There is just the nicest most lovely comments out here, about the cottage, the workmanship and the lovely animals, warms my heart here in the cold, sad USA.
I love and admire your persistence in getting it right. I come from a family of Irish builders. I’m 4th generation on both sides but my great grandparents immigrated to Massachusetts . No matter where you were born if you come to Ireland you feel like you’ve come home. I’m rooting for you guys. And saying a few prayers, too. Your attention to detail is remarkable. You two are a wonderful loving couple setting a terrific example and work ethic for your family. One more thing, I love to see your kindness to animals. Good on you all around and God bless.❤️
So brilliant to hear Sam saying "I can do that" with such confidence. The end is in sight now folks, and if that will not quite mean being totally finished, you'll have a roof and windows and your cottage will be watertight. What an AMAZING achievement!
Dear guys .... by happenstance, I came across your year-long compilation. I enjoy watching renovations/restoration videos but I was absolutely entranced and awed by your sheer diligence and doggedness in working through every single step. Having done some (very modest) remodeling on our home, I can appreciate ... no, wait ... I actually *can't* ... imagine how much dreary work All THAT POINTING must have been. And all the stone work that Sam has had to deal with. But it is work that needs to be done and you have simply stepped up and trudged on. At this point, you're seeing the fruits of your continued labor. You can look back at the barn annex and feel immense satisfaction on all the pointing nicely done. You can look at all the doorways and lintels that have been rebuilt. To be sure, there are some major tasks yet to be done, but your perseverance spurs you onwards .... and then also the realization that you are building your *home*, so all those tasks *need* to be done! After I watched your year-long compilation, I sought out your channel and binge-watched every single video you had posted. My husband just shook his head (he has ants in his pants and can't sit still long enough!). After this massive video marathon, I have now been caught up and am current. This leaves me in the curious position of now having to WAIT for your weekly video. I'm not used to waiting for them! But I eagerly look forward to all of your future videos and have every confidence that you will finish up brilliantly. Keep up your superlative endeavours and carry on! 🙂

Chickens know! I thought the same thing! The robins come and dig in the garden right next to me when I planting in the spring! They, like the chickens know where the minerals, bugs and worms are! Easy pickings!
@sharonheron7559 haha..."wee stumpy legs"...perfect! Watching our chickens is so relaxing - comedic at times, but they do know how to clean up insects! 💝
Your place is going to be absolutely fabulous. Modern technology will bring the past to the present. But you'll still have the old world charm. I'm loving it.😊
I’m an ex Pome (Prisoner of mother England) now living the dream on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. Anyone that comes over from the UK is generally called a Pome, it’s done in a very light hearted way. I’ve been watching your channel for about two months now and have just subscribed. Everything you and your wonderful family (and that includes all the animals, because let’s face it, they are most definitely part of the family) do is truly inspirational. Keep doing what you all do ❤🇦🇺
Interpreted as, yeah Ireland looks nice and wet, sell up, hop on a plane to Oz and experience a warm climate and stop your muckin' about! As a proud Irishman, this is the advice you'd get from me. Climate changes everything. There are cities in Siberia that get more yearly hours of sunshine than Ireland. Sincerely, kop on.
Love the rooster herding his 'ladies' together and watching over them while they scrounge for worms. Sam, you are a perfectionist and a half. That cottage will be standing for another 400 years after all the careful work you've put into her. Bec, love your plans for a lovely landscape. I want a garden like that too! You two make me want to move to Ireland and buy a derelict house as well.
You know what's funny? To see those chickens always right in the midst of any action - it doesn't matter if there's huge machinery around or loud noises - they want to be right around the action! (lol). Great job, Sam - and we missed you Bec. It's amazing how nice the homestead looks after all that rubbish was hauled away - you must feel a bit relived. :)
You're doing an amazing job. Not only by restoring the building but also the love and care you give to all the animals. God bless and all the best for the cold winter ahead! 😀

Enjoyed that. What a difference between this week's ending and last weeks. This week Sam knows he's got this job on the run, the end is in sight. Great progress, keep going!
