Doug, please forgive me if this has been covered somewhere in the other 3100 comments (I haven't been able to read through all of them), but with regards to your critique of the interior door handles, this actually makes sense given that the owner of a car like the DB11 likely wears an opulent timepiece of which even the most understated have casings made of steel or other precious metals that is machined to sharp edges. By requiring you to rotate your wrist 180 degrees to open the door, you significantly lessen the chances of scratching the wood or tearing or wearing down the leather on the door panels.
amehel0 So rude ! Actually a wrist-watch can be a time piece ! There are many beautiful watches that stand out in time if you are a connoisseur......or is it just a wrist-watch ? 🤔 Also, don't most car interior door handles work the same way ? 🙄 Ps, the comment is still rather anal 😆
I dare anyone to turn the volume down while maneuvering that car in traffic. What the fuck is it with people and touch controls? Why do they want to do things so wrong?
The model name is actually the number of cows it takes to finish the interior of that car! DB = Dead Bodies and eleven is the number of cows the leather comes from!
Ron Heimler There will always be a market for luxury car buyers. Rolexes ain't dropping price anytime soon just because apple introduced some smartwatches.
Doug. I bet they designed the door handles like that so you have to open it with your other hand. It's a trick that forces you to shoulder check and look for cyclists before dooring them
I would definitely pass on the dash leather. Not only because of the reflection on the windshield but it just seems like overkill. It's a beauty though. Aston Martins are pure class. I own a Vantage but this DB11 makes it look like a Mustang
For the dash, I would have African Blackwood. It would be great if someone invented smell downloads, then this video would smell so good with all that leather.

they only producted 10 DB10's. 5 cars were used in the production of the Spectre movie. 1 of those was totalled during production. 1 is at the Aston Martin factory. 3 of them are displays around the world (with no engines in them). the last one was sold for public auction. it sold for around 10 million.
+The Lamborghine Some skateboarding punk rolled up to one, skated over the thing, then urinated on it. She was arrested and charged with a crime. She was found not guilty. The jurors realized fossil fueled cars are so obscene.
Seems weird that they will accent the engine compartment in gold trim but use the same steering wheel stocks I have in my $35,000 Mercedes. Seems cheap.
Aston Martin could spend a couple of million researching and creating their own entertainment unit for the center console, and they could created their own beautiful crystal stalks for the steering wheel or whatever, but that's a big waste of money on parts of the car that will have a lot of wear on them over time. They get touched a lot. Instead they just go to the best in the business and take theirs, they've already spent the money to do it. I know I'm getting a beautiful car with the Aston Martin, they've put their signature on the car, but everything that could break is luckily built by the Germans. Who know a thing or two. Its a Mercedes engine too, a probably a Mercedes gearbox. They went with the best, rather than building an Aston Martin and taking the parts from they took, from a Fiat, or Chrysler.
I remember when I got DB9 in one of the old Need for speed underground. Game all about tuning and such, but I just absolutely resisted to change a single visual thing on the exterier of the car, because it looked just way too good, and ANY added thing just made it worse... Most beautiful car ever
Door handle, from inside, "thought" to be installed in the wrong way... This could as well be in line with the way new drivers are "taught" to open their door (from the inside) in Europe, i.e. with the other hand, i.e. with your right hand. This forces the driver to look back before opening the door :) So it may be a bit more well thought that you may think.
I pulled up this video specifically because I'm sitting in a DB11 right now and I remembered this video and thinking "wow I'd kill to get to drive one of those" Today we ball
@ 10:14 - The DB11 is actually mid-engined since the whole V12 sits between the axles. It also has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, so there's no more weight on the nose than on the tail.
Samlawts 1 LOL. You are one of those total losers who knows absolutely NOTHING about cars (and are too stupid to use something called 'google') so you just end up embarrassing yourself :-) A mid-engine layout describes the placement of an automobile engine between the rear and front axles. The DB11's engine is mounted behind the front wheel hubs, making it a mid-engine car (forward biased, but still mid-mounted). Now go buy yourself a pack of gum, and I'll show you how to chew it. Douche! ;-)

