Personally, given the tropical climate of where i live, Id rather use the hitair vest with a lighter weight non-airbag jacket (im partial to mesh with CE elbow/shoulder armor) so i get the benefit of comfort and protection.

    Thanks for the video, This fellow Pinoy is in the market for one, and keep rounding back to the analog / tethered system, also why the Hit air and not the Helite? and how will this do if you were rear ended?

    • @PAbrera1
      @PAbrera1  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for chiming in. HitAir is my preference i feel like thier designs are a bit slimmer but Helite has a prrtty good reputation as well.
      Since making the feature the Klim tetherless has caught my eye. You can now refill the vest yourself if it were to deploy (up to 3x before having to send back to be checked by manufacturer). Nice and streamlined but of course some concerns still remain: constant cost of maintainance/subscription and need to make sure your battery is always topped up.

    • @lennykibbs260
      @lennykibbs260 2 роки тому

      @@PAbrera1 The Klim system is on my radar (if I go autonomous) due to the neck coverage that's similar to the Hit and Helite if worn on the outside,, but from all the deployment videos that I've seen with vests worn under and over, the over vests seem to stabilize the neck area better, as the under vests seem to be a little hindered from the jacket. Still on the fence since I'm not sure how well the tethered system will do in a rear end collision and the Ai I believe has a built in algorithm for such a scenario

    I dont trust computers so im getting a tethered air vest

    • @PAbrera1
      @PAbrera1  3 роки тому

      Pros and cons, i guess. Nothing against tetherless vests per se, In fact since making this video a number of newer tetherless vests have entered the market. Now “serviceable/reloadable” by the user. But with the higher initial buy-in and a monthly “subscription” fee required, tethered vests still fit the bill for me. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and comments.

    • @Needcoffeeee

      Too many points of failure in my opinion which is leading me to buy a Tethered vest. The tetherless vests rely on gimbals, gyros, its battery, the little metal button that "readies the vest", software updates, and not to mention, the vest needs to sense youre moving at least 10kph for it to work.

      Another downside for me for the tetherless is that batteries and computers don't like water so I hate to think what happens if it rains and you're soaked wet. Maybe they will claim that they're waterproof but we will never know, like some phones for example claims to be waterproof but water can still seep in.
