I would argue that double/triple midair rocket kills in Quake (shooting a guy in midair with a rocket to bounce him up higher and then midair rocketing again for the kill, or a 3rd if hes full stack) are up there with it.
No use ranking them, but the kills in Battlefield where you jump out of you plane, destroy an enemy plane, then reenter your own plane are a pretty absurd demonstration as well.

Ngl, I really loved the ol' boomer arena and movement shooters, but somehow missed Tribes Ascend entirely until right after it shut down. I was really excited for the Finals when the first trailer dropped because it had some vibes and was sadly disappointed how much I was wrong. Super glad to (hopefully) play this time around.
There's back to back morter kills in the second last clip of the montage. The mortar currently has a very shallow arc and massive range, so I'd expect some changes there (bringing back the green smoke would be nice too!)
Agreed - it needs to be beefed up, in terms of look, shot and explosion. It does enough damage, but I'd like to see more arc, and a shorter instant explosion timer.

Just a reminder that you can still play T1 and T2 any time you want and they're still great games. The reason you can still play them is that they had private servers, mods, and user made maps. Any "Tribes" game without these things will just be another flash in the pan like Ascend.
The small game is right on. If it prospers to the big, base defense and vehicles all while having 128 players it's worth investing and if they stay in the lane.

This honestly looks like it's got the feel of Tribes 2, something some of the other remakes was lacking. I'm so hyped to play this, was a turret monkey back in the day.
Unfortunately not a lot of turret monkey action currently. The medium armor can deploy one small turret, but it's not very threatening & is destroyed easily.

Looks like Ascend at the moment but def plays differently... No health regen, no vehicles (yet), and movement is very different too. Takes some getting used to
I would need a massive and very detailed video about the whole meta about this commnunity around T2, T:A, midair 2, T3 ... I've been a full-blooded Tribes player since I was young, but I always lost the connection when official servers went down....
The movement is quite different from previous tribes games - it's hard to compare it. It's a lot easier to get moving but currently a lot less jet power too. But still only in alpha so room to change.
i need to see some movement tech. i'm don't wanna be soaring through the air with just hoping nobody hits a shot. i need control. some way to redirect my momentum

I am the =*= and {ZORN} oldf*g. This gives me some HiRez era Tribes vibes but I am not sure if it should be advertised as T1/2 successor. Where is the base building? Where are the endless maps and vehicles?

I give them credit for trying, but I think they tried to do to put it out too fast and didn't capture what most of us loved about the older Tribes games. The big, grand scale was missing. Still, it was fun while it lasted - but I'm back playing Midair 2 again now.
Mmmh Shazbot!, energy based sniper rifle should be the only hitscan weapon in the game, get rid of the halo looking BS, lean into Faction specific aspects. Chain gun from t1 FTW IMO. Not perks, use backpacks. The driving force to modernize the game is what's wrong with it. Hope it's real old school.

The actual game has you using jetpacks to gain height and then frictionless boots to ski on the terrain to build up speed. You coordinate with your team to clear out or distract enemy defences while someone else on your team tries to fly by as fast as they can to grab the flag and bring it back to your base for capture. There's obv a bit more involved than just that but that's essentially the core of the capture the flag game mode which is the most popular in Tribes games.
New players who try this are going to be shocked how the missiles have momentum and aiming needs to be like you have 2000 ping. Yeah. Seems realistic, but feels like ass. Thats why everyone stopped playing it. How many times this game needs to be made till its actually playable? "But it has momentum bruh" Yeah, sure. Have some momentum with the 20 weekly player base.
Which previous Tribes game had a weekly playerbase of 20 not long after launch? I've played them all (besides Aerial Assault) and don't recall any of them having problems with their playerbase size (except Tribes: Vengeance which had the release of World of Warcraft to compete with). Some people appreciate a game with a higher skill requirement.
They won't be shocked, because (at least in the last playtest) the default missile launcher (aka spinfusor) shoots exactly where you aim it. The people in this video are using an alternate version of the spinfusor that has the momentum you describe.
C'mon man, just practice and get better at it and you will be able to do it too, the game looks and feels cool and it is even cooler when you pull off a good Blue Plate Special.
Midair Spinfusor kills are still the most beautiful demonstration of skill in any shooter.
They're just so satisfying.
Spy backstabs in tf2 are just as cool.

When Fortnite is a thing and a majority of the playerbase can get into building I think that people can get into the stuff Tribes requires of you.
