Seems like that's a common thought from people in the MB lineup. Haven't gotten the chance to start reviewing the Audi lineup yet but the R8 is one of my fav cars
Too many electronics that can fail that cost too much to fix, not for me.
Just one or two things. Definitely have to make sure you have the budget to repair just in case but I'd extend the warranty at time of purchase or just lease and turn it in instead
Love the design of Mercedes but I'm not a fan of the gear shifter. Great review!
Thanks! Glad I'm not the only one who thought that.. The gear shifter threw me off so much. I was searching everywhere down the center stack and wasn't expecting it to be on the steering wheel column.
Steve, I think Mercedes is a victim of their own past successes. They have a well-earned reputation for having all the newest technology in their vehicles. However, once they add it to the vehicles functionality, they then have to decide on a place where the driver can interface with the technology. And the result is a really busy and confusing steering wheel.
Good point.. There is a lot to these cars. I could only imagine the fine line that engineers have to walk when designing the features in a way that's somewhat intuitive to use and looks good