The opening video is stunning. We could see the whole operation in a clear manner. The amount of gravel you brought in and the engineering plan to use it to control water and soil is incredible. Good work.
I always enjoy the opening scenes, and the hen harem looking for worms and chasing the backhoe was perfect. I really enjoy watching you work Sam, you are so skilled and tidy as you work. The floor looked wonderful, clean, tidy and everything laid out in the right place ready for use. Love the twinkle in your eye, and the confidence you are gaining, and also pride in the work of your hands. Missed Bec and Liam this week, but no doubt it was home schooling time. Tilley and Toby looked so peaceful and calm, a tribute to all of you in the family. Have a SAFE week, and don't take chances, please.🌼
OMG!!! Absolutely brilliant, what else can I say, you guys have done such an amazing job, so far. It's great seeing the changes week by week, it just be so uplifting to look back to what you started with and see how far you have got.very well done !!!! 😮
Yet again you have smashed it out of the park Sam. Every piece you do gets you that little bit closer to having the roof done and completely dried in well done to you both be safe and crack on
Your chickens make me smile every time I watch a video, they're everywhere. They must be the happiest little chucks alive, they're near the digger, getting nice fresh worms & bobbing in & out of rhe house....bet they lay the best eggs ever. They're definitely not camera shy 😅😂xx
Such hard workers and great teamwork shows more and more each day. You thank us but I thank you for allowing me to journey along. Safety first for sure and grateful that yuu are OK following the fall. Yes I always look forward to your channel have a good week.
Oh, thank goodness! I was scared to death when I saw all that paving around the house, remembering how much Bec (and I) loved the plantings around the house when you first got there. I really look forward to seeing that again.
Your videos are like therapy in this crazy world. I love how much progress you are making. The outside looks wow and its so good to know that you have done a proper job with the underground drains. Sam's attitude is tremendous, he is a perfectionist with just enough pragmatism thrown in to get the job done. Stay safe and remember safety first always. Well done on the cleanup, it always make it so much easier to tackle the next job when the site is clean and tidy. I've said it before but I'll say it again, the example you guys are showing to your children is invaluable. They must be so proud of you both.
You do realise that when the house is finished we are still going to want our weekly vlog! I hope you carry on for at least another 5/10 years. Well done to you both, it's looking incredible xx
Be careful Sam, I look forward to seeing you every week. When the cottage is completed you should make a UA-cam channel with tips on joinery and other trades that you are exceptionally good at. Just love your dialogue you are very entertaining Sam and Rebecca.🇨🇮☘️Cead Mile Failte to Erie.
I am soooo impressed with you Sam for all the stone work you've done and Becky for all the pointing! And I love your animals: Toby and his new friend (does she have a name yet) and the chickens and hens and dogs and cats and...have I missed any? I hope you will end up with a wonderful cozy warm home that you'll look back on 25 years from now and it'll still be wonderful.Love you all. Diane
Wishing you well from Oklahoma 🌪️ Ireland holds a special place in my heart. My Nana was born in Cobh and came to the USA as an indentured servant at 3 years old in the 1890s.
That apron of gravel outside will be such a help to you in the rainy climate .I grew up in a lovely green grassed dairying area and absolutely detest mud ❤
Love the cockerel at the start corralling all the hens in to find the grubs in the newly moved soil 😍 And, of course, the beautiful perfect shuttering 😉
Everything is going together so beautifully, and your skills are multiplying with each brick and stone laid. It is not only great to see your work, but the enjoyment it gives you is just as satisfying to me. Hope you're all having a lovely weekend xx
Lovely, lovely! We are so happy for you all and admire your work ethic. You don't look for others or the government to provide for you but surround yourself with like minded people who help you out and I'm sure you help them. God bless you all and we look forward to seeing it all finished. (although gardens are never finished).