Wow, you are really affectionate towards Doug. You are a cruelly ill-bred delinquent and a nefarious acidly acrimonious practitioner of non-consentual bestiality.
I rented a DB11 in Las Vegas as part of my 50th birthday week. His critique is spot on. It was an amazing car to drive for my 24hr rental time. Its probably one of the most comfortable supercars out there whether driving the highways out to Hoover dam or cornering at Redrock. One last thing a few people came up to me when I was next to the car with references to James bond.
Ben Dover Lots of car company's make exclusive cars for movies. It was really more of a concept car. This isn't surprising at all, considering that James Bond is the reason Aston Martin still exists
DGLS I just think it was a bad idea to name it the Db 10. They should have just named it something else. I don't think its a huge deal but I just think it was dumb how they did that
Kirk Lazarus III That's an interesting thought, except the fact that there is a direct correlation between lapses in 007 movies, and extremely low Aston Martin sales. Every time there wasn't a James Bond movie, or the two times Bond used bmws instead of Aston martins, they were on the verge of bankruptcy.
He basically said that they skipped a number, so instead of calling it db10, they went with db11. But they have been doing that for many years. The db5 replaced the db4 but after that, db7, db9 have been used. So what is suprising about them skipping 10? plus db10 was already taken for the spectre movie aston martin!
Richard - I'd take it over 2.5 cow carcasses in a quarter million dollar car with a V12. If I want a luxury car I'd get a Bentley but I guess Aston martins are, too, just more aggressively styled
The door release handle is actually the right way. It forces you to use your hand that is away from the door. It is good because, when you use the other hand, your body twists and you are in a position to look behind and check for traffic
I have been an Aston Martin fan since I saw the DB5 in the movie “Goldfinger”. I was 10 and still remember when Q showed it to James Bond. I have been an admirer of the line, off and on, since then.
The electric armrest lid would be annoying. Touch Screens for the sound system etc, is not good in a car. try adjusting the volume while you're driving, without taking your eyes off the road.
Stu art Fair enough but all cars do I suppose. Apart from the occasional dashboard rattle and squeak, my C63S coupe hasn't had any technical issues so far. But nothing is perfect after all. At the end of the day, they're still great cars.
I just saw one of these and the guy that drove it seemed happy. I personally would opt for something else, but it's nice knowing there are options other people will go for other than Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-Benz.
How are you going to keep your finger steady on the volume when you're driving? And how many crashes will caused because the driver had to look to find it instead of feeling for the knob?
What car do you drive that has such a bad ride that you can't even move your finger in a straight line across the dashboard? I can just fine in a minivan at 80 miles an hour.
I'm a huge Aston Martin fan. Ive never owned one. But ever since my time in the Navy and an officer that I knew had one. However I don't remember which one he had. (I did alot of partying in those days) This db11 is amazing though. Beautiful and I can only imagine the handling and acceleration. Thanks for another great review. Amazing car!
Soft close hood? RAHHHH! Yes it's because the bonnet is a single sheet of aluminium and with its shape any attempt to close it by hand could warp or dent it.
The bonet/hood opens the other way, making it difficult for it to latch as it should have one latch point on either side. So instead of making it so that when you close it you have to walk around the car and push on either side, it’s soft close will pull it down for you
Argo Hein I was just joking but since it's like that! 1.motorhead 2.wouldn't want one. ...dont have the same kind of cold ruthless MONEY IS MY GOD...stab people in the back mentality that all y'all rich folk got 3.love the classics..remember those? .......before you let a foreign car come over and bankrupt a whole city! So.......ill pass
The door handle isn’t backwards. It positions your forearm as a fulcrum to open the long door. For someone who’s job it is to get in and out of these things quickly, and with some control, I’m actually impressed if this was on purpose.
They're just two different type of cars atm. The Vanquish is the slightly older, although updated for MY 2016, sportier grand tourer in terms of technology. The DB11 is meant to be slightly less of a sportscar, although it might perform a bit better due to the torque. From a business pov; the DB11 introduces a new era for Aston Martin focussing primarily on new technology whereas the Vanquish is for those who are more interested in the latest generation of Aston Martin V12 Coupes as we've known them for the last 15 years.
Aston announced the Vanquish S not too long ago to keep the Vanquish relevant, look it up it's a beauty

05:44 This is awesome thing! In order to prevent someone smash your door, you should open the door every single time with right hand!!! When you open the door with left hand you just don´t look if anybody is comming..
I think the DB10 was the Aston Martin in the Spectre (the latest bond movie), and its was only produced for the movie.
This is correct
NSMV ashton? GRRRR
But it didn't have a bumper to bumper warranty.

This is the most beautiful Aston Martin I'd have ever seen.
Have you seen the newest ASTON MARTIN DBS SUPERLEGGERA
What about the Aston Martin Vantage v 600 from the mid to late 90s.? Pure wasp car back then pure Aston Martin hand built
Latest Vanquish is/was at least as hot !
The most beautiful Astons are definitely DB4 and DB5! ;)
DB11’s back is hideous. Worst of all new Astons. DBS is the most okay while Vantage has a good back and absolutely stupid front.

That's his little joke.
He should get a G63

same
And in 5 years people will think: "Hmmm, should I get a used DB11 or a new Camaro?"
HaHa! Id rather push an aston Martin than drive a Camaro.
WildPhotoShooter I agree, I was making fun of the depreciation of Aston Martin cars.
WildPhotoShooter in 5 years you'll be doing a lot of pushing if you own one of these.

Some people could use a good dooring every now and then.
Bicyclists should be licensed in the city. They are hypocritical, smug little pukes who think tjey can ignore traffic laws.

Yes, I totally agree with you. This like the ultimate upgrade to someone move up from an oldie S class or RR. This car is amazing :).

geez, people in the internet nowadays, im just saying that just because this is the internet doesnt mean everybody tries to insult everybody else, i didnt even realize it was a joke either. no offense
Wow, you are really affectionate towards Doug. You are a cruelly ill-bred delinquent and a nefarious acidly acrimonious practitioner of non-consentual bestiality.
How is it a joke? They made a few db10s for the last bond movie. FACT.
Belal Qureshi there is a DB10 in Morris's luxury auto in Minneapolis
"I’ve got a Honda Pilot in front of me...it’s everybody’s worst nightmare." Preach, Dougy Fresh, preach!
We built a barn for one of these to sit in - a true English classic
Why do center screens in most modern cars look like a tacked on afterthought?
They look awful don't they. I'm put off most modern cars as a result
Yeah... Never gave it a thought
Doug's best ever review cause he wasn't repeating himself constantly. This video is charcterful unlike the usual robotics
They didn't skip a number. The DB10 was for James Bond only
Why did they do that? Dumb idea...
Ben Dover
Lots of car company's make exclusive cars for movies. It was really more of a concept car.
This isn't surprising at all, considering that James Bond is the reason Aston Martin still exists
+DGLS or maybe it's the reason James Bond exists
DGLS I just think it was a bad idea to name it the Db 10. They should have just named it something else. I don't think its a huge deal but I just think it was dumb how they did that
Kirk Lazarus III
That's an interesting thought, except the fact that there is a direct correlation between lapses in 007 movies, and extremely low Aston Martin sales.
Every time there wasn't a James Bond movie, or the two times Bond used bmws instead of Aston martins, they were on the verge of bankruptcy.
Just love your reviews and watching the sheer excitement that you show for every car you review. Keep up the great work! 👍👍👍
Bro them exhaust sounds are crazy! The only car where I feel like you can REALLY HEAR THE DIFFERENCE.
He basically said that they skipped a number, so instead of calling it db10, they went with db11. But they have been doing that for many years. The db5 replaced the db4 but after that, db7, db9 have been used. So what is suprising about them skipping 10? plus db10 was already taken for the spectre movie aston martin!
You're right but he was just joking I'm sure man, Doug knows.
Sachchida Anand thanks for the info!
Aston Martin didn't skip a number... I bet you know they didn't Doug.
IElRedI Bet they will after the next one though!
IElRedI right the db9 db7 smh
My dad just bought a 2019 red db11 3 days ago and this video gave me useful information about the car
No dual clutch transmission in a car that costs more than $220,000. Why even bother?
There's multiple good reasons not to go for a dual clutch transmission. Why does it 100% need one for you?
Richard - please list those reasons
Lighter, smaller and less complex. Weight is usually the biggest factor.
Richard - I'd take it over 2.5 cow carcasses in a quarter million dollar car with a V12. If I want a luxury car I'd get a Bentley but I guess Aston martins are, too, just more aggressively styled
Dual clutch on a 500+ ft-lb car... good luck mate
you want to review my BA 97' accord
Maybe he can review my LH 3902?
Last night someone was loading my neigbors focus and they had to pull out a db11 in my driveway to load it very nice
Doug, you're doing great reviews thank you!
There are so many cars I'd rather have for the 250,000 price.
The door release handle is actually the right way. It forces you to use your hand that is away from the door. It is good because, when you use the other hand, your body twists and you are in a position to look behind and check for traffic
2:35 When you are trying to use this on a bumpy road. RIP volume control...
I was wearing headphones. My ears died @ 5:15.
I have been an Aston Martin fan since I saw the DB5 in the movie “Goldfinger”. I was 10 and still remember when Q showed it to James Bond. I have been an admirer of the line, off and on, since then.
I'm gonna email you about my new Dawn. That would be fun
yes preez
Sounds like an electronic nightmare once the battery is dead...
5:15 think I just fell in love
Why do they feel making everything eletric is better?
Quiet you. I am pressing a button so my electric sun visor flips down.
Joseph Summers Omg lol
The electric armrest lid would be annoying.
Touch Screens for the sound system etc, is not good in a car. try adjusting the volume while you're driving, without taking your eyes off the road.
I don't even like eletric seats, they take too long. I think I'm capable of closing the hood myself.