Your videos are a great mix of seeing you building your dream home and all the animals roaming. I love the chickens. They seem like they're your little inspectors, checking you're working and doing a good job 😂 I'm gonna get back to catching up on your video's ❤
I love how many times those chickens have ducked out from under the back hoe. Smart chickens...or at least quick ones! Sam, you are a marvel! If it had been me, I'd have gotten fed up and said, "Screw it. It stays crooked!" That's why you're building and I'm watching! Lol.

I love the chickens. Enjoyed watching your rooster round up the hens for the newly overturned dirt where they were finding yummies. Enjoying watching you build your home. Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤
Bec, you’re going to need donkey friendly plantings in your new garden beds! 😅. Coming along so well, good to get way past the destruction part of the build to the creation part! 😊😊
Another fantastic, informative video! I would like to thank you for the journey, for your inspiration and thoughts and ideas. @@theirishhomestead I know how difficult it is getting the videos done, we did it for a while a couple of years ago, so time consuming, it's the behind the scenes stuff that all too often takes the most time. Have a lovely week ❤️
The hens know where to find the 😮 worms, grubs, and bugs. Newly turned soil is a haven for chickens. 😊 Boy o boy having the land cleared makes things feel so much better and I even feel the weight lifted off of your shoulders. So much nicer.😊😊😊😊

Yes he was a much more positive man at the end of this one. 👍
The opening video is stunning. We could see the whole operation in a clear manner. The amount of gravel you brought in and the engineering plan to use it to control water and soil is incredible. Good work.
OMG Sam you have done an amazing job! Bloody hell, you're brilliant!
Thank you. I'll be good. 🤞🍀
I love the fact that wherever you stand, however you move, the laser level line on your hat is solidly fixed😂
I was watching and thinking how funny it was that he was using the laser level today and his hat matched.😅
OMG!!! Absolutely brilliant, what else can I say, you guys have done such an amazing job, so far. It's great seeing the changes week by week, it just be so uplifting to look back to what you started with and see how far you have got.very well done !!!! 😮
Thank you so much!
I love the sound of your animals. Every week all i can say is well done.
I always love tuning in on Saturday to see what you've accomplished! Keep on keeping on!
I wish I'd done something like this when I was younger. I'm so impressed with your work.
Taking me far too long to work out if it was the laser line or an orange line around Sams hat!
🤣🤣
Yes , me too!
♥️
Gosh what a tidy worker you are. Doesn’t the cottage look fabulous already. I just love watching it all come together. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😀😀😀😀✅✅✅✅✅✅
Thanks Monica.
You do realise that when the house is finished we are still going to want our weekly vlog! I hope you carry on for at least another 5/10 years. Well done to you both, it's looking incredible xx
🤣 you'll be bored of us by then.
🤣 how to with Sam.
I am soooo impressed with you Sam for all the stone work you've done and Becky for all the pointing! And I love your animals:
Toby and his new friend (does she have a name yet) and the chickens and hens and dogs and cats and...have I missed any? I hope you will end up with a wonderful cozy warm home that you'll look back on 25 years from now and it'll still be wonderful.Love you all. Diane
Hi Diane. Thanks so much. Tilly is her name and the only animals missed were the rabbits and guinea pigs. 🤣
Love the cockerel at the start corralling all the hens in to find the grubs in the newly moved soil 😍
And, of course, the beautiful perfect shuttering 😉
Thanks for taking us along!
It's all coming together for you and the ground work outside is looking brilliant. Keep up the good work Sam and everyone ❤
Everything is going together so beautifully, and your skills are multiplying with each brick and stone laid.
It is not only great to see your work, but the enjoyment it gives you is just as satisfying to me.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend xx
Lovely way to start the weekend love your channel
Lovely, lovely! We are so happy for you all and admire your work ethic. You don't look for others or the government to provide for you but surround yourself with like minded people who help you out and I'm sure you help them. God bless you all and we look forward to seeing it all finished. (although gardens are never finished).