I prefer electric seats lmfao, when I'm bored and waiting for someone or just waiting in the car, they are fun to use.
I'd rather buy a single house in Georgia .
or a couple of city blocks in detroit.
Ron Heimler Same thing where I live, a rather rural area in Germany. 250,000€ gets me literally a flat smaller than 100sqm
where do you live😂😂
are you referencing a song?
Yeah but for that you would have to live in Georgia.
No thanks, I'd rather die.
I like that Doug gets to review these cars before they are released. I also like this quirky humour in these older videos.
I see a LOT of little electric motors just waiting to break in classic Aston fashion....
This car could be so much more without 500lbs of leather and 200lbs of motors and electronics.
Mark M it's a GT car not a track car
The electronics are mostly provided by Mercedes this time around so there should be a big improvement on the reliability front.
No way, Mercedes has problems too. Maybe better than an aston, but Mercs have their fair share of issues.
Stu art Fair enough but all cars do I suppose. Apart from the occasional dashboard rattle and squeak, my C63S coupe hasn't had any technical issues so far. But nothing is perfect after all. At the end of the day, they're still great cars.
I don't understand those rear seats in those expensive cars, better have some extra storage space.
You can put stuff on a seat, but you can’t sit in a storage space.
None
Geoffrey Carter Nothing beats the volume knob.
I think the only music needed in this car is the exhaust note
you can turn it up on steering wheel as well
What car do you drive that has such a bad ride that you can't even move your finger in a straight line across the dashboard? I can just fine in a minivan at 80 miles an hour.
5:14 put your headphones on full volume and buy new ears...xD
I️ saw one of these on the highway and it’s easily one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen in person.
Anyone else notice the guy trying to catch up in the left of the back window at 8:00...
they dident skip a number the db 10 is the james bond car
This is the best looking Aston Martin by far in my opinion. Whoever did the body styling absolutely nailed it.
I can see the stereo speaker being annoying when its sticking out.
I want it so bad
I'm a huge Aston Martin fan. Ive never owned one. But ever since my time in the Navy and an officer that I knew had one. However I don't remember which one he had. (I did alot of partying in those days) This db11 is amazing though. Beautiful and I can only imagine the handling and acceleration. Thanks for another great review. Amazing car!
am i the only one that thinks that aston martin made more brilliant looking cars that any other car manufacturer.
Soft close hood? RAHHHH! Yes it's because the bonnet is a single sheet of aluminium and with its shape any attempt to close it by hand could warp or dent it.
TheRealLaker The hood on my 2002 nissan Altima se was from a single sheet of aluminum and so was the trunk. No warping, twisting or denting.
This is what I could never work out. It definitely isn't the first of its kind, so I don't see what the need was unless its a very thin sheet.
I've seen a Porsche with a dented hood on video because of that
carlos oliveira - yes but that’s tiny compared to this
The bonet/hood opens the other way, making it difficult for it to latch as it should have one latch point on either side. So instead of making it so that when you close it you have to walk around the car and push on either side, it’s soft close will pull it down for you
+Doug Demuro does it include a bumper to bumper warranty?
If you have to ask it, you don't deserve it (or something like that).
Argo Hein I was just joking but since it's like that!
1.motorhead
2.wouldn't want one. ...dont have the same kind of cold ruthless MONEY IS MY GOD...stab people in the back mentality that all y'all rich folk got
3.love the classics..remember those? .......before you let a foreign car come over and bankrupt a whole city!
So.......ill pass
I was not that serious either
Doug, the type of guy to drive in a convertible with the top down and the windows up . 😉
When the battery goes dead, you wont even be able to charge or replace it, because the hood wont electricity open. Clever thinking Aston Martin...
Very nice car but the black plastic steering wheel stocks which are the same from my 2015 mercedes somehow seems a bit awkward
The door handle isn’t backwards. It positions your forearm as a fulcrum to open the long door. For someone who’s job it is to get in and out of these things quickly, and with some control, I’m actually impressed if this was on purpose.
Is it better than a Ford Mondeo V6?
So is this better than the vanquish? im completely lost with aston logic
9enius no they are different classes of cars.
9enius I'd say it is, and that means the Vanquish is probably getting a new generation soon, to retake it's spot as Aston's flagship.
HugoElders are you referring to the 2017 Vanquish S.
Aston announced the Vanquish S not too long ago to keep the Vanquish relevant, look it up it's a beauty
05:44 This is awesome thing! In order to prevent someone smash your door, you should open the door every single time with right hand!!! When you open the door with left hand you just don´t look if anybody is comming..
meh.. I'll take a house with my Toyota instead.
I'd buy this, but the automated middle console is just not my thing.