That is great work guys. Seriously looking to get the roof on. 🎉🎉
Your videos are a great mix of seeing you building your dream home and all the animals roaming. I love the chickens. They seem like they're your little inspectors, checking you're working and doing a good job 😂 I'm gonna get back to catching up on your video's ❤
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy watching
I love how many times those chickens have ducked out from under the back hoe. Smart chickens...or at least quick ones!
Sam, you are a marvel! If it had been me, I'd have gotten fed up and said, "Screw it. It stays crooked!" That's why you're building and I'm watching! Lol.
You can see it coming together sam, both you and becks should be so proud at what you have achieved can't wait to see it finished.x
Your ace skilled what an achievement immensely satisfying
Jimmy’s clean up is magnificent !!! 👏👏👏
God Bless you all ……
Another great episode. Land is looking so good, won't be long Bec before your gardening skills will be needed.
Looking great. So much hard work is paying off. Loved seeing the chickens donkey and Nell. Hope the kitties are doing well also.
This progress is amazing bearing in mind all that work you did cladding the caravan, very proud of you all!
Brilliant progress this week Sam 👏👏👏👏
You are doing everything by the book …. No short cuts and so you have every right to be chuffed … what a transformation Jimmy has made with his skill … just perfect 👍👍👍ready for that beautiful garden Becs 😁☺️
Durban SA🇿🇦
Great job. Great tidy up. Help s clear the head and keep you moving forward. Well done.
Gee I so love that caring rooster with his girls - to me the animals are such an asset to any farm.😇
He is brilliant. I kept that bit in to show how he always brings them where the food is and ensures nobody is left behind.
Great progress well done. That must be giving you both a boost. Outside is looking fantastic.
I love the chickens. Enjoyed watching your rooster round up the hens for the newly overturned dirt where they were finding yummies. Enjoying watching you build your home. Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! The chickens are stars of the show a lot of the time! 🤣Thank you.
Bec, you’re going to need donkey friendly plantings in your new garden beds! 😅. Coming along so well, good to get way past the destruction part of the build to the creation part! 😊😊
A big fence/hedge or wall will hopefully do the trick! Eventually we plan on renting a field for them in the summer.
The Irish Homestead and morning coffee ! A great way to start the day. Be good to yourselves and thanks for sharing your adventure.
Another fantastic, informative video! I would like to thank you for the journey, for your inspiration and thoughts and ideas. Glad you are ok after the tumble, could have been a disaster 😌 Things seem to be really coming together now! Nell, what a beautiful dog and Toby and Tilly just chilling ❤ Looking forward to next week's installment, wish there was still a midweek one 🤭
Ahh yes we may add a few random ones in but have to admit I find it much easier doing one a week. Thanks. ♥️
Oh it’s all looking good. Beautiful footage and great determination.
You know… were I to have that laser problem I would march back into the house and lay around until inspiration hit me… If I ever get married again Sam your skills are the new standard. I just can’t believe all the work you and Rebecca get done. It’s so inspiring. I’m in California and have started a food forest in my backyard. Basically fruit trees and vegetables in garden beds, a bee hive and plants to draw the pollinators to my yard… I have just started so we’ll see… Thank you for the inspiration. And kids you’re doing a great job also so keep up the good work!❤❤❤
Sounds amazing. A food garden is perfect and we should all have one...if only ♥️
It did make me smile, when you were showing the laser, you panned round back to you and I thought oh it’s showing on Sam’s head too. But no it was your hat 😂😂😂
The chickens make me laugh, I'm sure they think the ground was turned over just for them.
What a transformation outside, regards to Jimmy he's done a grand job.
Sam, well done for persevering and getting the lazer levels right. Don't forget to sign the ring beam.
It's so nice to hear Sam talking about stud walls already.
Well done team, STAY SAFE SAM
From week to week the Irish homestead just keeps looking more and more phenomenal, you guys are doing such an incredible job, the work, dedication and passion you’ve put into this project is truly inspiring and you should be immensely proud of yourselves. 👏🏻🫶💚
